Its a great location for the price. Get to be close to Kyoto station without paying for any frills. Size of the room is adequate for two people. Plenty of eateries close by. Towels changed and bins emptied daily.

Unable to do laundry except during day time. The size of the room is adequate for two people, but a bit of a squeeze with two large suitcases. Felt unwell drinking the tap water, but travelling partner was fine.

It was conveniently close to Kyoto Station. Friendly staff. They kindly disposed of my soleless shoes for me after I bought new ones from the nearby mall. It was possible to borrow umbrellas to go out when it was raining. Laundry was available, though the dryer wasn't great, but there's a laundromat very nearby where you can dry clothes after on-site laundry hours are over so this was also very convenient.

As was made clear in advance, the place is not soundproof. Everyone was very considerate of this, but it was a little stressful worrying about my own noise. The bedding was a single standard thin-style futon. I'm used to places doubling these on harder floors, but it was still okay on the synthetic tatami. There were a couple mosquitoes in the room, but this wasn't really an issue with the accommodations - mosquitoes were very active throughout the city during our stay, so it was probably not something that could really be helped.

Location is only 500 mtrs from Bullet train station Kyoto, thats why we booked this property. We did not have difficulties in locating the Hotel using google map. Bathroom is very compact & toilet seat was having facility to maintian it hot (seating) with automated water jet with pressure & temperature control. Nice & comfortable hotel. 7/11 store was at very close distance & there were many restaurants at walking distance from this hotel.

They did not have microwave in room. Instead one was near reception. Every time we want to heat sanditch we had to go to reception. Since there were no people around, we did not have difficulties in using microwave at reception.

Jacob was the best!!! Have such great personalised recommendations based on our interests and was super friendly and accommodating. The location is great to access from the train station. The rooms are small but it's the city (there all small) - much better than western style accommodations which are common. Price was very fair and reasonable. The shower was quality and clean.

Rooms and building are a little dated... But this was a minor thing.

I really loved Jacob's personality, kindness and also his wonderful voluntary guides and "off the beaten path" suggestions... But all the other receptionists are also so welcoming and wonderful people as well. 🫂😊

I wish the Ryokan could have a breakfast option, and that the architecture could be slightly more traditional... But it's only my opinion, since I also liked my room a lot 🙏

I had a wonderful stay at Ebisu Ryokan! The location is incredibly strategic, with easy access to the train station, making it convenient for exploring the city. The ryokan itself is impeccably clean, providing a comfortable and pleasant environment throughout my stay. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

I was surprised to find that the bathroom facilities were shared among all the guests, which posed some privacy concerns. Additionally, the mezzanine in my room had a steep, detachable ladder that seemed quite precarious, especially for elderly guests. While the ryokan has many positives, these aspects could be improved for a better overall experience.

The establishment was just 10 minute walk to the Kyoto station. It was traditional just like advertised. Compact, clean, with everything one needs for a short overnight stays. The staff was fluent in English and responded properly via Booking.com messaging. One could leave luggage in the front desk area but only during staff working hours (9AM - 8 PM), otherwise it'd be unattended. Alternative is to leave luggage at the train station's lockers which are very chepa (about 100 Yen).

Nothing to complain about. All was great. Just like advertised.

Authentic experience in a beautiful Ryokan. Location is calm and perfect. There is designated place for smoking, washing machine, vending machine. Staff is absolutely 10/10. My partner had trouble sleeping on a mattress on a futon so we asked and got one more. Everyone living is respectful so no noise disturbed. We were in pretty snowy time so it was not too warm in a room ,not too cold either. We are not too smart with ac anyways.

It was amazing and traditional stay. The room was big and we loved the design of the room. I was scared how the futon bed can be comfy but dont worry actually its better then normal bed :)!! I loved the shower room its so big and smart to make it like this.!! We really wanna thanks Jacob for warm welcome and great communication - he helped us with all our question about Japan - thank you really much and we love to go here again in future :)!!

Great experience with living in a traditional Japanese home within a Japanese community. It is a walking distance to the bus, subway and Kyoto station. Very nice and quiet neighborhood. Jacob, the operational manager, was very friendly and helpful. He was fluent on both English and Japanese. He provided guidance on places to see in Kyoto. Best part is they can store your luggage after checking out. Thanks and hope to be back again.
