This hotel was extremely convenient located just across Kyoto Station and connect to a mall and the Donki store. The staff, Ms. Yuka, was extremely friendly and helpful. Made us feel at home. The hotel is clean and well lit. Rooms are large compared to typical Japan hotels. Cleanliness was great and room was well equipped. The breakfast buffet and dining view was excellent filled with various selection of good Japanese and western dishes.

Our only complaint is that we didn't have the opportunity to stay longer in this great hotel.

Hotel Keihan is a true gem, strategically nestled in the heart of everything Kyoto has to offer, with its proximity to malls and Kyoto Station making it a convenient hub for exploration. Its seamless connection to nearby shopping destinations and the station means guests can enjoy endless retail therapy without ever needing to step outside, truly enhancing the overall experience.

The vintage interior and language barriers stemming from the staff's limited English proficiency may pose challenges for guests seeking modern amenities and seamless communication.

Prime location next to airport shuttle bus, at Kyoto station and next to bullet train! Right next to Don Quito which is opened 24 hours. Plenty of good options around the area! Free drinks/soup downstairs from 2-8pm, I even had a matcha latte that was legitimate. The room was very big in Japan standards. Short bus/train ride to Gion, Nishiki Market. Friendly staff, very helpful when sending luggage to airport!

The bathroom smelled like sewer, the room had balls of dust in the corners, could be cleaned better!

Hotel right behind Kyoto main train station. You can walk it there by using the basement shopping mall streets. It brings you out next to the hotel's entrance. We upgraded to the 'top floor Suprior' room, which gives you a nice view of the city with its own private entrance lobby. You get unlimited complimentary hot/cold non-alcoholic drinks including a Costa Coffee machine and Nepresso coffee machines/coffee capsules available to take to your room to use.

Room size - this is where I found it a major let down. You'd think 'superior' would mean spacious, but the room we stayed was narrow to a point you almost have to 'shuffle along' between room wall and end of your bed. There was no way you can lay your luggage flat on the floor anywhere. The room has a quirky design; it has a step leading down to a very tight space, next to the window, where they fitted a small couch, small coffee table and a dressing table in the corner. In the end we pushed the coffee table against this couch and laid our luggage out there. The room is on the 13th floor, but you can hear the pedestrian crossings below 'chirping' incessisently as there is a major road intersection next to the train station and hotel. Room was clean, but decor tired.

Location was right across the road from Kyoto Station, 7-Eleven with ATM right next door. Room was comparable to other high-end hotels in major Japanese cities - small but nice for a very good price. Staff was friendly and helpful, spoke enough English to assist with hotel-related matters.

Bed was pretty firm, but I found this to be the case in most of Japan's hotels. I think there's only 1 washer/dryer for every couple of floors, I got lucky with my laundry times, but could be an issue. There is an option for the hotel staff to either clean your room or leave it alone, but I wish there was an intermediate option for the staff to just leave new towels hanging on the doors.

Location is excellent. Right across Kyoto Station which is where you will most likely arrive and leave the city from, and right beside bus stops that have direct buses to and from major tourist attractions. Breakfast was amazing, felt really luxurious with a large spread and some really fancy food items. Cleanliness was great.

Hotel feels a bit old, but that's understandable and not a major issue. It is still very clean and well-maintained. They probably remodeled this hotel after they built the newer branches nearby.

Being across from Kyoto station is convenient. There is also a mall, coffee shop and convenience store attached to the hotel. The room is clean and the shower very nice. Breakfast has a wide variety of buffet choices of all you can eat. The staff allowed for me to check in a little early and a little later.

The price in comparison to other hotels is high. The location doesn’t allow for taxis to come to the hotel so you have to catch the taxi at the station with long line ups. Being so close to the station means a lot of night noises.

The room size is bigger than our other hotel and the location was the near train station. The entrance was straight-forward and it was hard to get lost. The location was great considering it was near a mall and the train station (which I previously mentioned). The room was well spaced and had a good amount of walking space. The place was clean and the room had everything we needed.

To be honest everything was pretty good. There was nothing much to dislike. The only problem was that it was hard to speak with the reception people because they didnt understand much english. It was just a minor inconvience but other than that everything was great.

The friendliness of the staff made us feel welcomed. The location next to Kyoto Station made transportation to other cities very easy. The hotel looked newly remodeled and orovided a welcoming atmosphere. The room was quite comfortable and seemed larger that traditional Japanese hotels.

Everything was excellent.

We loved the location! It was not even a 5-minute walk from the train station. We arrived early and were immediately greeted by the staff, who took our luggage until we could check in at 3 PM. The room was spacious for a family and big suitcases. The view from the room was gorgeous as well!

Parts of the restroom wall (more particularly in the washroom area) were starting to lift, and I wish the restroom lighting were a bit brighter.
