Beautiful Gasthof in a quiet location within walking distance to Forggensee. We arrived on a Ruhrtag (day off) but they were prepared and our key and instructions were waiting for us (lovely places to eat within walking distance on Tues & Wed). The room was clean, comfortable and a great size with a sofa area and a small outside terrace. The owners and team were really welcoming and very helpful. Yummy breakfast - you order what you want so no wastage with a buffet - and supper was delicious too. Really good location to visit Neuschwanstein Castle, Hohenschwanngau Castle, Fuessen etc. Great place to stay!

I found it inaprropriate the way breakfast was served: you need to check on a list what you would like to order without knowing the size of the portions you will being served. Hence, it made very difficult to make sure one is ordering far too much, or you need to ask for more. I would have expected to have an usual swedish buffet, where you can choose what you would like to have and how much. All in one, breakfast was qualitatively good, but not I've expected, especially by price/portion size ratio. The rooms are quiet (unless a neighbouring room occupant turn the TV set too loud) since the hotel is in a village-like location.

Definitely, the way of serving breakfast. It was also the perception of other tourists, since this way was unexpected and (to my opinion) inaproppriate. It may have some advantages for the hotel owner, but on the long run I doubt this may be a good practice to establish.

The hotel is in a historical building older than Neuschwanstein castle but it’s so lovely And clean. The staff is really nice and the whole town has a very friendly summer camp vibe. Schwangau is so much less touristy than Hohenschwangau but you can still see the castle from most points in the town. You can walk around the lake, have a campfire at night, sit out on your balcony and watch the horses run around in the mornings. It was great!!

I loved the property

Great view of neuschwanstein from the garden. We had a great dinner with good beer. Staff was nice. Lots of great views and things to do nearby. Cozy. Classic German vibes in the hotel.

Expected the room would be cleaned while we were gone, but that didn't happen. Could be a little cleaner upon arrivel.

We really appreciated the ease of check in. The room was super roomy for my family (2 adults and a 4yr). It snowed during our visit and it was nice to look out the windows and see the mountains and snow falling. The stay was Magical.

The room has a lot of space and it is very cozy.

We could not make the room very dark and the lights from the cars passing in the street made our sleep not so good. Although some other rooms had a window to make the room dark.

The hotel is extremely well located close by the lake and at a cycling distance from Neuschwanstein castle. The personnel is very nice, we almost felt like home. Breakfast was delicious. The place is very calm and and absolutely beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and we plan to come back.

Breakfasts were nutritious and food well prepared and cheerfully served. The hotel is authentically old-world Bavarian but interiors have been updated and are clean and comfortable. Bike paths circumvent the property and excellent restaurants are within walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The room was clean and well-maintained, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. While not luxurious, it was definitely cozy and suited the price range.

Pillows were uncomfortable.

Location is great. By the lake and a short drive from town. Plenty of parking there. Nice restaurants. Hotel was mostly quiet and the staff were friendly and helpful. Very convenient for the two famous castles in the area. You can see them once you go outside. Overall a very positive experience.

Rooms were a little basic and the rates a little high. But wouldn't put me off going back.
