This was our first stay at the Alpengruss and we have now found our preferred hotel for the area. We stayed in a (what used to be....) high end hotel in Garmisch last year, but were very disappointed so tried the Alpengruss this year. The location is perfect. Just out of town but an easy 4 minute walk to the train station and a few restaurants (the Italian restaurant Fresco do a very good mojito btw...) Our room was a good size, absolutely spotless with a fabulous shower. Breakfast was plentiful, lots of choice and super fresh. All the staff were lovely. We'd arrived later than expected but check-in was easily sorted with the key-safe. We'd also stupidly acquired a parking ticket and asked where in town to pay but the kind lady at reception sorted the online transaction with us. The honesty fridge in the lounge area was a very nice touch. The addition of a coffee machine there (with a charge of course) would be a bonus. Thank you for everything. We will be back.

We found everything perfect.

Good location, close to everything, you can walk to small river and have a relaxed time. Zugspitze and Eibsee are close and easy to visit (beautiful places!) We had room for 3 with balcony, very nice room, two armchairs made it more comfortable. Great breakfast, warm eggs are offered, a lot of fruits, tees etc. We received guest card of the region, that allows free use of public transport and discount on some attractions.

Nothing really. One small suggestion is to put a kettle in the room, to be able to make some tea in the evening. Although coffee and tea are offered for free in the lobby, its not warm enough.

Beautifully presented throughout and spotlessly clean. Good breakfast with plenty of choice, including optional scrambled or fried eggs or pancakes available to order. Our room was large and well presented, very comfortable and had a great view. Restaurant staff were all very welcoming and helpful. Well located for the centre, approx 15min walk.

No lift! Not fun having to drag very heavy cases up two steep flights of stairs. I don't know whether ground floor rooms are available, but if not, it would be impossible for wheelchair users or those with mobility issues to stay here. Parking on site could be difficult due both to very limited car park size but also on occasion the inconsiderate parking of other guests. Street parking in the area was highly controlled and the signage was not clear (for international tourists who'd be unfamiliar with it). It was only thanks to the kind intervention of a neighbouring property owner we didn't unwittingly park in an area where we would have been fined.

The location of the hotel was very convenient for us given that we had a car. We even stepped out a couple of days to find restaurants close by. The property is also close to the train station and hence was very convenient if one chooses to come by train. There was ample parking at the property. Our hotel room was very good and was very clean. We had a balcony and the view was beautiful as well; ideal for when you want to just relax. The room did not have a kettle for hot water but it can be requested at the reception. If one wants a tea or a coffee, one needs to step down to the common area downstairs, a tad bit inconvenient to step down when you are just in your pajamas. The breakfast was delicious with several options. All the staff in the breakfast room and the reception were very kind and friendly. Thank you for the hospitality!

Nothing that I can think of really.

Breakfast: they make scrambled eggs and pancakes to order. There's a very good variety of food besides that, as well. Room: good beds, excellent shower, all we needed. Ski storage: present on the ground floor. Staff: friendly, helpful and accommodating. Short walk from the Zugspitzebahnhof (the station where the train leaves for all the lifts on the mountain). Several dining options nearby (near the station), lots more a short walk beyond that.

Incredible stay for a weekend at this gem in the Alps. The room was absolutely lovely, super clean and tastefully decorated, with the best shower and comfortable bed that I have seen in awhile at a hotel. The breakfast spread was definitely a proper one - tons of options and is open nice and early, perfect for trekking. The location is also convenient to start hiking from on the various routes in the areas.

The best part was for sure breakfast: high quality, tasty food, and coffee, perfect to kick off a full day of hiking. The room was spacious, the balcony had a nice view, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were tidied up every day. It was great to have a minibar, too.

Our room had a sloping roof and my partner is 196cm tall, so it wasn't that comfortable for him (We didn't think of requesting a room without it when we booked, though). Also, the stairwell was a little too low for him, he hit his head a couple of times when walking downstairs :(

A lovely family run hotel in a great location within Garmisch-Partenkirchen. You could not ask for anything better. Very comfortable beds, modern rooms and bathroom, great views, an outstanding breakfast. The family owners and staff could not do enough for you. A great outside seating area to enjoy the drinks from the honesty bar. Our stay was definitely memorable in every way as we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in this fabulous place.

The hotel is located in a beautiful and quiet area facing the mountains. Walking distance from downtown Garmisch. The staff is very friendly, and professional. The house was very clean with plenty of space and linen for guests. The breakfast was excellent. Everyone spoke English language and it was easy to communicate.

Excellent and quiet location, half way between restaurants and starting point for walks, as well as the train and bus station, all in easy walking distance. Good parking. Cozy rooms, thoughtfully furnished. Fantastic breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.
