My stay at Barceló was exceptional. I read the comments before going, and I can say that they exceeded my expectations. -Beach: It was great. It had white sand and not a lot of waves. It is excellent if you go with children or want to chill out. The palm trees are plentiful and protect you from the sun. The beach has a part filled with rocks where a lot of fish swim by, so it is perfect for snorkelling. -Room: Very comfortable, the room's temperature was great, and the cleaning of the room was always on point. I appreciate the detail of the bath rope and shoes. -Food: Everything I ate at the buffet was perfect, and the Spanish night there was also very good. The food was exquisite, and the service in Santa Fe was excellent. I had the opportunity to visit Capri and Santa Fe restaurants, which were terrific. -Activities: The all-inclusive package offers a lot. The non-motorized water sports are included in the package. My husband and I did some kayaking and paddle boarding; it was great. The night shows were well-produced and entertaining; they were very professional. -Installations: I enjoyed the Jaguar Disco and walking at Plaza Mexicana and the mall. All installations are very well-designed and maintained. -Service: I think this one is significant. My plane arrived early, and even though the check-in was not until 3:30 pm I could check in at noon. I left my bags at the reception and started enjoying the hotel. Similarly, as my plane departed very late, I did the check-out at 11:00 am, but they gave me a pass until 4:30 pm to keep accessing all the installations, food and drinks. I appreciate the extra showers and changing room. They were spotless and easy to use, and they included towels. I think this is excellent, as you can enjoy the beach and pool after checking out.

There are just a few things that I think could be improved: -Desserts: I found the desserts were not as good as the food. Some of them were pretty good, but others needed more work. -Service at jaguar disco: as it was very crowded, asking for a drink took a lot of time. I think more bartenders would improve the experience. -Beach chairs: it was difficult to find empty ones; additional seats would also improve the experience.

Everything was great! So clean and well maintained. Was very impressed with the food & beverage. We will be back in December, and Summer of 2026.

The property initially overcharged me over $300+ USD because Booking.com failed to update the property on a guest count change that was made months before arrival. It was quite the hassle trying to work with the staff to show them that the change in guest count was already made and a new balance was presented for us to pay. Finally on the third day, I believe a manager realized that yes, I was overcharged and they did fix it. Ultimately it was Booking.com’s fault. Everything else was perfect!

I liked the location of the hotel, I feel like it is built around the inclusive idea as to not leave the hotel. Facilities were great, Booking got us an upgrade which I didn't expected and was quite a surprise, we got the premium room, treatment and we'd appreciated very much with my wife.

Hotel has no complimentary shuttle service (which by the distance, should have free of charge!). Food could be better, Mexican food served at the buffets is amazing, the rest of the food is just average.

Beachfront location, convenient for water parks

Starting to show signs of ageing - handles falling off drawers, doors not closing properly. And the room had a smell that it hadn’t been used / aired for a while. And the double beds were v small and very soft, meaning that 2 people roll together you feel every movement

The large rooms, the staff, the beach with the coco palms, entertainment, the food, the many, many, many swimming pools. It is a reallly great property and you have access to so many places, pools and restaurants. If you like swimming, you have to go to this place. And I liked the hydro therapy in the spa, which we got free for 1 hour.

Nothing. Maybe that we only had 3 nights, which was too short.

Hands down, the staff made my trip wonderful. This was just an extra night extension to a full week, and the resort is amazing! Hammocks galore! Great buffet! Great infinity pool at the Riviera Maya. Many quaint areas to hang out in the non-adult only locations too! SUPER nice staff!!

We did have a great time at the Barselo Colonial. The property is enormous and you have to walk a lot but for us it was positive as my kids love that they have so many activities. The property was clean and well maintained. The resort was full but we did not feel it (only at the breakfast). The beach was very long and pretty big. There are a lot of additional activities that you have to pay money to do. Food was good, however, we were not impressed with the ala carte restaurants.

The beach had a lot of seaweeds. They tried to clean it but mostly of the times we cannot go in the evenning and just enjoy the ocean, as the beach was covered. The room was not impressive. Definetly required an update. The selection of restaurants was very limited. We were able to eat at two restaurants as other were booked. I was not impressed by the food at all.

The setting is beautiful, the staff is kind and helpful, the grounds are immaculately maintained, and there are many fun activities to take advantage of!

We would like some monitoring of the hallways at night due to noisy people disturbing our sleeping.
