Hotel is located in Ettal. Just 700 m to the center with restaurants and the monastery. Close to the hiking trails and Linderhof castle. Very silent area with view to the mountains, forest and meadows. We appreciate that hotel accepted our cat :-) without any problems at all.

Poor service in the restaurant by the two waiters. They focus on one table at the time, don't look around and don't hear your voice calling them... We were waiting about 10 minutes just to get the menu (without success) so we gave up and went to the town. It's a pity because the hotel is really nice and we have to decrease our rating because of the poor service.

The communication was great, checking in was easy and pleasant. We were severely delayed, but the staff kept a key out for us as we discussed. It saved our night! The water pressure in the shower was incredible, and we always love when there is a water cooker available for a midnight cup of tea, or a quick cup of noodles.

We couldn't find out at what time the breakfast buffet was available, so we missed breakfast. It wasn't a big deal, since we were leaving anyway, but it would have been nice to have a quick bite.

Alphotel Ettal offers a charming and cozy retreat in a beautiful alpine setting, We stayed in a ground floor room, which was convenient as we were traveling with a dog. The view was still great, and we had direct access to the hotel's backyard. The food was good, with generous portions. Generally, there is enough parking, but during winter peak season, it might become an issue. Despite these minor inconveniences, our stay was enjoyable.

The exterior could benefit from some renovation. For some reason, we were asked to make a reservation for dinner even though it wasn't peak season. Despite this, they reluctantly provided us with a table.

The room was surprisingly large and comfortable. The view from the balcony was lovely, and despite the close proximity to a major roadway, very little was heard from the balcony of our room. The spa area was well stocked with fresh towels and the temperature of the pool was just right. 'Downtown' was just a short walk away.

The breakfast left a lot to be desired but this may simply be due to the small amount of guests at the time making it more challenging to provide fresh, hot food for the duration of the breakfast time.

I loved the herd of sheep right outside our balcony! We could see and hear them all day and night 😊 It was so relaxing- It was just like counting sheep! The temperature was very nice and the fresh clean air was so sweet we left our door and window open. The balcony said it was shared but there was a large panel of wood dividing it so it was great. The room was very large and comfortable. I could have stayed longer. The breakfast was good as well

I didn't like that there was no refrigerator in the room. I really look to always have one when we stay at a hotel for more than one night. We need cold water and drinks when we travel. We ate at the restaurant and it wasn't very good for German food. It might have just been the menu for the night. Also no other restaurants in easy walking distance.

If you want the Bavarian Alp countryside ambiance, this is the place to stay. We thought it was a little quaint type hotel up a small side street, when, in fact, it has numerous rooms and facilities and still quaint. We had a twin room with a balcony. It was mid October and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The balcony provided fresh air and views. We even had a flock of goats in the morning complete with bells on like in the movies. The views from our back room were fantastic. The breakfast was totally German: meats, cheeses, fruits, pastries, bread, hot foods, cereals, etc. We even had dinner one night and it was nicely priced and the food outstanding. There is free parking across the street but let the office staff help you determine which spaces are OK. We would stay here again!

The property was great. Incase you cannot carry your bag and climb up to your room, you should state that the the property in advance, so that they give you a room at the ground level. We struggled to take our bags up

Breakfast has very limited options. If you are a vegetarian/gluten free/vegan you will not get anything in the offering even after informing the property way in advance. Hence think twice before paying breakfast.

A nice hotel in a nice setting in an attractive area at a reasonable price. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is pet friendly. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. Well soundproofed. Ours with a balcony with a beautiful view was great. The only thing missing to perfection was the refrigerator in the room. The breakfast was perfectly fine. We found everything we expect from a hotel breakfast, and overall the breakfast in this hotel was one of the best we had the opportunity to experience in Germany. Unfortunately, there was a ruhetag in the restaurant on the day of our visit, so we cannot rate the food. But for dinner we walked to the center, where we satisfied our hunger. Parking can be tricky and problematic here. There are not enough parking spaces, they fill up quickly and so does the street on which the hotel is located. So you may end up parking pretty far from the hotel. We were lucky that at the time of our arrival, one place had just become available.

The hotel is located on a hill top and provides an amazing alpine views. Views from the room: Our room was located at the ground floor so it had shared garden area. The garden area opens up to the nearby hill and therefore provides a great view. The garden has a dining table and easy lawn chairs for relaxation which was great. Room facilities: The room was adequately spacious for 2 people, with two individual beds. The bathroom was very clean. The room also had a mini fridge and a smart TV. Therefore, the room was totally worth it. Food at the hotel: The food was quite good and had also many vegetarian options for lunch/dinner. Buffet breakfast was included in the room rent and was ok. Luggage storage: Before checkin/after checkout we could store our luggages in a common conference room, so that was great. Nearby things to do: To reach most of the attractions, you would need the bus connections. We also had been to Neuschwanstein castles with a direct bus from that location. However, you can reach the nearby beautiful cathedral by walk. Public transport: The hotel is located very near to the bus stop named "Ettal Am Berg". Therefore it can be easily reached from Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberammergau. However, the bus connections are at every 1 hour. Overall, it was a great stay for us! Highly recommended.

Irene at the front desk was wonderful! We booked late in the day so we didn't have much of a choice of rooms. She did the best she could for us. Very good facility.. Great breakfast. Tried to book a second night but they were booked

As I mentioned, we booked very late and found our room quite small and the twin beds tiny. Not a great view. Small TV. Had we booked earlier, I'm sure we would not have had this experience.
