The house is very interesting with eclectic furnishings and artwork throughout. Breakfasts were very healthy. Hosts were friendly. Pets good as well. Convenient for the old town and Roman history of Nimes.

Paying was a pain (we had to go to a cashpoint and draw money out!); WiFi didn't work in the bedroom. Just one sodt chair and just two hangers. No tea or coffee in the room. It didn't particularly bother us but there was no TV. But all very testefully decorate with Robespierre looking down on us!

La Maison Rousseau has the air of an old fashioned guest house - with all the charm and warmth that implies - when we arrived we were greeted with tea on the terrace - a beautiful jungle like space open to the skies. From the outside the building looks like a typical old Nimes house with shuttered windows with plants on the sills - inside it has been transformed with huge double height spaces, glazed walls set in old timber beams and furnished with an eclectic mix of modern and antique - Matthieu and Jean-Louis are helpful and kind without being intrusive - we stayed three nights - toured the region - then returned for two further nights - I thoroughly recommend a visit.

The location, the uniqueness of the decor and experience. And of course, the breakfast. Very generous and delicious. To sit outside one morning was exceptional.

The check-in was a small problem. No-one was there when we arrived. We had to contact via text so we weren't sure our message got through. All worked out though.

The decoration of the house is wonderful, to every last detail. It creates a really lovely atmosphere. I loved having breakfast in the patio filled with plants. The breakfast itself is very good: varied and fresh. Mathieu's restaurant recommendations were great.

No blackout curtains. Not a criticism, just so you know.

The breakfast was superb: fresh breads, coffee, delicious cheese, yogurt and fruit. It was served as if you were a long awaited guest in someone’s home. What a romantic setting! One of the high points of our trip.

Everything about our stay was wonderful.

Mathew our host was welcoming and accommodating. The house is a fabulous museum of antiques, eclectic and fascinating Not many toilets have genuine prints of Napoleonic propaganda on the walls, and 18th c. books on the shelf. It is all eccentric and wonderful. The breakfasts were superb! So is the location.

Breakfast was beautifully presented with great attention to detail. I have a gluten and dairy intolerance and special bread was purchased and served with an egg . The jams and preserves were artisan and most enjoyable.

The cured meats had milk in them , which cut down the choice available .

Quiet but central location. Great breakfast and warm and friendly service.

Not a fan of a bird in a small cage - outdated.

Stunning room with Moroccan style bathroom in a beautiful, historic house, filled with interesting antiques and curios. And then a delicious home made breakfast served in a quiet courtyard. Fantastic place.

Beautiful, quirky building in the heart of Nimes. Matthieu is an excellent host who serves a fabulous breakfast in beautiful surroundings. He was very helpful even when our flight was massively delayed and we didn’t arrive until 1am! Gave us maps of the town and earmarked good places to eat and drink. Friendly and helpful, allowing us to hang around to wait for our taxi to leave at 7pm.

Nothing. It has all the charm and elegance you could want and the location is perfect.
