We had a great stay at Hotel Alte Post. The room was modern, with a very comfortable bed and pillows. The hotel itself is charming and authentic, located in the heart of the beautiful town of Oberammergau. One of the best features is the free private parking right behind the hotel – incredibly convenient, especially considering how central the location is. Finding parking in town can be a challenge, so this was a big plus. The breakfast was also very good – fresh, varied, and satisfying. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. It’s also just about a 15-minute drive from Linderhof Palace, which makes it a great base for sightseeing.

Comfortable hotel in a nice central location with plenty of parking. rooms in very good condition. The breakfast selection was good. The staff were most friendly and very helpful. Our car developed a fault and they recommended a local garage - Auto Meyer, the standard of service was excellent. They fixed the problem by the next day and were very reasonable with their charges. A bonus was the fact that your room key gives you free transport on the local buses and trains.

The only shortfall was the fact that the Bar - Stube, was not open at all during our stay - even at the week-end. Having a drink in the restaurant does not have the same atmosphere as one in a bar.

We were very pleased with our stay at this wonderful hotel! It is located in a historic building that has preserved all its exquisite beauty and charm. What impressed us the most were the spacious rooms, which, despite the historical ambiance, are equipped with all modern amenities — everything you need for a comfortable stay. A special highlight was the breakfast — fresh and delicious dishes enjoyed with a stunning view of the mountains and the surrounding historic buildings. It created a unique atmosphere of comfort and inspiration in the morning. The availability of free parking was a pleasant bonus, especially in an urban setting.

As for minor downsides, the pillows were not very comfortable, but I think this can be easily resolved if you request replacements in advance. Additionally, the room felt a bit stuffy, and with the temperature outside at -10°C, sleeping with the window open was too chilly. However, these issues did not affect our overall impression. Overall, this hotel is a perfect blend of history, comfort, and modern convenience. Highly recommended for your stay!

Brilliant location, particularly when the fog lifted and the spectacular views were revealed just out the front door. Great breakfast. Staff were excellent. Ancient building with modern comfort and conveniences like a lift and parking right by the door. I've stayed elsewhere in Oberammergau over the years, at very nice places; this is my new favorite.

we loved everything, but perhaps would have liked a bit more control over the heat at night. Warm and cozy on cool November nights, but a bit warm under the lovely duvet.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were very obliging. We had a large duplex room with a balcony overlooking the yard which is used as a car park for guests. The balcony detail which was built around a tree trunk was very much appreciated, we love the fact that the tree was safeguarded during the construction works. The breakfast was delicious and abundant. We also had dinner in the hotel's restaurant on one of the nights, the food was very good. The restaurant is located in the main old and picturesque building.

The apartment we stayed in was very clean and modern. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Oberammergau. And Oberammergau was a great place to stay and be close to explore areas outside of the city.

The smaller bedroom had no windows to open so, closing the door would make it too stuffy to sleep. The door had to stay open.

Our family of five booked this property just to be close to both castles, Linderhof Palace and Neuschwanstein. Little did we know that the town of Oberammergau was the town where they perform the passion play every decade. Such interesting history. The town is so charming, quiet, peaceful and our hotel was centrally located in it. You can explore the shops, rent bikes, have a coffee, find live music, dine on a patio. And it’s all tucked away in the Bavarian Alps. Just Beautiful. Our rooms were very cozy, with a nice balcony overlooking the town.

I only have one recommendation. Please put kettles and mugs in the rooms. One evening it began to rain. We were sitting on the patio and wanted some hot tea. Thankfully, I had brought tea bags with us and we went to the front desk and asked for two cups of hot water. Front desk obliged our request and we had our hot tea on the balcony. One of my favorite memories!

hotel is in a great location, walk to everything (it is a small town) friendly staff, our room was in the main building which we would suggest.

we were there for a wedding end of August and the weather was hot! there is no A/C in the hotel, only a fan which we had to have on for the 5 days we were there whenever we were in the room. Beds could use some descent pillows, they were too flat!

The location in the center of Oberammergau was perfect. The breakfast was awesome and plentiful. The rooms were modern and very clean.

The light in the room entry was set via a motion detector. So, every time you got up, the light turned on, waking your partner. Also, the doors closed with a sharp bang. Our neighbors had kids and they took aft of that.

Bathrooms were not suitable for older people. To shower you had to step into a high bathtub, the bathtub itself was slippery. Very hard to shower and keep water of the floor in the bathroom. Then to get out of the bathtub was another problem, no bars to hold onto. Our son and his wife had a water stall, but also old , and very narrow.
