Hotel Basilica is a well run, spotlessly clean boutique hotel in the heart of Old Town Quito. Perfectly placed half way between the gorgeous basilica on the hill (short walk uphill), and the Presidential square area (short walk downhill). It is near restaurants, shopping, historic sites, many gorgeous churches, bakeries, chocolate shops and coffee shops. The location cannot be beat in my opinion. They arranged a punctual pick up at the airport for us. We got in late when restaurants were closed, so the driver kindly suggested we purchased food at the airport and offered to let us eat in the car. The rooms are lovely and spacious. Water pressure was great in the shower, toiletries and hair dryers in the rooms, and a safe large enough to fit what we wanted locked. There is a hot breakfast every morning served in the inner courtyard. They start with a fresh fruit bowl and fantastic coffee. The menu rotated, but included some type of eggs, breads or pastries, ham, cheese, etc. A perfect relaxed breakfast before heading out. The security is good. You are buzzed in and out of the hotel. This is a standard practice with many places in Quito, even coffee shops. The staff was fantastic. Very polite, the server at breakfast spoke multiple languages including perfect English. The owner used a translation app for anything she struggled to tell us. She was full of knowledge of the area, suggesting times to visit various places to avoid crowds, or to get the best lighting in the Basílica windows (early morning). There were restaurants within a block of the hotel we really enjoyed that were recommended by the owner. In summary, the hotel rooms and amenities were lovely, the staff excellent, and the location perfect.

Everything was fine, it's a fantastic place

The host was incredible!! Very responsive and truly care about her guests. We had a personal tour of the property with suggestions on where to eat and what to visit. She also provided us with a map of the surroundings with her notes which was very helpful. Although nobody speaks English (only Spanish), the communication was still perfect as they use Google translate all the time. So even though there was a language barrier, this has not affected our stay at all!! The room was so beautiful and clean and the breakfast was perfect. We felt very safe in this hotel since the doors are always locked so not anyone can just walk in. I definitely recommend this place 100%.

Nothing! Everything was perfect.

My wife and I live in Quito and we both love the historic center of the city and we visit regularly, even though we live just a few miles away. The hotel is beautiful, inside and out. Everyone who works at the hotel does everything they can to ensure you will have the best stay possible. Miryan is the older Ecuadorian woman who checked us in and also saw us off on the day we left and she also served us breakfast on a couple of mornings. Karla is a young Ecuadorian woman who served us breakfast the other mornings and both of them could not have been nicer and more personable. Our breakfasts were delicious, consisting of freshly cut fruit, eggs, toast, fruit juice and good strong coffee. I especially appreciated there was plentiful hot water for our showers each morning. There was a big bottle of water available to fill up our water bottles each day and the hotel had a nice selection of wine to purchase that my wife and I appreciated because we were celebrating our Anniversary.

I can't think of anything that we didn't like.

The location is unbeatable. We loved the fresh roses in the room. The bedrooms are all different with beautiful murals. The entire hotel is decorated and has lots of plants. We had a warm welcome showing us the property all the way to the roof top offering views on both the Basilica and the Panecillo. The manager Miriam was very attentive to all clients. We had different fresh fruits and fresh smoothies everyday besides eggs to taste and delicious croissant. The hotel can organize all kinds of tours around Quito (Otavalo, Mindo, Mitad del mundo) and has a small boutique with artisanal products and clothing.

The laundry policy is not practical. They don't want people to do their own but will take laundry only above 10-15 pieces, which is impossible for a short stay.

We stayed at Hotel La Basilica on 3 different occasions during our time in Quito. For each stay we were warmly welcomed, given advice on where to visit in Quito and how much you should pay to travel by taxi to the venue. They also offer a taxi service to and from the airport which was very much appreciated. Our room was large and beautifully appointed with a king sized bed, safe & towels creatively arranged on our bed. Even better, it’s very quiet although the building is on a busy street. It is located in the historic district only a few blocks from the main square and presidents palace. Our host, Miriam also provided great advice on where to eat nearby. Her husband even escorted us on the first night to a nearby restaurant Runa Tulsa Andina, which offered delicious local food. On our last night Miriam made a reservation for us at La Vid Restuarante which also provided outstanding food. Back at the Hotel Basilica we also had a great breaks at each morning and also good wine in the evening . Overall Miriam offered superb service , waking up early in the morning before the official breakfast time to provide breakfast before an early trip to the airport . I would highly recommend Hotel Basilica.

My friend and I stayed at Hotel La Basilica twice, before and after our Galapagos trip. It was the perfect landing place in Quito when arriving in the country and after being on a boat for 5 days. The rooms were really beautiful and clean (loved the towel animals that changed daily), loved the center courtyard in the hotel, and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was made for us daily and included eggs, baked goods, fruit, coffee and tea. Hotel staff made sure we had a plan for the day, helped arrange transportation if necessary, and gave us local recommendations. Would definitely stay here again!

Everything exceeded our expectations, I would have liked to stay here more days.

This was our second stay at the hotel, La Basílica. The hotel is very centrally, located in the old town of Quito and a very good point to explore from on foot. The staff and the owners are extremely accommodating and very sweet and go out of their way to help you with any possible need. On our trip trips in and out they set up transportation for us with wonderful drivers and very nice vehicles And I would highly suggest you use them for any transportation needs well in Quito. We got wonderful recommendations for meals and some places to visit around the hotel and I can’t recommend staying there enough

The only thing we really have to say negative about the hotel is that the beds are very hard. We found this the case in a lot of places, so it may be more of a preference, but if you were looking for a softer bed, out of the three rooms we stayed in, all of the beds were very hard.

The property has a great location in the old town portion of Quito. It is extremely clean and everyone there was more than friendly. You enter through a lock door that must be open to let you in via video cameras and the interior is very safe. We loved the morning breakfast and the hotel staff/owners were incredibly kind. They also set up transportation to and from anywhere we wanted to go And made our stay extremely enjoyable. The hotel is also very centrally located in the old part of Quito, which made getting around walking very easy. You are only five or six blocks from the main basilica. There are several good restaurants in the area and a number of them down towards the main plaza past the government buildings which are about five or six blocks south. Overall, it’s an easy place to walk. We just had several warnings from a number of places do not walk after dark.

The one thing that would’ve been nice, is to have a view from the hotel or some of the hotel. Basically, you are inside with no windows to the outside world in any part of the hotel as far as we could tell. The roof is a giant skylight which makes natural light come in, but there are no Windows to the outside world.

We loved our 3-night stay at Hotel La Basilica! The staff were all warm & welcoming, and regularly checked in with us to ensure we had what we needed to be comfortable during our stay. The location was ideal for exploring the area and visiting local churches, restaurants and shops. The room and bed were quite comfortable, and we slept well in the peaceful setting. We also looked forward to the delicious breakfast they served each morning in the lovely courtyard. If you’re looking for a home base to explore Quito from, we can highly recommend Hotel La Basilica.

Everything was fine

Our host was very welcoming upon our arrival. Even though it is located in a busy area & street our room ( superior) was at back of the property & was very quiet. The room itself was very spacious, well appointed & the bed was comfortable . The breakfast was also very generous with fruit, pineapple bread & eggs. Whilst relaxing in the courtyard you can purchase wine by the glass or beer . The host will also accompany you to nearby restaurants if you are worried about security Finally, it is located in the very heart of the historic district which makes sightseeing easy .
