The stay at Hôtel Vaubecour was so much beyond my expectation. I literally wowed when seeing the digital piano in the dining room. The everyday piano time brought me so much peace. It was easy to find things to do around. One thing I would definitely remember about the city was the 2 beautiful rivers, which were in walking distance from the hotel. It calmed my mind when I walked alongside the river bank and saw people sit on the bank cozily. Besides picnic, some were even playing with the water with their feet or having a chat with the geese. How cute! Chuanying, owner of the hotel, was super considerate in everything, trying to provide the guests with the best travel experience. It was a blessing to know her. And the staff were friendly too, always wearing smiles on their faces. Q an adorable place. And such a charming city. À la prochaine !

The owners greeted us with a warm and welcoming disposition, and they were very helpful. The lady assisted us with a route to guide our walk around the city, and the gentleman assisted with a restaurant for our evening meal. We highly recommend this hotel - the location is near to the metro. The ambiance of the hotel is that of modern facilities in an old world building. Delightful.

Notably, they offered clear and concise instructions for a seamless late-night self-check-in, ensuring a smooth process for obtaining the keys.

The hotel is a beautiful historical building with high ceilings and large windows, and with an elevator! The neighborhood is quiet and the staff is amazing. They went out of their way to accommodate us, going over and beyond. I have truly never met such flexible, kindhearted, and caring staff in all my travels. The breakfast was amazing, fresh from the bakery next door. A truly glamour French experience!

Hotel Vaubecour is a small, cozy hotel located in an historic building conveniently located on Presqu'ile. The beds and pillows were super comfortable, the bathroom decent-sized and modern. A small lift will carry those preferring not to walk up to the 2nd floor. Breakfast consisting of croissants and baguettes, yogurt, cheese, coffee and orange juice is available. You must order the day prior, however. Coffee is available in the room as well. The best part of our experience though was interacting with the kind and helpful staff. They are wonderful representatives of both the hotel and the city of Lyon.

This is not a negative about the hotel. If coming by car, please reserve a parking space in advance. Because we were not aware of the need to book a space, we ended up paying quite a bit more for a public parking space further from the hotel than the one that is located a few minutes' walk away.

The hotel was charming, very well located. The building is a beautiful tenement, with an old and beautifully decorated gate, elevator, and stunning old-school windows. The room was compact yet comfortable as it combined the historical elements of the building (like fireplace, unique shape of rooms, large windows) with a modern comfort of a short stay accommodation. However, for a stay longer than 1 night (especially if I wasn't travelling alone) I would probably look for a bigger space . Bathroom was recently refurbished, shower had a great water pressure, towels very soft and not worn-down. The kettle was small but adequate for 1 person use, the tea/coffee "station" was a bit dusty and so were the corners of the room. As my room had windows into the inner yard it was fairly quiet. Both women I spoke to at the reception desk were kind and helpful.

The cleanness of the room floor (corners) could be improved

Hotel is on the second floor of an old building which has been tastefully renovated. The entrance is just beside a small supermarket and once you come to the inner door, use the buzzer on the right to gain access. The hotel is the last door on second floor! The staff are polite and friendly, the room was clean and of a decent size for France! Vieux Lyon is a 10 minute walk away, and the rest of the city not much more than that! Numerous cafes and restaurants nearby. We availed of the €10 breakfast that the hotel provides on our last morning and it was well worth it with fresh bread, croissants, cheese, yogurt, coffee and juice. Overall, a great place to stay in Lyon.

Bed was a little small but that’s just being picky.

The hotel was charming. Yes the room was very small and the facilities were basic but I was aware of that when I booked and I had the single room. The room was wonderfully comfortable and spotlessly clean, the hot water immediate and the bed terribly comfortable.The room was cleaned every day. Breakfast was simple but delicious. The location was really convenient and the staff were always happy to assist and you really got the impression that whatever the issue a solution would be found accompanied with a smile.

Nothing but probably would book a bigger room if staying longer than a few nights

The staff were particularly warm and friendly and willing to let me practice French. The hotel was very clean. My room was small but smartly fitted out and pleasant to spend time in. The location was excellent. I walked everywhere.

On one hand, the building’s entry/stairwell/staircase is not sufficiently lit. The lights don’t go on or if they go on they don’t remain on long enough. On the other hand, the entry to each chambre is unnecessarily equipped with an annoying sensor light which is triggered by movement in the passageway. I recommend a normal light switch not a sensor light.

Location is great. Close to the Ampere metro station - 3 min walk. Location was good for sightseeing. For the metro and trams, you can buy a day pass for "family" and use it for 2 adults and 3 minors and it costs 6.70 euros a day. We were going to take the Rhone Express to the airport to fly out of LYS but pre-ordered an Uber for 49 euros to save ourselves from rolling our luggage to the metro station and having to change to the Rhone Express.

Our room did not have anywhere to hang our clothes. Some hooks would be nice and some hangers. When we arrived, it was a bit confusing on how to access the buidling. I rang the bell a few times before the 1st door opened and we had problems with the 2nd door until someone came down to open the door. The hotel is on the 2nd floor and the elevator is very small. Once you are given a key fob, access to the building is not an issue. However, I would be careful if you need to check in after 8 pm - you will definitely need to let them know.
