Right on the Camino. After nearly 2 weeks of guesthouses, shared apartments and hostels it was very nice to be in a real hotel. Even though the Hotel Scala is one of those old places with faded carpets and long hall ways with dozens of rooms all exactly the same it had good a/c which was wonderful after days without it in the Spanish heatwave and there was lovely crisp linen. My room was right down the end of a hallway and very quiet. Okay food in the cafeteria with extensive kitchen hours.

The wifi is terrible. My laptop warned me the connection wasn’t secure. That didn’t really matter because the connection continually dropped out so I mostly had to use my phone service anyway.

The hotel was beautiful. Some reviews said it was run down but I found it to be lovely. Historic. Clean. We were exhausted after a day of walking and it was wonderful to have an air conditioned room with a large shower right on the Camino. The cafe downstairs served sandwiches and burgers if you want to eat before the dinner hour. The food was very good. The room was large and clean.

The staff were rude. Not just one person but all involved behind the desk. I chose to ignore it, and smiled through the process. I was hot and tired but when we walked into the elevator, my husband, who usually says nothing, made a comment. He was spot on. In general, they seem to cater to tour buses and not the average person. We didn't require anything above or beyond our room so we only had to deal with the staff checking in and checking out. Checking in was ten minutes. If you can get past that, then I would recommend staying.

One thing that sets this property apart from others is the friendly and helpful staff. Whether at the front desk, in the restaurant/bar or breakfast room, they always went the extra mile to ensure that we had everything we needed. The rooms and facilities are clean and well-kept. It's great to have a pool to relax in after a long walk from Caldas de Reis. Having an affordable bar and restaurant means that you don't need to go back into Padrón for lunch, dinner or a snack.

Our triple room was a little cramped and so it wasn't possible to sit at the desk without moving the beds. It's a bit of a hike to the pool, but worth it once you get there. Wi-Fi can be hit or miss.

Right on the Camino path. Comfortable rooms with air conditioning that worked almost too well. The restaurant downstairs was a little splurge the night before our end of the Camino. Honestly was one of the best grilled steaks I have ate anywhere! The server, while she was the only one staffed tables, was friendly, efficient, and wished us a buen Camino. I didn't get her name.

Front desk staff was a little inhospitable, but there was a large group checking in. Morning staff much better.

I had an amazing experience at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment I arrived. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with all the amenities I needed. I especially appreciated the attention to detail and the calm, welcoming atmosphere throughout the property. The location was perfect — close to everything, but still peaceful. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The hotel & all the staff were excellent. The bar menu was great with a good choice. The room & bed were very comfortable. It was very quiet at night. Good buffet breakfast with good choice.

We were there four nights and every day there was a school party that were noisy at breakfast. They also pushed & shoved around the lift area.

The location right on El Camino Portugues.

It was very noisy. I cannot believe that the rooms have no noise insulation. There was a wedding in the events rooms, and I can hear for more than 2 hours “Vivan los novios”. I wish them all happiness in the world for ever, but I was not able to rest and recover from a long walk. Maybe in day with no events, it would be fine. My bad luck!

Really nice accommodation with a breakfast buffet to suit all preferences. Additionally, they have food options available at the bar/lounge and outdoors during other times, so you always have access without leaving the property. Again, the breakfast buffet was really nice.

The location is just outside of town, but it was a nice walk for me. I enjoyed staying here so much that even after arriving in Santiago to complete my camino, I stayed at the hotel, rather than deal with the crowds in Santiago. It was a 15 minute train ride to and from Padrón. Great hotel and great staff.

Swimming pool wonderful, early breakfast great, good sized room, wonderful location on the Camino way

Having to pay 5 euros for a pool towel , not enough shade by the pool , we had a buffet meal in the evening which was mediocre but it was on the other hand good value

Room itself good.

Restaurant only opens at 20:00. This is too late for people doing the pilgrimage along the Camino. Breakfast at a good time, but limited offerings. Mainly baked items, and all of lowest supermarket quality range.
