Staff very welcoming, and even though I arrived before noon, they had a nice room ready for me. I really appreciated the decor - the carpeting in the hallways a vibrant modern floral design, the wallpaper very cheerful and amusing. Large bathroom with lots of room and space to put my toiletries. The rack for hanging clothes was very convenient. I also appreciated the wool-type blanket at the end of the bed. Everything seemed high quality. Room was quiet. I liked that there were different areas where the guest could choose where to sit at breakfast.

The breakfast had good variety, but the scrambled eggs could have been cooked a bit more and they were not hot. The bacon was very good but also not kept hot. The coffee machine was a bit complicated and it seemed the coffee was not hot enough. The heater in the room was difficult to regulate - very hot when I arrived, and had to have the front desk host come up to adjust it. But then it was fine.

Maison Barbillon is a very convenient, short walking distance from the train and bus stations, and an easy walking distance into Grenoble's city centre. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the facilities are great. I loved the machine in the reception/breakfast area that was available 24/7 to make coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The breakfast buffet was delicious and fueled me easily for the whole day. My room was small, but very comfortable. I'd happily stay there again anytime and certainly recommend.

Nice, comfortable hotel. Had a pleasant, hop, vibe. Might be part of a chain but doesn't feel like it. The staff was friendly and efficient. The hotel is a few steps from the main train station. The room had all the necessary basics--towels, soap, etc. It also had a decent TV with a couple English stations showing movies, which was a nice break. Breakfast was very nice and there was coffee and cake available in the afternoon for a snack.

After giving this some serious thought, I don't think there was anything that we didn't like. Not a large, fancy, hotel but it served us very well for two nights in Grenoble.

Strategically located near the main station and just 10 minutes from the inner city. Friendly staff and decent breakfast. Internet works fine. Rooms are clean. They also provided us free parking for one night in the garage.

Our room was really small, whereby you struggled passing each other around the bed/on the way to the bathroom. Overall the quality was around 2-star level, although it's overall a 3-star hotel. The reception didn't really know about how the bus up to Chamrousse for skiing works.

The breakfast was excellent, plenty of choices, everything we tried was good. The location near the train station made it convenient to get anywhere using public transportation.

The only issues were ones we created ourselves. The room was a bit tight in space, but my daughter and I had a lot of bags as she was a student studying here for a semester and was coming home, so all of her stuff had to come home.

The interior design gave me the feeling I was home, the staff were very gentle and made the best to accommodate us despite the hour of our arrival. The breakfast didn't include a large variety of choices but those that were served were quite delicious, well equalibrated, and fresh. Free drinks and healthy snacks were available during the day in the hall. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet. The location is a big plus.

The size of the room was a bit small for 2 people, the pillows were not comfortable and weirdly they were smelling not good but the lady who was cleaning our room the next day helped us with this issue. The sheets were a bit harsh, which caused me skin irritation for a while.

It was perfect. The hotel is located in the vicinity of the main station, but it is very quietly located in a smaller street. The staff is extraordinarily friendly. Hot drinks and small snacks are available during the day.

Very friendly staff who had a good level of English, breakfast buffet had some good non-dairy options (e.g. soya milk), as well as cereals, meats, cheeses, apple puree, toast, baguette. Great to have free tea and coffee available in the lobby area, as well as record player and vinyl!

The handy man came to fix my toilet button - but this was without warning, I just arrived back to my room door wide open! But, I was ok with him fixing my toilet whilst I packed my suitcase.

The room was excellent and the inclusion of a bath tub in the bathroom was very much welcomed after a long day of hiking. I wasn't able to check in early but the receptionist very kindly offered to look after my large rucksack until I could come back to check in. The location is nice and close to the station and in a nice area.

Possibly a bit expensive in my opinion but in smaller places like Grenoble there's not a lot of choice, so prices aren't as competitive. It definitely provided a great place to stay though. I recall breakfast being fairly expensive, but again I suppose the types of people who visit are generally richer types. I'd have to eat a huge amount of breakfast to justify (roughly) 15 euros, so I didn't try it but I'm sure it was nice.

The staff is terrific and provided much needed guidance on local options such as the télépherique and local communes. I did not take breakfast but it looked good. They have coffee and tea available at all hours, very nice.

The temperature in the room could not be adjusted, so it was a little stuffy for the springtime. I removed the blanket from the bed and just used the duvet cover, so it was ok.
