It was a comfortable hotel in a really nice location. Most of the staff was superb and they set us up with some nice lunch packages. The breakfast was nice with some good options on the healthy side and the sweet side. The location was good to do some hiking as well. The room was spacy and comfortable.

Being on the street side there was some traffic noise, but I could imagine this would be more of an issue in summer, as I don't think there is airco. The gym is very basic, so best to go outside for sports.

Everything about this hotel is excellent, really enjoyed our brief stay.

The one thing that annoys me in many hotels now throughout Europe is not to offer cold tap water for free at the table, and charge as much as 6 euros for bottled water. I will start taking my own water bottle I think. Also no coffee or tea making facilities in any hotels. Well, at least there’s tap water!

This hotel is excellent. The location in a very small village, next to kloster is perfect if you prefer tranquility and charm of a small Alps village over action. Perfect to just relax, take a swim in indoor pool and enjoy the comfort this hotel is offering. There's also a nice Italian restaurant just next door. Ettal Kloster Bier is excellent!

We liked everything this was hands down the best hotel we have stayed at on our month long trip around Europe, must have stayed at around 20 hotels and none of them at this price point comes anywhere near this place.The rooms are spacious very well equipped and bed was really comfortable these guys know how to run a hotel.

Hotel situated at small town Ettal, just besides Ettal Abbey. You may pay the visit to the Abbey as lot as your like. Design like a castle, but inside more like a family with many lovely furnishings. Swimming pool very good, garden lovely. Staffs very nice and easy to communicate, supportive to guest. Breakfast also very nice and rich.

No minibar in the room which is standard providing for 4 star hotel. Associated restaurant staffs (evening) not so friendly to us with cold face, perhaps we are from Asia and cannot speak German language, although dinner quality is OK but whole feeling is not good.

Great location next to the monastery. Beautiful main building and nice green inner courtyard. We had a great view from a suite room in a separate smaller building. The breakfast was good.

Our room's mechanical lock, a.k.a. night latch, didn't work. However, the electric lock did work.

Very clean room. The breakfast was very delicious with a big selection. I had a single room, very cozy and comfortable bed. Free WiFi was good and free car parking included. The Spa was nice.

I was there during July period, and it was hot and my room should have either have an air conditioning system or at least a ventilation system (fan). My room was on the very top floor. The TV was kind of small and sometimes had a bad reception for TV stations.

We very much enjoyed the room & the breakfast (a very hearty breakfast). The spa including the pool, the sauna, and the massage were appreciated after a long 2 weeks of travel, hiking, and playing tourist. The proximity to the Ettal monastery and basilica (both located across the street) were the primary reason for staying at the Hotel Klosterhotel Ludwig der Bayer, so an outstanding hotel made the visit much more enjoyable.

Everything I liked, the comfort rooms was perfect in every way, fully equipped, easy parking for your car as well. Lift access as well. I will definitely return to this hotel in future.

Lovely hotel great position, easy parking, we were sorry to leave.. we had a hire car but theres a bus stop right outside that goes to garmisch. If your wondering where to stay look no further.
