Customer service was exceptional. We used yamato luggage delivery and our bags were waiting in our room before we arrived! Amenities included in lobby. Location is not far from the train station. Room size was good!

Washing machines can only handle small loads (3kg) and did not dry everything properly even after extending. Laundromat is located nearby. Recommend washing your clothes there.

The hotel staff very super friendly. The room size was decent. We had to squeeze in 4 persons (2 kids - 11 and 12) in 2 queen beds which is not ideal but we managed. The breakfast was refreshing - with limited continental options but plenty of local options. The location was perfect. Walking distance from the main railway station in Kyoto. Plenty of decent restaurants around the hotel. Easy access to 7-eleven and Family Mark for quick grocery or bites. There is also a mall close by. Overall an ideal location with easy access to most parts in Kyoto.

The room size could have been slightly larger. Or the hotel should not allow 4 persons to fit into 1 room (with 2 queen beds) especially knowing that the kids are 11 and 12 years and not toddlers.

Everything was brilliant, Kyoto is an amazing place and the hotel and stay added to that. The location was perfect for us, easy to find, close proximity to the stations and connections to the various routes / attractions. The area was quiet and had various amenities (Lawsons / Family Mart) within very close walking distance. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and spoke / understood English which made communication easier for us. The hotel was very clean and comfortable room / bed. The room was adequate for us, we had two large suitcases and managed to use the space comfortably. We didn’t need to wait for the lift very long, even during the breakfast period. Overall excellent value for money and great hotel.

Very clean, comfortable, all amenities that were needed. Great location. 4 mins to main station and about 3 the other way. Little eateries and convenience stores on the doorstep. Staff friendly. Good value breakfast with some western food. Nice dining area. Rooms were compact (business double?) but manageable. Desk space, kettle, fridge etc. 413 had a city view.

Nothing, unless relying on using wash machines (in evening) with quick turnaround needed. Lucky we had a free morning. Also condenser dryer type so drying took ages.

Excellent base for a couple of days in Kyoto. I've stayed at Banyan Trees and at Regents and at APAs over the decades, so my evaluation is simply a function of how the hotel delivers to my expectations, and my expectations are informed by pricing, advertised services, star rating and country relativities (a 3 star in Japan is as good as a 4 star anywhere else and a 5 star in some countries). This was my first Daiwa Roynet and I expected it to be comfortable and clean and more spacious than an APA room. It delivered exactly on my expectations. I wasn't looking for a view and didn't open the window. I wasn't looking for organic muesli and so the spread they had for breakfast was more than sufficient - simplicity, variety and taste. I wasn't looking to make friends with the staff and I got the prompt professionalism I would expect at a 5 star. (I do speak some Japanese, which helps immensely.) I slept well in the bed and was happy everyday to come back to a clean room with plenty of soap and shampoo and conditioner and towels at the end of my day. The IC card-operated baggage storage after checkout was icing on the cake - super convenient.

No safe in the room. Japan is a safe place but it's nice to be able to lock stuff up when you leave.

Simple no fuss hotel. Good sized room, excellent position for the station even though the position was less good (but perfectly ok) for sightseeing. We stayed for 1 night before we had to take a train out of Kyoto because our other hotel didnt have room for that night.

We were a bit dissappointed by the rather dingy school canteen type vibe of the International breakfast area. It was not in keeping with the rest of the hotel but at least we had a quick breakfast which was included in the price of our room.

The hotel is well located - within a 5-minute walk from Kyoto's main station / Metro Station / Bus stops. It is easy to get to any point in Kyoto. The room was clean and spacious enough (Even though it's rather awkward - to say the least - to call a Japanese hotel: spacious). Breakfast was good, and the staff attitude was good.

Although the lobby staff was very courteous, it was difficult to communicate due to the staff only knowing basic English. Seems like the rooms need some renovation (For example the outdated radio and alarm clock next to the bed, as well as a lack of more charging sockets)

Hotel and people working there are very nice however…

I explicitly asked via booking for the invoice providing all data during reservation. However they did not provided and don’t want to process the invoice. If you don’t want to have troubles and waist your time for explanations avoid it or book it directly via their webpage NOT via booking because later you don’t have an invoice and you don’t know who to blame for it.

Convient location for the train station. Decent price given the over-tourism of Kyoto these days.

I was told at check in that I need to pay ¥2,000 to enter the room 45 minutes early, despite the fact that the room was ready. I understand that it's a big company, and they have rules. But they should allow the front desk staff some flexibility to make guests happy in order to encourage repeat business. There are other big chains in Japan that would not have done it this way, i.e. give me the room for an extra 45 measly minutes.

Professional staff; English good , great cash currency change both notes to coin and smaller denomination,, washing machine & ice, complementary water, cleaning options. Locality great for Kyoto Shinkansen and local and bus terminal as well as restaurants. Roomm size acceptable number of draws and hanging space.

Breakfast boring after a day or so, no bacon or variety, only scrambled 'eggs' but clean and friendly staff. Complimentary water only given if you have room cleaned or ask for change of towels so why not get it done which seems like extra work for your complimentary water. Still loved the hotel accommodation & facilities.
