Very personal and cozy atmosphere at this hotel with a long history. Friendly and helpful staff. Good vegetarian breakfast buffet in the beautiful and very cool space above the reception. The whole place has a chic feeling to it, second hand furniture in the restaurant and lobby, lots of books, odd beautiful coffee cups… Little nice details like a free drink included and glass bottles to fill with sparkling water and bring to your room. Excellent location with walking distance from the train station and to The Grimm Museum, view over the valley, center of town etc.

They informed me that I had to leave my key at reception whenever I left the property. WTF??? I was not made aware of this in advance, otherwise I would not have booked a room there. It I not my problem that the rusty, old and ugly keychain is not made anymore and they are afraid of loosing it.

If you like to sleep with the windows open don't forget your earplugs. If you're a light sleeper you might need them even with windows closed. Traffic outside is quite loud

A very large room and bathroom with a TV, plenty of windows for natural light, a large desk. Good location with Grimmwelt a short walk away and the other main sites not too far either.

No aircon in the rooms; there was a fan but the large windows mean the room gets very hot (even with the blinds drawn) and the fan cannot keep up. I'm 6'3" and was unable to stand up straight in the shower as the roof was so low.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Were you to do a drive past you would continue driving. It looks like something from a communist era country. Instead it’s a play on the New York grove. Once inside the sizeable room everything that I needed worked. The mood lighting isn’t the greatest but it is a holiday after all. The tea, coffee and water facilities on the mezzanine floor were a bonus as was the lounge attached designed for leisurely comfort. The hotel is perfect for families as it isn’t intimidating or precious. The staff of which there are many were only too happy to help with my myriad of travel and sightseeing related requests.

Superb location: town centre attractions short walk, tram to the main out-of-town site stops yards away. Ridiculous choice of eateries etc right nearby. Clean, comfortable. Lovely lounge with free tea/coffee/water. Stowed our luggage and invited us to continue using facilities as long as we wanted after checkout.

Making it 50s themed to cover the inevitable wear and tear of a 50s hotel is clever. Very, very occasionally it shows through! But I’m not-picking.

Coffee and apples were free of charge. The beds were comfortable. Although the hotel is old, it is cosy and I liked its retro style. There is a corner for kids, with games, toys and books, that we liked a lot.

This is an old hotel, but this didn't bother us much. It is a bit noisy from the street.

While the decor was a little dated, the room was of excellent size and had All the requirements for a comfortable stay. In addition it was close to the central of the town but also to our friends. We wish the staff all the rest in their renovations. Their friendly welcome was appreciated.

Digital Checkin - even when it was very late was smooth!! Staff very humble and the breakfast is now much better than before! Best is that it is now extremely green, lot of plants and plans for Kassel.
