We loved our stay at Porto Platanias. The staff were wonderful especially George the evening barman. The location was perfect for us - close to the beach and a couple of beachside restaurants where we enjoyed some lovely lunches.

Nothing - we had a perfect holiday.

Location.

Quality of vegetables at breakfast was VERY poor. Cucumbers seemed either old or frozen and unfrozen... Even after we complained to the staff, the quality of the vegetables was very bad. It's strange why they can't get the decent quality vegetables, if other small restaurants just next to the hotel can do that?... I don't understand why the sunbeds are priced at EUR 17.5?... Everywhere, where we paid for sunbeds, the amount was a deposit which you could spend. Considering the fact that sunbeds were VERY basic, I think they should be either free or the amount should be a deposit for spent.

The room was huge (two connected rooms) with two bathrooms - with a large double bed (rather soft) and two sofa beds. The hotel seems to be well maintained. The location is very good - right next to the port and the beach, with many nice restaurants near by (The Wave, Mitsos, Blue & White, Valentino). The Reception staff was very helpful booking for us a rent-a-car, taxi and a trip to Samaria Gorge (well worth the effort). We also enjoyed the boat trip to Thodoroy island, booked directly at the port.

Sun loungers at the pools were all occupied by 9.30am on most days. The sun loungers at the beach (part of the hotel) cost EUR15 per day a pair, while a few meters down the beach the cost is EUR8 a pair (in front of The Wave). The beach is not entirely sandy - there are large blocks of uneven rock, especially when entering the sea, but sandy after. The food and service at the restaurant could have been better. There was an issue with our meal plan, but this was resolved very quickly by the Hotel with the prompt assistance of Booking.com - many thanks.

Great breakfast buffet in a big bright room with beautiful views. Mini Market shop onsite was great and reasonably priced. Resort is in a fantastic location, right on the beach and close to lots of restaurants and bars. The apartments were great, having 2 balconies and 2 bathrooms was a big plus. Was a lovely touch getting a voucher for 1 hour in the spa and for 4 free drinks.

The sunbed situation. Sunbeds were 'reserved' from 6am onwards even though there are plenty of signs around the pool asking guests not to do so. Some would reserve very early and not appear until 11am. The sunbeds are very dirty. Lots of stains on them and some are a bit smelly. The material on the beds gets very hot in the sun and that means it's sore to sit on. Only 1 plug socket in the upstairs bedroom in the apartments. Wasn't ideal. Also no full length mirror.

We did not like the fact that the bathroom is on the lower level of the room. No iron in the room

Amazing location, you step outside and you've got a lovely atmosphere with so many unique bars, shops and restaurants. The hotel puts on lots of extra activities including a disco, water aerobics and tennis. Multiple pools all beautiful, Including a adults only pool and free towels with access to the beach right outside. Won't go wrong staying here, especially if you hire a car as they have free parking.

There was nothing bad to say other than the flooring was hard type so it was difficult to get rid of the sand you inevitably bring back.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming, professional, and attentive to every detail. The room was spotless, modern and comfortable. The food was delicious. I especially appreciated the fresh ingredients and the thoughtful options for every palate. The hotel grounds were immaculate and the multiple pools provided a peaceful and refreshing escape. The atmosphere was calm and serene, making it the perfect place to unwind. I would not hesitate to return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for top service, comfort, and relaxation. Truly a 5-star experience in every way!

The hotel is very well placed - very close to Chania city, within reasonable distance to beaches like Elafonissi and Gramvousa. The hotel has a nice quasi-private sandy beach,. The hotel itself is very nice, large, but well-designed: there are five pools, so guests are not concentrated in any one place, but are slowly cooking in the sun all around the various pools. We got an upgrade to sea-view studio, which has a small, but useful kitchen and a decent-sized fridge (pool-view rooms are smaller and likely a bit noisy). The breakfast was mostly excellent and the view from the breakfast area is nothing short of stunning. The hotel has a large free parking area across the street and the affiliated Village resort is on the other end of the parking lot with a small water park. Staff is very kind an attentive; attended to every single request immediately.

Platanias itself is nothing special, very touristy; the really narrow sidewalk is the only option to take an evening stroll (not recommended). The mattress in the bed is super-soft; some like it, other people may need a regular back massage in the spa. Beware of the hot brown liquid served at breakfast as coffee, which is absolutely horrid (you can buy actual coffee). The mostly Scandinavian and to a lesser degree German guest follow the age-old despicable habit of reserving sunbeds with towels; there are signs against this, but are not enforced any more than any other rule in Greece. As a result, if the hotel is full, it may become difficult to find an empty sunbed after breakfast. The famous beaches in the area - Elafonissi and Gramvousa - have been largely ruined by environmentalists.

We were upgraded to the adult only luxury suites upon check in. Superb breakfast! So many choices and all the foods were fresh and delicious. The views from the room and the restaurant were gorgeous. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to help us find a snorkel place when the one we attempted to book with was full the day we wanted to go. We were pleasantly surprised by the complementary beach bag, sun creams and drinks in the refrigerator. We enjoyed the serene, peaceful environment of the adult only part of the hotel.

The beach area on the adults only side of the hotel was rocky and difficult to walk out in the water. We were able to walk down the beach a little ways to enter the water though.

One of the few underrated hotels I've been to. Our apartment was spacious, clean and had a great view to the beach and marina. Housekeeping: Ladies were very kind and efficient. The room was like new every time we came back from the beach. Food at the main restaurant: Not a huge choice, but everything tasted great. Especially deserts, some of which were out of this world. Location: Ideal - whether you want to go out for a walk on the busy street or relax inside the complex, or at the beach. It's also very close to Chania airport. Beach: Clean and fine sand. Not steep so quite suitable for children. Water was crystal-clear and warm. Personnel: Very friendly overall, especially housekeeping and restaurant staff. Bar: Unlike most All-Inclusive hotels we've been to, cocktails were really nice and professionally delivered. We would love to stay at Porto Platanias Beach Resort & Spa again.

Nothing serious, but just a few things: - You have to pay additionally for proper coffee at breakfast (e.g., Espresso). - The beach bar is actually not included in the All-Inclusive, which was a surprise. They still bring almost everything from the main bar (which is included) anyway. - The Exclusivi app that is supposed to give you easy access to support, reservations, and hotel information, is very basic. Most functionalities are missing (e.g., Live Chat) or not working properly (e.g., pages with no content).
