The room was spacious, modern, and very comfortable in a convenient location just a few minutes walk from Kyoto station. With only 4 floors and 22 rooms it was quiet and relaxing to come home to after touring the city. This was the largest hotel room I’ve stayed in while in Japan.

It is in a residential neighborhood, so a bit of a plus/minus. It was peaceful and quiet but other than a couple of local izakayas and the requisite 7-11 not much in the neighborhood. I feel that this was compensated by its proximity to the station though, so easy to get anywhere in the city.

The rooms were very spacious, chic and a pleasure to come back to after a day of sightseeing. Sometimes we went back to the apartment just to hang out. Staff were great, there was complimentary coffee and sake tasting at certain times of the day and plenty of cool great to rent for free. All the appliances and amenities in the apartment were top notch . It was close to Kyoto station to be convenient, but a very quiet location tucked in a small street. Great access to bus services if you don't want to be caught in the station madness.

Nothing we didn't like. The only thing we wish we were able to do was have Yamato luggage services pick up our luggage at the end of the stay, the apartment uses another service which didn't work out for our needs (no Hotel to receive it on the other end, so we needed a service with a depot for us to pick up at). More for awareness for other travelers, it does not take away from a very pleasant stay.

This was truly an amazing stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and spoke English. The front office had coffee or green tea at any given time and had walls of shelves of things that you could freely check out to the room, often by big name brands like Bose and Dyson. even the hairdryer in the room was a Dyson hairdryer. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was so modern and had a lot of stone built into it feeling kind of spa like. We all used the bathtub at various points and it was so deep and luxurious as were the bath products that they offered in the room (full-size bottles not travel size). The shower pressure was excellent. It was also a very close distance from the main Kyoto train station, which was a ginormous train station with tons of food and places to hang out. And a straight shot 10 minute walk to Toji Temple, which ended up being one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I apparently only got a still shot of the hallway, all of the rest were videos.

Love the location! Close to Kyoto Station. There’s quite a few hotels in the vicinity, but the location of 22 Pieces was a street or two from those - so the hotel itself was in a quieter residential area (preferred). Can easily walk to commercial area with restaurants, convenience stores and shopping centers from here (everything is roughly 10mins away) but smaller scattered restaurants/vending machines/convenience stores are just a stones throw away. Property is clean!! We stayed 8 nights. They offer trash cleaning and towel changes every 3 days. They let you pick the days that work best with your schedule, but you’ll need to be able to vacate your room between 9AM-5PM. Pragmatic and spacious room. There was only two of us and the room is equipped to fit at least 3 (there’s 3 mattresses). There’s also a spacious daybed by the wine, great for lounging. We got the room with the dining table. Preferred as we actually used it. Room is brightly and well lit. Appreciated the amount of lighting controls and dimming options. There’s also a well stocked (with utensils and appliances) kitchen, thought we mainly used the water boiler and fridge. Love the shoe rack and coat hangers at near the front door. Cannot get over how pragmatic and well placed things were. Really loved the general layout of the room. Bathroom was also very clean and spacious - equipped with two sinks, one toilet, one shower and one soaking tub. The room has blackout shades, but in the morning it also gets a lot of natural light - it’s very comfortable. Other perks - on the ground floor is a selection of rental items (i.e. projectors, speakers, record players, cooking appliances, cameras, etc). Didn’t take advantage of this so not sure on the specifics of renting. Staff - super friendly! They helped me figure out luggage delivery to and from the airport. Thank you so much!!! Depending on the time, you’ll likely see at least 1 or 2 staff at the reception desk.

Only thing I can think of that could use a little improvement (based on very personal preferences) - towel hooks. There was only 1 towel hook behind the bathroom door. Would love if there was at least 2. The sink vanity does have a long bar for hanging towels, but as the bath towel is larger - when it’s hung on that bar it almost drags on the floor (I eyeballed it and didn’t actually test it out since I didn’t want to risk my towel touching the floor) < it was just a little too close to the floor for my comfort.

Very close to Kyoto train station and well presented modern building with large apartment. The apartment has a digital display lock which opens by feeding information rather than a key or a card. This is amazing as it saves need to carry key or card. The apartments are modern, large and well equipped with modern equipment and amenities. A cinema projector can be borrowed among other things.

Complimentary morning tea or coffee is available at the reception however, no provision for breakfast. This can be made in the apartment as needed with kitchen facility.

The room was very clean and modern. Our room was self-contained with a small fridge, microwave, hotplate, and basic kitchen appliances. It was close to shops and the train station and offered some amenities that we could use if we needed them. The staff was friendly, polite, and eager to answer any questions. The area of the hotel was quiet and easy to walk to other places.

Our stay was for four days, and we could pick 1 day that the cleaners could come in and change sheets and clean. However, rooms are not cleaned daily, and sheets are not changed daily unless you pay an extra cost. The beds are on a deck/platform which makes it very low and hard to get off if you have problems with mobility.

This was hands down, the best accomodation we stayed at in Japan. On entry, the staff were fantastic and always very helpful. The complex and the rooms are very modern and the rooms were just incredible. So much space and all the amenities are provided for you. We were only 2 blocks away from Kyoto station, but incredibly surrounded by surburban housing(and it was so quiet). Very easy to get around and close to everything....If you stay in Kyoto, you MUST stay here

There is nothing we did not like...the place is brilliant

The hotel room is extremely spacious with filled with contemporary design element throughout that we fell in love with the moment we checked in, and feel at home every night we returned from our big day outings. Staff were all very welcoming and helped with all our queries regarding our local area. We’ve had a Shinto wedding at the Oharano Shrine during our stay, and the staff at 22 Pieces were genuinely happy for us and congratulated us throughout our stay. We left our iPad in the room after check out and the staff on duty contacted us immediately, and we were lucky to be able to pick it up just before we depart on the Shinkansen.

Nothing in particular, maybe have the option for a large double or queen bed, instead of 3 single beds? We’ll definitely stay at the 22 Pieces when we next visit Kyoto.

The rooms are beautiful with an awesome amount of space. They are in a quiet area of Kyoto but still just a short walk to the station. The staff are amazing, helpful and speak great english. They had the most comfortable beds for my whole trip! They were very accommodating for my baby and had a heap of items you can use for free as well. They have amazing kitchens in the rooms which are stocked with anything you could possibly need.

Check-in isn't until 4 pm but check-out is until 11am. They will also take your bags for you for a whole day and deliver them to your room when you do check-in.

I love everything about this hotel❤️ Def gonna come back again. The room is very spacious, and the beds are very comfy. The kitchen and washroom are very modern!! They have a Dyson for your hair! Not to mention the coffee drip🥰 and drinking water. I recommend for family and bestie group. Plus Hina the staff was very friendly and polite. The breakfast set was also very yummy. I really love the jams and big soft bread. The hotel location was very convenient as it is very near to Kyoto station and Aeon mall.
