It was my first time in Kyoto and I wanted to get an experience as euthentic as possible so I decided to stay in a ryokan which wouldn't be too expensive at the same time since I'm a student but would provide everything you might find in fancier ryokans around the city. It exceeded my expectations, to be honest! The public bath was clean and had everything you need (shampoo, body wash, face wash, skincare products). There was only one or no ladies at all there in the evening, even though I travelled in a peak season, so I enjoyed a heart- and body-warming bath in a glorious solitude. The managers were extremely helpful and explained how to behave in a ryokan and use the old-fashioned style door key. Special thanks for waking me up with a call for breakfast :D I guess the hot bath was way too relaxing. Hope to be back to Japan and Kyoto again!

Convenient location right by the station so I could walk there easily with my suitcase. The ryokan vibe is legit, it's a multi-level building but my room on the third floor felt like I could have been on ground level (until I opened the sliding paper doors to reveal the windows behind.) They have decorated the rooms to feel traditional but there's still a heat pump and a modern bathroom which kept me very comfortable. I enjoyed the tatami mat and futon experience, though the pillow was a little stiff. Breakfast each day was lovely, I like that you can wear your robe to the dining room. It's very intimate and chill, just a few tables, the table is already set when you arrive and then they come with fresh green tea, hot rice, and to light a candle under the soup. A balanced spread and very cute way to start the day (just be aware you can only choose 7:30am or 8am.) Another big hightlight is the onsen downstairs, there are four baths that alternate every day for male or female use, which means you can try a different bath every day. Amenities are all provided there, you just bring the towel from your room and you can wear your robe on the way back. The baths close at midnight but the drink vending machines downstairs are always available. All in all had such a relaxing stay and wish I stayed in Kyoto longer.
The overhead light in the room is a little harsh, a soft lamp in the room with warm light would make it even more relaxing, and accentuate the cute decor. Interesting system where you leave your key (which is attached to a big wooden key chain) with reception each time you go out. Curfew at midnight. I wasn't in Kyoto to party so the timing worked well for me, but you should think if the curfew is too early for you. For me the house rules add to the quaint charm. But you do you.

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They held our luggage for us until check in time and also after we checked out. We could walk to the train station and many sites. The onsen was awesome. Everything was clean and there was a machine for free coffee, tea etc.. I would stay there again for the convenient location.
Unfortunately, breakfast was not included even though it said so on the Booking.com website. Check in time is rather late being at 4pm and we had to leave rather early at 10am. Since breakfast wasn't included, we had to rush out and then back to check out by 10am.

Clean. Incredibly close to station. Staff accomodated laundry pick-up service. Free coffee/hot cócoa machine in lobby.
Some sounds from the street can be heard in the room (periodic bell ring from station entrance). Tpilet also made dripping noise 30 minutes to an hour after flushing. We were on the 6th floor. Sheets were on the budget side, mildly abrasive. Noise and sheets weren't anything that kept us from a good nights sleep. Our stay was otherwise eventful, and the price point and location worked well with us.

The room was clean and well set up. Check in was very easy and they allowed us to drop our bags off early, and held them for a few hours after check out. The onsen was peaceful and relaxing, and very quiet when I visited. We loved the included breakfast. Location was fantastic, close to Kyoto station
The floor mats were a little thin for my comfort. Walls between rooms are very thin - not ideal for travelling with children, and we could also hear a lot of noise from the street outside.

Very conveniently located next to Kyoto Station. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. Breakfast was delicious and filling. The public baths were great. Having traditional Japanese accomodations was definitely a neat experience.
Nothing really but I will say I was a little beat after running around all day the second day and so had a hard time getting comfortable on the futon. That was the only day though, the other two nights I found it absolutely fine. I do prefer a firmer bed though so if you're used to a really soft bed the Ryokan style probably isn't for you.

The location right in the center next to Kyoto station was really convenient. I booked a japanese-style which was a really great experience. Bathroom was spacey with a bathtub and a modern toilet with bidet. Everything was really clean and the staff was really friendly and helpful. I also really liked the public bath in the basement. I really recommend staying here when visiting Kyoto.
Because the Ryokan is right next to Kyoto station I heard beeping noises (Kyoto station escalators?) and sometimes people screaming and laughing at night. But nothing a pair of earplugs can't deal with. Still 10/10.

The location is perfect! just some steps away from the train/subway station, full of restaurants and bars around (really many options). Bus for some of the main attractions from Kyoto is also very near and the Kyoto Tower is also just some meters away! We took the breakfast since we read that is a tradicional one, and it was AMAZING, the breakfast area were all in tradicional style and the food was wonderful! We really enjoyed the most! The room was pretty big, with more than enough space for 2 big luggages and also the bathroom was good, very clean, with enough space. We also loved that soon we come inside the Ryokan we leave our shoes down and everywhre we go barefoot! :)

Loved staying here and the staff were exceptional. The breakfast was amazing and they even accommodated for my sesame allergy, giving me separate dishes. The public bath was very nice and we used it on all our days there. I loved the face cleansers especially. One of the nights we accidentally left our bag in McDonald’s and the receptionist kindly phoned up for us and we managed to get it back. The room itself was comfortable and a very cool experience. Recommend.
