This small hotel is beautifully maintained, with an excellent on-site restaurant, grounds, and heated pool. Rooms are spread over three buildings--the main three story building, one two story building facing the gardens, and one two story building with three units (a former stable from appearances). Our Superior Family Room was located in the last building and was quite comfortable, large, and well-equipped. It did, however, require walking up a steep, winding staircase with no elevator available. The breakfast was excellent. The location is within 5-10 minutes of several excellent restaurants, the chateau, and Leonardo da Vinci's home.

The property should be clearer about where rooms are located and what access limitations, if any, they have. The main building has an elevator--at least one of the two other buildings does not. A steep, winding staircase is not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. In addition, the hotel should be clearer about where its units are. For example, rooms in the main building or the building facing the gardens are much more desirably located than those in the former stable (a fact I'm not sure is represented in the price). The only other negative is that the turn off the street into the parking area is quite tight.

It was a beautiful, historic property in the center of the small city of Amboise. We walked pretty much everywhere within 5-10 minutes, to wonderful little shops and restaurants. The breakfast at our hotel was lovely with many different options such as eggs done to order, fruit, different meats and cheeses, and lattes and cappuccinos. On a warm afternoon, after a little sightseeing, we would retire back to our wonderful little sanctuary and relax by the very private pool, very enjoyable!

Our room was quite small, but we were not able to get a larger one for our booking time. That being said, the bed was very comfortable and the room was well appointed!

Absolutely exceptional in every aspect, especially the kitchens, the Head Chef & her team are phenomenal, the entire dinner service team are outstanding, & most importantly for solo travellers, like me, the entire Housekeeping team are super efficient, rapidly adapt to the different lifestyles of different types of traveller, & are the driving force behind creating a homely & welcoming atmosphere for everyone, & they genuinely care whilst maintaining that all important "no-nonsense" attitude (no lemon yoghurt for room service breakfast tomorrow, would you like strawberry instead? Yes please & thank-you) which is essential for the clientele to all receive the same outstanding Housekeeping service. Always smiling, always taking the time to "chit-chat" in the gardens, just for a few seconds of their day, really did make this one of my very best ever travelling hotel stays.

One evening Reception staff needs further training. One person on the team needs to keep looking after the clientele, even over lunchtime, & not stay at the bar, drinking with his friends. Otherwise, perfect, thank-you.

Central location in old town, free parking onsite, beautiful room with comfie large bed, and the hotel restaurant for dinner was superb. Staff were also super friendly and helpful.

Its not a dislike but more of a let down after the fab meal the night before...the breakfast was very basic for the money. But it was nice to have the option of eating in the hotel. I would stay here again and eat dinner in the dining room, but would probably skip breakfast. Would have been nice to have a Nespresso machine in the room. The instant coffee and powdered milk were not great...having a Nespresso or cafetierre with real coffee and a little pitcher of milk in the fridge or liquid creamer would lift it up a notch, but not a deal breaker for us.

What a beautiful property. All staff were welcome and kind, they rushed through a bag of laundry for us to be ready same day and did not charge extra. Dinner at the hotel was also delicious, service excellent, would do again. If you are driving around the area it is so nice to come home to parking as well. The location is such that you do not need a car to thoroughly visit Amboise itself. It was a high end experience without feeling pretentious or rigid in any way. The room and bed were very comfortable, the mattress was firm and bed large enough my husbands feet did not hang off the bed - can be tough to find in Europe.

The hotel manager, Gregoure, made the stay very easy and pleasant! He was extremely helpful with recommendations, he was pleasant and smart. He recommended the restaurant at the location and put us on the waitlist, and luckily we were able to get in . He notified the chef of my gluten intolerance and nut allergy and the restaurant was able to accommodate. The grounds are beautiful with a very nice heated pool (I did not use) in addition they have a sauna which you can reserve. Also in a town where limited parking is available they have a wonderful parking lot on property which is monitored by the front desk.

Our room was on the top floor of the main building with elevator access. Lovely French decor and a nice outlook to the garden. Parking on site was great. Easy walk to the town centre. Also would recommend the dinner (tasting menu) in the restaurant.

We booked two rooms assuming they would both be in the same building but they weren't. This wasn't an issue but best to request this if you would like to be together. Lounge and bar area was set up for dinner service which made it difficult to find a space for four people to enjoy pre-dinner drinks.

The setting, hotel, facilities and staff are delightful. Staff are so helpful and make you feel you are staying at a very nice house as a guest rather than a hotel. The food in the restaurant is also delicious and good value for money for a fine dining experience. We would definitely come back.

The attic rooms were a little small and quaint - even at 5'7" I bumped my head a few times. Taller guests may struggle. the room was lovely though and we so enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful facility with lovely staff. Great location making it easy to walk to sites nearby. Very comfortable beds. Great breakfast and staff in restaurant and bar.

I wish they had told us when we booked to make dinner reservations at that time at the restaurant in the hotel. This is important as most restaurants are closed in town on Sunday and Monday. We wait listed there and did get in on Monday night.

The accommodations were, charming, beautiful and extremely comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was amazing , chef outstanding, we had a delectable culinary adventure at a very fair price and great service. The property is beautiful, many places to sit and enjoy the yard and many small lounges areas with beautiful antiques and table games . We highly recommend. Extremely good location as well, lots to see just in the town of Amboise.
