We were greeted on arrival by staff who spoke excellent English. They gave good information and explained how everything worked. We were offered coffee and water on arrival. The bar/restaurant had a great atmosphere. We had breakfast here one morning which was good and freshly prepared as well as a nightcap each evening of our stay.

We were aware that the property had neither a lift nor air conditioning although there was a portable a/c unit in our room which we were grateful for. This property is not suitable for families with young children. I recommend that you request a room on floor 2 or above.

This is a funky little city hotel with a really nice vibe. Nice decor, very comfortable and functional. The bar on the first floor is popular and lively. We just had coffee there in the morning, but the staff were all kind and wonderful. Fantastic location just a block from Marienplatz, where you can catch the subway trains and see the town hall clock tower.

One downside for us is that we were on the fourth floor and there is no elevator. There was a fan in the room, but no A/C. Opening the windows helped, but the bar on the first floor is quite popular so it is a bit noisy with the windows open, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

This hotel is superbly located for the Munich old town, being only a few minutes walk from Marienplatz. It is also very close to the HofBräuhaus, and lots of other bars and restaurants. We had a lovely short break stating here. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were very good. The hotel is welcoming and quirky, and excellent value for money. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Munich.

This hotel would not be suitable for people who cannot manage steps. We stayed on the 4th floor which is accessed via an amazing, central spiral staircase, which we loved. But, for others, this may be a problem as there is no lift.

The staff were amazing! After issues with my flight I arrived after well after midnight. Check-in was swift and friendly as the bar was open till 1am. My room was great and the bed was one of the most comfortable ever. I have eaten at the restaurant on various occasions (always so wonderful and a true vibe), but I wasn't aware until recently that they had a hotel upstairs. Well designed retro-inspired rooms.

I was on the 4th floor (no elevator), however it was a great opportunity for some exercise, and the gentleman who checked me in had offered to help me with my case, which I declined but I thought that was a nice service touch.

Hotel Lux in Munich is an absolute gem! From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful (especially Yassin), offering great recommendations for places to visit around the city. The breakfast was a real highlight — the granola was delicious, and the fresh fruits were simply amazing. It was the perfect way to start the day! I also have to mention the cocktails, which were top-notch. Each one was crafted with care and tasted fantastic. I could have easily spent all evening enjoying them in the cozy atmosphere. Overall, Hotel Lux exceeded my expectations. I was genuinely sad to leave and can't wait to return!

The hotel was unique and inviting. It has a beautiful spiral staircase that leads to the rooms. No elevator but staff is very helpful getting your luggage up.I loved the bar and restaurant on the ground level. We had dinner ( food was really good) and drinks from the bar and they were good as well. I can.t complement the staff enough they were always friendly and so helpful with all our question. The location is wonderful walkable to a lot of Munich’s must sees. Highly recommend

Weekends can be a little noisy if your room is facing the street

I really enjoyed this place. It was extremely well-located, hip, well-appointed, and clean. It was central to the old town—so very convenient—and had friendly, accommodating staff. I was only one travel, and the room was efficient, quiet, and everything I needed for a comfortable stay. It was so nice to be able to swing back into my room to drop something off or change quickly while visiting the old town.

Not so much what I didn't like but observations for others. The bed, for me, was not as comfortable, but OK. Check-in is through the staff at the bar. There isn't an elevator, which was not a problem for me. I didn't take advantage of the wi-fi - I didn't ask for it. Last bit, my room door card reader was different for me, so it took me a couple of attempts to figure it out - once you do, it's very easy.

Staff were very nice and helpful and much appreciated. It’s a wonderful location very close by to major attractions, restaurants and shopping.

Overall our room was very clean the bathroom was clean, problem was a lot of mold in the shower grout. Another issue was noise at night. Our room faced the street and people usually partied at least until 1am. It didn’t bother either of us because we walked so much and were very tired so fell asleep easily. This is a warning for others!

Room and location

we were on the third floor and there isn't a lift - my wife has a problem with her knee so we had to take things slowly. A beautiful round set of stairs. For us, the location made up for this inconvenience. Given the central position it was quieter than we expected. And only 5 mins from the train station - with direct trains from the airport

Comfortable room in a great neighborhood. Tasteful furnishings. Not cramped. Beds was good, bedding clean, not worn. Quiet. The downstairs bar is very active, yet the room was very quiet! Staff was so friendly and very, very helpful. Bonus, the bakery aroma raises to the rooms with freshly made pastries. Amazing!

The bath is a bit small. Some damage to door was present on our check in. The toilet & shower drain very slowly. And the stairs were tough with heavy suitcases, but assistance was offered.
