We started our honeymoon off in BCN at the mercer hotel. From checkin we met LUCA at the front desk who was so kind and welcoming. They greeted us with champagne, which we loved. Our room wasn't ready, but we were happy to walk around the gothic quarter--very cool! The hotel is central in the quarter surrounded by neat art galleries, tiny shops, coffee shops, etc. Excellent place to start out our honeymoon. our room was small, but it was all we needed. I loved the old brick. The rooftop bar and small pool was divine. There was hardly anyone up there. There were clean bathrooms and a phone to call staff when we needed a drink--it worked out great.

Perfect location in the Gothic Quarter. It is an easy walk to the majority of visitor sites. The staff is very kind and extremely helpful. Our room was absolutely lovely and equipped with high end amenities. We had wine at the hotel bar and a lovely tapas meal at Le Bouchon.

The whole experience matched my expectations: staff were unfailingly welcoming and polite; there was a willingness to go the extra mile and I felt that there was a strong customer focus to the day to day interactions.

I think taxi access to the hotel is an issue. My experience from several taxi journeys is that there is a wariness amongst the drivers resulting in a mixed reaction to drop-off. For example, my first driver dropped me at the door but voiced unease about the location; another dropped me off at the end of the alleyway. There is no easy solution to this but I thought it worthy of mention.

The location was excellent to wonder around the alleys of the Gothic Quarter, and to walk to many sights. The staff was incredibly friendly, and helpful. We felt welcomed each day, and they were genuinely interested in our day and how they could help in anyway. Top notch staff.

The hotel was a beautiful, calm and friendly oasis that was centrally located. A great jumping off point for Barcelona explorations.

Location is fantastic and the staff was very kind and honestly helpful. We arrived to check in as their bar was closing for a few hours mid day and they stayed open so we could get something to eat. The staff heard us coming up the road with our suitcases and came out to greet us.

1) the pool is very dirty. 2) during breakfast in the atrium someone on the top floor sprayed water that rained down on everyone eating in the atrium, 3) the shower pan in the room bathroom was dirty and had bugs under the slats, and 4) for a hotel of the caliber they should offer complimentary water in the room

The hotel is in a brilliant location in the Gothic Quarter. It's close to a Metro station and is surrounded by unique shops, galleries and good restaurants, cafes and bars. It's about a 10 minute walk to the iconic La Ramble. Our room was quiet, clean and super comfortable. Overall, the staff were fabulous. Everyone was friendly, professional and very helpful. The silver-service restaurant is excellent and the rooftop area with a small pool, bar and sun lounges provides welcome respite from the summer heat. There is a tapas restaurant, cocktail bar (with a mixologist making margaritas to die for) and a lovely shady area with tables under trees on the ground floor. I would not stay anywhere else in Barcelona.

We struggled with the high pillows and, despite their best efforts, staff weren't able to find ones which suited. A pillow menu with a range of options would be an advantage.

Loved the hotel. The room was lovely, bed was massive and very comfortable. Hotel is perfectly situated in the Gothic Quarter and close to everything. Staff were all lovely and couldn't help us enough. Also, restaurant recommendations were great. Breakfast was very nice, as was the bar and cocktail bar, but you'd expect this sort of quality at a 5-star hotel. The roof terrace was lovely too, although the weather wasn't hot enough to use it.

Only little criticism was that bottled water wasn't free in the room. Have to pay for it from the mini bar.

Sad that there wasn’t a pool but given it’s the old wall of the gothic area totally understandable - but everything else more than made up for this. Definitely would not stop me going back again and again
