The property oozes charm. It’s delightful, historic and extremely well maintained. Breakfast is available for an additional nominal cost and there are plenty of fresh & healthy choices. The location in Kientzheim is perfect for exploring Alsace. I would most definitely suggest staying in this village versus, say, Colmar. There’s also complimentary parking at the rear of the hotel. That’s a big advantage. Our suite was large and well appointed.

Depending on the location of your room, there could be quite a few sets of stairs to navigate. If that’s an issue, suggest making that known at the time of booking. There are certainly rooms available which don’t require stairs. Just flagging this to avoid any unpleasant surprise on arrival.

Amazing beautiful ancient building, in a quiet small and pretty village. Spacious room with balcony, clean and comfortable.

1. We asked to not have to climb many stairs, because of our physical limitations (age). The room we got was defined as ground floor on messages but was actually 2 floors up. 2. There is a kettle for making coffee however they supply only 2 small sachets of instant coffee, and only disposable paper cups. Not fun to drink from, and if you have coffee at night, you have none for the morning.

Out of 8 different hotel stays in 8 days, L'Abbaye d'Alspach wins for the breakfast, well-equipped and modern bathroom and a beautiful view from the balcony. We spent the night in No. 8. Cozy and very authentic hotel with an interesting history. There was air conditioning in the room, which was absolutely perfect in the summer heat. The breakfast buffet was really good. And it was constantly filling up. By the way, there were many guests at breakfast, with some thinking that they are sitting at home in the private room (lack of understanding that there are other guests). Good parking conditions which required a code from reception. Kientzheim is not a village with several hotels and restaurants. It's actually nice. A few kilometers from the village you will find plenty of places to eat.

Cleaning could be a little better in the room. We found long hairs in the bed and in the shower. WiFi connection was unstable from the room my wife and I were staying in.

Beautiful old building with lovely charm, we liked the comfortable room with air conditioning. We chose a superior room which was large and in the main building. We got there early and our room was ready, which was good. Just a short stroll to the castle where our family wedding was taking place.

Ceramic cups would’ve been nice rather than paper cups.

The property is very charming. Our room was huge with 2 comfortable chairs and a comfy bed. Everything was sparkling clean. Loved the shower. Wifi worked OK. Plenty of free parking. The village is very quiet, although some might find this to be a concern that there is little to do there. We loved it and it is nicely located near the more visited and busier town. Loved the church bells of the nearby church.

The only issue was that breakfast was very basic. OK, but we had expected more.

Typical continental breakfast, all cold buffet, all good. Room was a deluxe so had more welcome space. Hotel old with lots of character. Plenty of shelf and hanging facility for our clothes. Car parking was a plus, plenty of space, free and secure.

Our room was 53 steps up stone spiral stairs, not good for two 67 year olds, one who has a medical condition making this difficult. For that reason would request a different room if we stayed there again. No facility for an evening meal, The bed was not the comfiest I’ve slept in.

The property itself was lovely, the birds int he morning were extremely loud despite the windows being closed and the church bells ring from 6am (or they did when we stayed (sat to Sunday) so ear plugs are a must!

I rarely leave reviews to hotels on bookings.com, but I feel like this time I gotta share this. To our surprise, the hotel is actually in the medieval town of Kientzheim with a beautiful structure and vibrant color. Hotel itself has a parking lot which is very nice but parking is limited if arriving late at night then the only available parking will be on the street right outside of the hotel which is not bad all all. The hotel is about 20 minutes to Colmar, 13 minutes to Riquewihr and 30 minutes to Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg. Location is absolutely great! Also there are lots of Château ruins around the area. We had a room with two twin beds and requested for an extra bed because we have a little kid. Room is spacious, clean and very cute. The view from our room is also nice and we could see some of the vineyard. The bathroom is clean and the shower was spacious and the hot water was great! The ladies at the reception were very friendly and professional. The entire reception area is also very nice especially the intricate tile floor. We also strolled through the medieval town on those cobblestone roads and got to see many unique houses. The breakfast cost extra but affordable and the kitchen provided various options for protein, carbs and minerals. With all being said, if you would like to stay a few nights in this type of hotel, I highly recommend this one which was building back in 12th century.

The room was great, a really good size and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was also really nice. The location is fantastic, our room had views out over hills covered with vineyards. Genuinely lovely.

Not the hotel's fault at all but it wasn't actually as easy as we expected to find places to eat nearby. Many were fully booked, and often didn't open a lot of days. We found places in the end, but it was very necessary to call and pre-book

The location was very good - centrally located, easy to find and easy to park. The property met our expectations, breakfast was wonderful - many choices of fresh fruit and other items.

There are not enough hooks to hang up overnight clothes, jackets and cosmetic bsags and shaving kits. In addition, it is hard to find a large enough flat surface with sufficient charging ports to charge our phones and other electronics.
