it has character, the rooms are extraordinary in terms of interior design, very majestic and super comfortable bed.

Some parts of the room are a bit old, the shower is a bit outdated, on one side of the bed the light was not plugged and we were unable to plug it. The building is old and that has a charm but it could maybe use a little refresh in the room we booked, not saying it is like that in every room. However the staff and the roomsize and design, location, parking, and price make up for it. Also two years ago we were in another room on a higher floor which was extremely modern and just new. So it’s not every room for sure.

Fantastic location on Place d'Assas, great for atmospheric aperitifs and a lazy al fresco breakfast. Well placed for the Jardins de la Fontaine, the roman monuments, the old town, the art galleries and a multitude of bars and restaurants (Restaurant Carre d'Art and neighbourhood Italian L'Officine are stand outs within a short stroll). 15 minute walk from the station.

Dancing in the Place at weekends added atmosphere, but noisy. Room cleaning everyday, whether wanted or not. Non-superior rooms looked small & claustrophobic.

Nice quirky decorated hotel in a fabulous location. We were a bit late in booking a room so had only the choice of a tiny standard room but it was comfy especially for one night. Parking is under the hotel and is the main parking garage for city center and hotel gives you a discount on the parking. They also have a restaurant. Breakfast served to you on a huge tray and is typically a continental breakfast, French bread, croissants, yoghurt, jams etc. If you are looking for more of an English/American choice go outside the door.

We just couldn’t find the parking easily but 2nd time around the block there it was. Not a problem for us but there is no lift in the property.

The Royal Hotel was a delight to stay in. The staff were just amazing when we arrived as they changed our twin bed room from the second floor to the first floor to help my wife who had difficulty climbing the stairs. Both rooms were the same size and looked out on to the piazza where the restaurants are and the beautiful fountain. Breakfast each morning was very good value and delivered on a tray in the breakfast room. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere making the most of the historic building.

Loved the rooms - the family room number 2 was amazing - it was huge, consisted of 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms and the view from both sets of windows were super! Trees, road, people passing by/ on terrace, not too noisy but good vibes. Nimes is an incredible city what with its positive energy, space to breathe, green trees, water features and clean streets and modern feel and ancient buildings and great food market hall.

If the walls had been lighter/brighter (they were painted dark blue, they were classy but dark) and if the room had had a kettle and / or a mini fridge I would have given it a 10. Plus the door lock is a bit unusual but I did feel safe v.

The hotel is faIrly central and has designated parking in a public car park just around the corner from the location. It has a restaurant for an evening meal. Our meal was absolutely terrific. The bar doesn't open even to residents until 6 but It's a very funky hotel. Some decorative items in the room could be replaced with coffee/tea making facilities. The art work is great fun.

No problems for us, but there is no lift and the laid-back atmosphere both in the hotel, bar and restaurant may not suit everyone. Some elements of the bathroom could be improved and drawers not opening in the room and plastic bedhead very worn and torn. Cold radiators - which was remedied. (November) Breakfast is basic , nothing cooked, croissants, juice, etc.

Location could not be better the room needed a kettle to make tea no English tv except youtube no lift to bring up heavy suitcases but staff obliged and took our cases up so no problems there. A bit noisy from speeding motorcycles but did not disturb us at all,Just noticed it when all is quiet.our room overlooked the openair restaurant but that didn’t annoy us in the slightest as we kept the windows shut which solved a potential problem

Our trip was for a special birthday so we had booked 4 rooms. All rooms were lovely and the hotel itself is wonderful. It's a beautiful old building but with a modern design "quirkiness" that makes it special. It's perfectly located - central but not in a noisy location. The staff could not have been nicer. They went out of their way to help with our celebrations - chilling champagne, for example. It was a lovely few days and Nimes is definitely a destination to seek out. The food in Nimes was all up to French standards and the hotel provide a great breakfast.

I loved the location! The receptionist that checked me in and the one who checked me out were excellent and super at their jobs. My room was tidy and immaculate and very comfortable. The location was idea.

I wanted a quiet drink one night but the terrace was busy and as a solo traveller I felt I couldn’t take up a table as I had been informed the double table would be needed should a few people arrive.
