I have stayed at this hotel occasionally since 1970. It was a middle-class hotel then, somewhat rundown by 2010, and now completely renovated. The location is very good, in the middle of the 'academic quarter' on the Left Bank, in a relatively quiet street but close to the touristic and cultural heart of Paris. It is more expensive since the renovation but still affordable. We had a beautiful room with a large and well-furnished bath, a long balcony which wrapped around the corner of the building, and excellent twin beds. The only discordant feature was the strange placement of the mini-refrigerator, on the floor beside the desk/table. The elevator is (still) very small; perhaps that couldn't be corrected due to structural limitations. The value for money is not as good as in earlier times. For me, a nostalgic and rewarding stay.

The breakfast, still served in a basement room, was well below the general level of the hotel. The scrambled eggs were reconstituted from powder, the coffee was also made from powder and pre-sweetened, the croissants mass-produced. 50 years ago, the breakfast here was simple but honest. Now, it seems to be trying to cater to (imagined) foreign tastes, with processed food items and sugar everywhere. I would recommend skipping the breakfast here and going to one of the cafés within easy walking distance, which were well attended during our stay (try the rue Mouffetard).

Excellent location with Saint Michel Notre Dame station 15mins away (direct trains for airport and Versailles) and Maubert metro 5 mins giving access to the Paris Metro system. Area is quiet and clean but with huge diversity of restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets nearby. Staff very welcoming and friendly and provided an upgrade to a large room. Excellent breakfast provided.

As it’s an older building there was some noise from other guests rooms, but not a major issue for us.

Great location, just a short walk away from Notre Dame but far enough away to feel a bit set back from the hustle and bustle. Lovely cafe opposite to get breakfast and lots of restaurants and bars nearby.

The lift is only big enough for one person, we didn’t mind using the stairs but perhaps more of an issue with a pushchair

Staff were all pleasant and efficient. We were given room access at arrival, early. Fabulous after 2 days of flights. I had asked might be have a higher floor balcony room because hotel has an elevator. Bliss. Spacious 5th floor room with 2 sets of French Doors to balcony. Didn’t bother going out for dinner, sat on balcony with cheese and a wine and absorbed the local atmosphere. Room Air-conditioning excellent. All hotel fastidiously clean. Bed comfortable, great Tea and Coffee for Electric Kettle. Housekeeping and Reception Staff outstanding. Paris was hot, early in season. The Guest beverage corner was a nice touch. The cold lemon water was wonderful after the hot streets of beautiful Paris. Fantastic area. We know Paris well but not that immediate area, near Sorbonne. Easy walk down to Seine, Notre Dame, Bateau Boats & all. Little grocery shops and Bars as well as Restaurants close. Highly recommend.

Had it all.

We had the family room and it was perfect for us, two adults with two teen children. The room was huge by Europe standards. The bathroom had a full bathtub and they supplied amenities like shampoo, soap and lotion along with cotton swabs, shower caps and nail files. Our room had a small fridge that came with four refillable glass water bottles, there was a water filling station in the lobby. The room was street side and while we did hear street noise (I liked having the windows open) it usually quieted down by midnight it was never loud enough to keep us up. There is an elevator but it is TINY so we took the stairs most of the time. When I did take the lift after long days of sightseeing it was quick and didn’t run shakily or smell bad or anything. 24 hr front desk staff were welcoming and friendly always greeting us and answering any questions we had. Location in the Latin quarter was perfect we were walking distance to so many things. Wonderful boulangeries for breakfast and so many dinner options. Lots of jazz clubs and pubs a few blocks away were open late so it was nice to get a bite after a day of late site seeing. Notre Dame was just a few minutes away.

There is nothing I can think of, we would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

Amazing location, you can walk to Notre Dame and the Seine in ~15 minutes. The staff was super friendly, funny and very helpful and informative especially because we cannot not speaking any french at all~ Will definitely book again, we had a womderful experience!

Nothing serious just be mindful when using the tap in the bathtub it's a bit tricky to change control to the shower phone~

Location is perfect! There is a wonderful bakery across the street for lunch and pastries, as well as numerous restaurants and gift shops. A quick walk to the Pantheon and the Sorbonne. 30 minute walk to Notre Dame or the Louvre. Taxis are readily available in the neighborhood . Breakfast included hot items, yogurt, cereal and pastries.

The lobby could use an update but it was clean with a nice area for snacks and coffee/tea available all day. We had a room with a balcony on the second floor which offered a nice view but it there was some street noise early in the mornings.

The rooms were a decent size for 2 people. Bathroom was nice. Shower was good but high step to get in. My son is 6'4 and was very comfortable in the room and Bathroom. Staff was wonderful. They were always engaging and making sure you were comfortable. Very clean and we loved the decor! Location is great! Near metro and lots of places to eat! The elevator, lift, was VERY tiny. Just enough room for 1 person. It's just makes the ambiance of the hotel even better!

The hotel was a pleasant surprise: a little jewel near the Sorbonne that is easily accessible and in a great location near the Boulevard St. Germain, a few blocks to the nearest Metro station and several bus lines. The neighborhood is delightful to stroll and explore, with a variety of shops and cafés nearby, and a 10-minute walk to Boulevard St. Michel, the Musée de Cluny and the Quais of the Seine. The hotel itself is charming, the room was clean and comfortable and had a small fridge which I really appreciated. The staff were friendly, helpful and hospitable. Breakfast is available, but not included in the room price, and there is also a coffee corner in the lobby for guests. I look forward to staying here again on my next visit to Paris. Merci de tout!

Hotel Claude Bernard Saint-Germain - My family and I stayed at this place on Mar 2024, we loved it and I am sharing my feedback. The biggest advantage of this hotel is the location and the staff. The location is walking distance to Jardin du Luxembourg & Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris (Paris hop-on & hop-off stop) and situated in a very good neighborhood. Metro rail lines are also close by and the staff would assist in directions. If you're using Uber or Bolt the Cabs take less than 10 min for pickup. The staff were very friendly and flexible to accommodate us. The breakfast is great & hearty - Options include Diet-friendly, French & continental European breakfast.
