Well located in the heart of the city, close to La Rambla, the Metro station of Liceu (and the Opera House), and a great place to stay for those who want to get out and about around the city. The hotel is beautifully laid out, with rooms overlooking a communal area below, well-lit via a skylight during the daytime. The en-suite room we had was equipped with an air-conditioning unit, which was easy to use. The rooms are secure enough, using electronic keys. The communal areas are pleasant, with tables and chairs for you to use, and plenty of other seating.

There was not much I did not like; you can tell the hotel is old (the architecture is a wonderful, Art Nouveau style), and there are perhaps one or two repairs or modernisations required, but it had character, and was a wonderful place to stay. Conversations from the communal area carries into the rooms, but this was not really a problem. The hotel exceeded our expectations, we would stay again; however, if you are expecting anything more luxurious than a place to meet, sleep, clean, and take a light breakfast, then this is not for you.

Staff were friendly + helpful. Vintage character of hotel. Location was ideal. Wi-Fi worked well for me … in my room on both the 3rd and 4th floor. Breakfast was ok … better than some reviews suggested.

Room was v. Spartan … Noise was a problem with some younger guests coming in late (5am) and arguing, - bedroom hopping, knocking on doors - sounds echo here like in an old institution …. you can hear every conversation either side … ear plugs to sleep are essential here. Luckily Staff helpfully managed to relocate me 403 => 303 on another floor which was much quieter. Hotel is very well cleaned by excellent staff + bedding was good and clean … and mattresses were firmish but comfortable … Bathroom odour was bad in 403 … no sink plug … which was a problem as I wet shave. Not quite as bad in 303. I know Barcelona drains are notorious for this. Regular chemical disinfectant down plug and drain holes would easily fix this problem.

Hotel Peninsular is a historic property that has been well maintained keeping its early 1900’s Art Nouveau vibe. The floor are beautiful tile and clear glass. It was home to the Friars in the 1800 the became a hotel which is now third generation. If you’re a history buff, this is your place. Some rooms are small with just the basic essentials: air conditioning, tub/shower, beds. We did not have a TV which was fine because it’s located in the heart of Barcelona and we enjoyed their free breakfast then enjoyed the city.

Everything, mostly the historic layout with live plants hanging in the atrium several stories high. Definitely the blocked glass flooring.

The breakfast buffet was pretty good and had decent options to choose from jam, cereal, different coffees, etc. The staff was very kind and nice and they gave us the option to hold our luggage at check out while we waited for our departure in the afternoon

All good maybe the beds a little bit rough but for the price can’t ask for much

It is located near la rambla and all the important squares .the metro line station liceau is in short walking distance .it has the perfect location .there are super markets next to it .it has a very good breakfast which exceeded my expectations.reception is open 24 h a day .very easy to find it .the staff is helpful .la boqueria the famous market is also very close .

It didn't have a fridge even a small one which is a problem for summer months .the balcony was small and dirty ,you didn't have a place to dry your clothes

Location was convenient. Historical feel that wasn’t trying to be something it isn’t. Clean bathrooms, clean bed - it is an old monastery or something like that and it feels like that - very sparse but you are out and about the whole time so it’s fine. Air conditioning and opening windows - all good. Breakfast is basic but plentiful - from 8-10am. Plenty of gorgeous pastry shops etc outside if you prefer. Staff so friendly - hostel vibe that we loved.

Dog barking - noisy other younger people - all happy noises that stopped early enough. Spartan for the price.

Basic cheap and clean with very friendly and helpful staff. This is no frills hotel to use as a base for your stay in Barcelona. Just a few pieces of furniture and a wardrobe. No telephone or TV in room but has air conditioning.

The shower room was a bit on the small side especially the shower cubicle which was was a bit tricky to get in and out of. We stayed here before and the hotel has shower/bathrooms which are larger so ask when you are booking for one of those if you are on the larger size.

Central location, rooms cleaned every day, beautifull hotel that still has that old monk cell feeling. Modest, yet has everything you need:a bed, table, place to hang your clothes, hairdryer can be asked for at the reception. Very helpfull and friendly staff. Our room was in the attic and not facing the street-our window was facing an oposite side, so it was super calm, there was no sound from the outside. It really had an old, cosy, unfiltered spanish vibe, which we really enjoyed. Tip: read about hotels history on their website and do not expect a Radison vibe in one of the oldest parts of town, do not expect anything very fancy for the price you pay. But if you need a place where you can reach everything by foot, sleep in a comfortable bed, where you are welcomed with smiles and have a free breakfast every morning-go for it. If we come back to Barcelona-we'll book our stay here again.

There could have been a tv, but honestly, we did not come to Barcelona to watch tv, after enjoying the city we were dead tired and just went straight to bed.

The location of the hotel couldn't be more central, less than 50m from La Rambla and the nearest tube station. The room was very basic, but perfectly clean and adequate. If you want a TV and a kettle in your room then this isn't the place for you, but you've paid bugger all for the room, so what do you expect. There was plenty of food at breakfast. Not a lot of choice, but what was there was topped up regularly, so you never went short. All the staff were friendly, and helpful. For the price I really don't think anything could have been better.

The bed. The mattress was VERY firm, and I never really got comfortable.

Location is great, few minutes from Boqueria market. Our room was of a good size, the beds are comfortable and the room had a heater/cooler airco that worked perfectly. Breakfast was good: cornflakes, plain yogurt, simple cold cuts and cheese, jam and chocolate spread, two types of bread, juices, coffee and tea. Good value for money.

Very small window to the back, no natural light in the room. Very small bathroom, we are two slim persons but showering was a challenge. Our room was at the end of the corridor, next to the floor’s public toilet (1st floor has a large patio, this is for the ppl who sit around there).
