The most beautiful hotel in the most beautiful setting overlooking Neuschwanstein Castle. All of the staff are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for any one of them, from the reception team to the ladies serving breakfast. What a credit the staff are to this wonderful hotel. Although our room was beautiful, it was at the front of the hotel, so no Castle view. I went to speak to the reception team acknowledging that it was totally my fault, I had booked without reading the room details, the staff were so wonderful and although they were fully booked that first night they would upgrade us the second night at no extra cost, to a room with spectacular views. I was so happy and so grateful. Both rooms we had, were just lovely, immaculate, spacious, so much storage space and large comfortable beds. There was a fridge with mini bar and coffee/tea making facilities. My dream came true when I woke up the 2nd morning with my bed facing the patio doors to the rooms private terrace with stunning views of the castle in the warm sunshine. A special memory to treasure. Breakfast was superb, freshly squeezed juices, hot drinks, pastries, an array of hot and cold breakfast items. The Omelettes cooked to order were gorgeous and there was fresh fruit. The best thing was enjoying it whilst sitting in the terrace with the stunning Castle views. This terrace was available to relax in all day and the evening. Perfect. We took advantage of the spa, this was an immaculate relaxing area with steam and sauna, we were given robes and slippers and towels were on hand at the Spa, this was a great way to unwind after a full day of exploring the Castles. The lovely reception staff arranged our tickets for our guided tour of the Castle for the time we requested. The first night we ate in the restaurant in the village that was recommended to us by the hotel , this was extremely good food and of course excellent local beer. The best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, always greeting you with a smile — something you truly appreciate after a five-hour journey. The rooms are stunning, with a magical atmosphere and a breathtaking view of the castle. Honestly, the price feels almost too low for what the hotel offers. You can also book tickets for both castles directly through them, and they’ll hand them to you the next morning — super convenient. They offer the possibility to dine at their restaurant as well. We arrived too late for dinner, but they still prepared a tasting platter for two with sausages, cured meats, cheese, cherry tomatoes, and plenty of their delicious homemade bread. We couldn’t even finish it! Breakfast was absolutely outstanding — calling it “complete” would be an understatement. All in all, highly recommended. If I had to point out a flaw, it would be the flies — they’re everywhere. But hey, we still haven’t figured out how to control insect minds, so…

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, very nice breakfast, comfortable bed and good bath and shower. A really peaceful location, even though it's so close to the village of Hohenschwangau and its car parks on which the hordes descend to set off to the two castles.

The breakfast is tasty and good quality, so it's a shame that the hotel doesn't have a lunch or dinner offering (only a snack board), but I guess there are just not enough guests to justify it and the town does have options (several for lunch, Hotel Muller and Alpenstuben for dinner - both perfectly acceptable, the latter our favourite)

I loved the serenity and peace-"far from the maddening crowd", yet, close enough to hike up to get to the castle.

The property is very stylish, comfortable, well maintained and includes very secure parking with easy access to an elevator. The receptionists were both very friendly and were also able to purchase tour tickets for the unforgettable Neuschwanstein Castle. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk around the local environment with views of both castles. The room itself was very clean, spacious and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet included a very impressive selection of savoury and sweet offerings. This is an exceptional property that is also very good value for money.

Nothing - a great stay.

The size of the room was great. The balcony was also quite lovely with a view of the castle. There was a full minibar and snack options available (all chargeable to room). The location was one block away from the trail up to the castle or from catching a horse-drawn buggy up the hill. The underground parking was also very convenient, but also for a price.

It may have been the time of year, but the hotel bar/restaurant was not open in the evening. I don't think there even is a bar. The only option was to travel 3-4 km out of town to find places that were open. They did tell us this upon check-in but it was still quite inconveninent, particularly because we did not feel like venturing out, so we had only the minibar items to choose from which are VERY pricy. We ate and drank nearly all that was there and I think the total came out to be almost as much as the price for the room. One of the mini bottles of champagne alone was €40. Kind of shocking.

The check-in and check-out processes were top-class, with the staff being incredibly attentive and accommodating. The hotel's location is superb, situated on the main street just five minutes from the public parking to the castle, yet it also offers its own convenient underground parking. The room was romantic and well-appointed, featuring excellent in-room amenities and a clean, well-maintained shower with great water pressure. What makes Hotel Villa Ludwig truly special is its unique style and warm hospitality. Despite its size, the hotel manages to provide a personalized and intimate experience. We took a short five-minute walk to nearby local restaurants for dinner, following a fantastic recommendation from the hotel staff. One of the highlights of our stay was the hotel's efficient service in booking our castle tour tickets. We received them during breakfast the next morning, saving us time and the hassle of standing in line. Our stay in mid-October left us with sweet memories and a fantastic experience. I highly recommend Hotel Villa Ludwig for anyone touring the area. It's a gem of a hotel, offering everything you need for a perfect romantic escape.

Nothing - all was perfect !

The views of the castle made this such a special experience! The breakfast patio was so dreamy watching the mist move in and out. Staying here felt like watching a fairy tale. Our room was so comfortable and quiet - best night of sleep I had all trip! The paid parking garage is part of the building and is very secure. They let you keep your car all day while you explore town and the castle. Highly recommend booking tickets for the castle well in advance because dates book up weeks to months ahead. The walk to the castle from the hotel is about 40-60 minutes depending on your fitness level and need to explore along the path. Avoid the short cut, it's very steep and muddy!

The hotel was ideally situated for visiting both castles in one day and a walk around the lake. All in easy reach on foot. The hotel was spotless. We had a spacious room with a balcony which gave us a spectacular view of the mountain and the castle. Good choice of breakfast and we were greeted with a complimentary drink and cake on arrival at the hotel. Brilliant secure underground parking was available on site.

Can't think of anything. Be aware that no evening meals are available but we were given recommendations for restaurants in town and they pre-booked for us.

I liked the view from my suite of schloss neuschwanstein which was seen from our balcony. The owner Annette was very welcoming ,provided a lot of local information and especially Sabine who made our stay very comfortable,and offered take away coffee for our road trip. The parking was very easily accessible and spacious and even after checkout they allowed us to keep our car in the parking
