I loved that there was so much character. It was not a hotel atmosphere. Very conveniently located to old town. 15 minute walk from train station, 2 minute walk to the castle. I had a peek a boo view of the Castle and the river. It had a full size bathtub! the room was big, airy and clean.
It was not very well marked. It had a small sign on the door announcing it was the Hotel Capitainerie and a phone number. There is no staff on the premise. Nowhere is it posted that I needed to call the number to get the access code to get into the Hotel. I never received an email or text telling me to call to get an access code. Which I think I shouldn't have had to do anyway, They should have emailed or texted me the code the day my stay began. I waited for over 40 minutes at the agreed time, between 7 & 8 pm, that I had previously emailed with them before I left for my vacation. Finally, someone came by and through hand gestures explained what I needed to do.

The apartment is located just below the castle, which you can see from the window as if it were within arm’s reach – truly an amazing sight for us. At times, you even get the feeling of living in the castle itself. The apartment is old but full of charm, perfectly complementing the atmosphere of the castle and its surroundings. We also greatly appreciated the host’s quick and efficient help: after another stay was cancelled at the last moment, they arranged everything for us within just a few hours, allowing us to enjoy our trip without stress. You’ll love it here!

Extraordinary stay! The building is absolutely astonishing: felt like spending a night in the museum! Though others complained about the check-in, we got the code to get in the second I dialed the number provided on the door. I have no complaints about communication with the host as I am quite introvert myself and it’s enough for me to exchange messages. Overall, we loved the charm of the place!
The only thing: the door to our room was quite difficult to open and close and the lock was broken. However, this didn’t bother us because we felt really safe inside.

We loved the beautiful old building that was quirky and very old. The location was great to enable walking everywhere. From or level 3 room we had great views of the river.
The lock on our bedroom door consisted of a padlock and key. Difficult to take luggage up the 3 levels of very narrow old stairs. No internet access in attic room. Communication with host was slow. Our request for early check in was previously accepted but on day we arrived there was no response from host and we didn't have code to gain access. Suggest that it should be made clearer that it is a shared kitchen and shared living area. Other guest arrived and were equally as surprised to see us.

Great characterful property typically French and comfortable . A fabulous well equipped kitchen dinning room. I would recommend it if you are physically fit as there are a great many stairs to the top floor rooms on an original spiral staircase which is quite steep. The room itself was lovely and overlooked the beautiful chateau . Very short walk to shops bars and restaurants. Great location
The room was on the top floor so the stairs were quite challenging for us at 70 and almost 80 mostly because of the steep spiral stair case . Although we are quite fit

Beautiful room, river view (although that could change), great location, Nice building. I would stay here again especially now that I know about the tricks.
I told the proprietor when I would arrive, precisely when I would arrive. I arrived in a heavy rainstorm, and I was standing at the front door knocking. Nobody was there fortunately I was able to reach the proprietor on the phone and he gave me the access code. There's nothing wrong with that, that's fine, except that I should not have had to stand at the door wondering what was going on. Not appropriate and not courteous. Another client arrived when I was inside. They had the same situation, no information. Lucky for them, I was there to let them in and to explain to them how things worked. This could have been easily fixed with better communication.

The location was excellent. We could see the Royal Chateau from our bedroom window. the bedroom was roomy with lots of character and the bathroom was very large. Beds were comfortable.
There was no host on site when we got there and the door was locked. We would have been in trouble without a phone. We were able to get the door code and find out which room was ours with the help of another guest waiting with us. There was a small padlock on our room door and it was very hard to hook through the door loops to lock it.

Make sure you use +33 and don't use the 0 if you're calling. The owner is brilliant and speaks very good English. The house is amazing: old and majestic and grand. Our room overlooked the river and I've never felt so comfortable whilst getting so historically embedded. The modern conveniences have been added so all of us modern folks are not inconvenienced. I wish I lived there.
I know people struggled to call the owner to get in. Please please try the phone number without the zero and with +33 instead. He's wonderfully responsive.

Beautifully decorated. Our American guests were thrilled. Spacious kitchen and dining areas. Comfortable salon for family. Each of the five bedrooms had an en suite bathroom with toilet, wash basin and Italian shower. Coffee and tea provided. Great views of the river and Château. Convenient location in centreville. The woman providing breakfast was very kind and was able to communicate with non french speakers using phone translation and mime! Wifi worked well everywhere but was sketchy in the top floor bedrooms.
Could use better instructions on how to enter the house on arrival. No one there to greet you so you must rely on phoning someone for door code. The TV was French only channels, but on US films you could change the language to English. The stairs are ancient and uneven but sturdy enough. Beware if you are older or have young children! The Senso coffee machine needs replacing. It has a false contact with the water container, but we were able to get it to work by holding the reservoir in place. Other types of coffee machines worked fine. Countertop lightning situated under the overhead cabinets also had a faulty connection. We only discovered this and got the lights to work on the last day of our visit. Bit of a plumbing smell in the ground floor toilet and bedroom bath.

The room is magical - in what would have been the kitchen of medieval home. I loved it. Great shower, great location
It would have been really helpful to be told the door code / key access rather than arriving and expecting someone to be there to meet you. I managed to call and was then given the door code....but I was a bit worried for a moment!
