The hotel is located inside the Kyoto Station, which makes it excellent as a hub for out-of-town train trips and for arriving and departing by train. Touring the city requires somewhat more travel. The windows are exceptionally well isolating, and the room was very quiet in spite of being above train tracks.

The breakfast was very good, with somewhat less variety on the western side. At some times it was very busy, with ques for taking food. The train station closes towards midnight, and the access to the hotel becomes more complicated.

We were traveling by train from Osaka to Kyoto and on to Tokyo, so this was by far the most convenient for us. You access the hotel directly from the train station. For being right next to the trains you hardly hear them. There is a currency exchange machine in the lobby with a reasonable exchange rate. We did not have the breakfast - it didn't have a lot of western-style options for our picky children.

The Miyako City hotel is located within the Kyoto Station and hence it was super easy to travel and access all attractions. The staff was very polite and helpful. They had taken delivery of our forwarded luggage and promptly informed us too. We got our bags on checkin. The room was well appointed with all facilities. We could see the Shinkansen tracks just below our window. However, there was no noise or disturbance. We liked watching the Shinkansen trains arriving and leaving. A comfortable stay at Kyoto.

Room was a bit cramped. However we liked the room and enjoyed our stsy.

Despite the best location at Kyoto station, it wasn't loud at all. Cleaning ladies were nice and polite. The staff were helpful and responsive.

The first moment I entered my room, I smelled a foul odor. It was from a bath curtain. I told the staff to do something about it. An hour later I came back to the room, the curtain was changed to a new one. However, the room still stank. Now it's a non-smoking room, but the carpet must have absorbed cigarette smoke a lot in the past. I had to spray deodorant/perfume on the floor often throughout my stay.

The entrance of the hotel is located on the first floor of Kyoto Station and it is the best feeling not having to travel far to your hotel after a long day of walking (especially with tired kids). It was so easy to get to all our destinations from this hotel since this is the main hub for all buses, trains, and bullet train. There are also a good amount of food options near the hotel.

The hotel is long with the elevators going up right in the middle of the building. So there is a long walk if your room is at the end of the each wing. There is no laundry machine in this hotel too.

The bedroom was very comfortable, we had a great stay and it suited our needs very well. It had all the necessities we needed and the best thing about the hotel was its location. It is accessible directly from Kyoto station - you can walk right through to the building and built in is a mall where tons of restaurants and shops are accessible. Of all the cities we visited, Kyoto was my favorite and though it was more central (being right at the station) - you do have to plan and work out how to get to other areas via the metro and walk but we didn't mind that. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful too.

The only thing I can think of is perhaps a sign to direct people from the station to the hotel as we went outside the station and didn't realise at first that we could get into it really quickly from the bullet train exit. Aside from that, there really wasn't any negatives that I could think of.

Convenience. It's right in the train station and so easy to navigate to. Close to all the train tracks. Actually it's close to everything including restaurants in and out of the station. The staff were easy to check in with and the self-checkout was easy to do. After a long day of walking and tours, this hotel was a game changer. Good breakfast. Provided with your stay. There was a variety of dishes. It was like a western Japanese breakfast. The scrambled eggs were our fave. Amenities. Very basic, but they give you a bunch in your room and 2 pairs of pajamas. You don't need to pack those items and saves room for more souvenirs to take home.

The room is a little smaller than what we normally have. I believe this is average for a Japan hotel. It was worth it anyway.

Convenient location and there are many restaurants to choose from at all times.

Location is good. There are restaurants, convenience stores and souvenir shops close to the hotel. A few shopping malls are within walking distance. I transferred my luggages to the hotel from Tokyo and missing 1 piece of luggage. The hotel staff followed up and resolved my issue over night. They also take care of the luggages transfer to my next destination which is a huge relief for us. There are not many varieties food for breakfast and is very crowded early in the morning with people from the tours. If you have breakfast after 8:00 AM then it's ok. Will stay at the hotel if I come to Kyoto again.

Location, location, location. Can make the most of your visit by staying at this excellent hotel -- EVERYTHING such as transportation to anywhere AND all the shopping you could want is right in the facility. The hotel is very nice and business professional decor. The included breakfast is excellent. The rooms function really well and are clean and well appointed...they are on the small side.

The room was a bit small...but totally comforable.
