We were a group of 8 (5 adults +3 kids), we booked 3 rooms and traveled in December and stayed for 3 nights. the location is top. It's near the Tahrir square, and the streets are very nice, with colonial buildings. there are a lot of shops, cafes, restaurants in walking distance. the hotel itself is dated, but the beds are comfortable, the towels are good and you get shower gel. the breakfast is basic but it gives you a good start of the day. We arrived at the hotel at 5 in the morning and the reception was open, same as departure, we checked out at 5. we booked excursion through the hotel owner.

The location was great amid trendy shopping and food options. The staff was very friendly and accommodating of every request. The room was spacious, modern, and clean.

While "soundproof", it's hard to get away from the honking on the street so bring some earplugs. The ensuite bathroom is nice but doesn't offer much privacy if you're sharing space. The elevator was acting up while we were there and we had to walk the stairs to the 4th floor a couple of times. Don't expect a great view since there are buildings right outside but the windows were tinted and had good drapes and there was still a little breakfast balcony which was nice.

It is very well located, just a few steps from Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum. You can also walk to the Ramsis Station and the Old Cairo. The hotel is in a very lively street but it's pretty quiet, you can sleep without noise. There are all kind of restaurants, shops and cafes around. The Sadat metro station is very close to the hotel. All in all, I would recommend staying here.

The breakfast could be a bit better and it's only served at 8am which can be a bit late if you have an arranged tour or you need to leave early.

The friendly & accommodating staff and its personable multi-language speaking owner Mr. Nabil (fluent French, English & Arabie). I stayed here for 9 nites, and felt like family the entire time. The hotel organizes desert safaris to the trippy White Desert, and can organize reliable car hires, all for a very fair price. My room was spacious, very airy & well lit, and with a small neat balcony. Golden Hotel also offers same day laundry priced per piece. The cleaning & laundry staff were kind & helpful, too. And, you can’t beat the central location in downtown Talat Harb, just a stone’s throw from the old Cairo Museum, & in the neighborhood of all kinds of eating options. I would stay here again in a heart beat. And, great water pressure in the shower along with the water temperature you desire (you adjust to your liking). And, excellent communication prior to arrival. A basic breakfast included to start your day.

There was nothing to dislike. I prepaid my reservation on an on-line booking app, so I don’t know if the hotel accepts credit cards or not. I paid cash for my drivers & tours & laundry.

Because of our wonderful host Nabil our five days in Cairo were great! the location of the Golden Hotel was perfect and we walked to many of the major sights as well as to the Metro Station which was nearby. Our room was very spacious and well furnished with a comfortable bed. Nabil’s suggestions were helpful and his arrangement for our tour of the Pyramids, with guide, and the car and driver for our travel to Alexandria was very helpful. We ate our breakfast most mornings at the hotel and we were happily surprised not to be charged. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly with great smiles, which is a reflection on our host!

The shower fixture could use some attention.

The owner and staff were very helpful, friendly, and cheerful. My days started with the ring of gentle laughter over breakfast and the atmosphere throughout my stay was unfailingly pleasant and welcoming. The hotel offers good-value private tours with relaxed, patient drivers in new, well-maintained cars – a rare find in Cairo and I highly recommend them.

Hard to find fault at this very decent price.

The room was clean and quiet at night. The bed was very comfortable. Warm shower, very warm if you want even. The staff were very friendly and we were happy we could store our luggage after we checked out and had to wait until our evening flight.

The facilities were a bit old, especially the stairway going up. The lights in the room were very bright/white, would prefer some more cozy lighting.

I had my purse stolen in Cairo. I was at a loss but this hotel staff all helped me a lot. especially the owner gave me useful suggestions and one woman staff, Nada, she gave me some foods and water free because I had no money, no credit cards then. it must be their great kindness that I could enjoy to go on traveling after that. thanks Nabil and Nada and every other staff.

We have liked the location near the Egyptian museum, the welcome and the help we got to organise our trip to various sites and the airport. The host is friendly and helpful. The place is clean and comfy.

Although the entrance to the building is not very appealing, the place is convenient and ticks the boxes for a short stay. We would have appreciated a kettle in the bedroom..
