Customer service was exceptional. We used yamato luggage delivery and our bags were waiting in our room before we arrived! Amenities included in lobby. Location is not far from the train station. Room size was good!

Washing machines can only handle small loads (3kg) and did not dry everything properly even after extending. Laundromat is located nearby. Recommend washing your clothes there.

It was a remarkably comfortable stay. We got the twin room which was unusually spacious. The beds are on the firm side, which suited my partner more. The rooms were very very clean. TV is large and high definition. The laundry status is conveniently displayed on the TV. The laundry machines are combination washer and dryer type and take 2hrs to complete a 3kg load. Luggage is easily stored in the lobby with a lock registered to your IC card. There is an efficient money changing machine in the lobby. The toilet has a convenient little shelf to place small items. My room had a trouser press, humidifier, and shoe horn. Staff were always polite and helpful. It was a nice touch that they allow you to borrow amenities such as umbrellas for rainy days. The location is close to kujo station and kyoto station. If you wish to travel along that line, it is much less hassle to board from kujo. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience that was clearly superior to a similarly priced hotel we stayed in last year.

There is really almost nothing to complain about. Let me think a bit harder. The water from the sink's tap was quite hot even though the handle was at the middle position. The washer/dryer machines say they cannot manage more than 3kg of washing...but I wasn't sure how heavy my items were, and ended up splitting the load just in case.

The hotel staff very super friendly. The room size was decent. We had to squeeze in 4 persons (2 kids - 11 and 12) in 2 queen beds which is not ideal but we managed. The breakfast was refreshing - with limited continental options but plenty of local options. The location was perfect. Walking distance from the main railway station in Kyoto. Plenty of decent restaurants around the hotel. Easy access to 7-eleven and Family Mark for quick grocery or bites. There is also a mall close by. Overall an ideal location with easy access to most parts in Kyoto.

The room size could have been slightly larger. Or the hotel should not allow 4 persons to fit into 1 room (with 2 queen beds) especially knowing that the kids are 11 and 12 years and not toddlers.

Everything was brilliant, Kyoto is an amazing place and the hotel and stay added to that. The location was perfect for us, easy to find, close proximity to the stations and connections to the various routes / attractions. The area was quiet and had various amenities (Lawsons / Family Mart) within very close walking distance. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and spoke / understood English which made communication easier for us. The hotel was very clean and comfortable room / bed. The room was adequate for us, we had two large suitcases and managed to use the space comfortably. We didn’t need to wait for the lift very long, even during the breakfast period. Overall excellent value for money and great hotel.

Very clean, comfortable, all amenities that were needed. Great location. 4 mins to main station and about 3 the other way. Little eateries and convenience stores on the doorstep. Staff friendly. Good value breakfast with some western food. Nice dining area. Rooms were compact (business double?) but manageable. Desk space, kettle, fridge etc. 413 had a city view.

Nothing, unless relying on using wash machines (in evening) with quick turnaround needed. Lucky we had a free morning. Also condenser dryer type so drying took ages.

I really enjoyed the wide variety of breakfast options! I got to try something new each morning. My favorite part of the whole stay was how friendly and welcoming the staff was. The location was GREAT! Just a hop and skip away from all the main areas.

It was a little frustraiting that the clothing I washed didn't dry properly. I ran it for 1 hr and 30 minutes and they still came out damp and steaming. I was also a little annoyed that there was no fan to suck up the moisture in the bathroom.

Excellent base for a couple of days in Kyoto. I've stayed at Banyan Trees and at Regents and at APAs over the decades, so my evaluation is simply a function of how the hotel delivers to my expectations, and my expectations are informed by pricing, advertised services, star rating and country relativities (a 3 star in Japan is as good as a 4 star anywhere else and a 5 star in some countries). This was my first Daiwa Roynet and I expected it to be comfortable and clean and more spacious than an APA room. It delivered exactly on my expectations. I wasn't looking for a view and didn't open the window. I wasn't looking for organic muesli and so the spread they had for breakfast was more than sufficient - simplicity, variety and taste. I wasn't looking to make friends with the staff and I got the prompt professionalism I would expect at a 5 star. (I do speak some Japanese, which helps immensely.) I slept well in the bed and was happy everyday to come back to a clean room with plenty of soap and shampoo and conditioner and towels at the end of my day. The IC card-operated baggage storage after checkout was icing on the cake - super convenient.

No safe in the room. Japan is a safe place but it's nice to be able to lock stuff up when you leave.

Simple no fuss hotel. Good sized room, excellent position for the station even though the position was less good (but perfectly ok) for sightseeing. We stayed for 1 night before we had to take a train out of Kyoto because our other hotel didnt have room for that night.

We were a bit dissappointed by the rather dingy school canteen type vibe of the International breakfast area. It was not in keeping with the rest of the hotel but at least we had a quick breakfast which was included in the price of our room.

Large room, comfy beds, clean, friendly staff.

This is not a con of the hotel but as a tourist staying around Kyoto station imo is not a good location because most attractions are around Gion - and Kyoto station is connected to Gion only through buses, not subway. I did not know this before booking my stay but I wouldn't stay in this area if i were to go again. However, if you do want to stay close to Kyoto Station this hotel is very close to it.

Location was perfect, few minutes walk to Kyoto station. There is family mart next to the hotel and we bought everything from there. We started our journey from Kyoto then finished off at Tokyo. Make sure you forward your luggage through the hotel if you travelling by train to Tokyo because you won’t have a space on the shinkansen. It cost us around 60 Aus dollars to send to checked in size to Tokyo.
