The pools were wonderful and the peace of having a garden view room. This have the impression of a much smaller hotel which I prefer. I liked that it was close to the centre of Antigua. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were very high quality.

High cost of drinks. I paid for a garden view and was given a street view. I had to ask to change rooms and it seemed a bit of a chore. It did happen but why did I have to ask? If I paid for it why didn't it happen automatically? Also, communication before I booked was terrible. I waited days for a reply and then it wasn't clear. That's just stressful and unnecessary.

Clean, comfortable rooms, location, friendly staff

Constantly being asked whether I had a credit card deposit when I signed for things (never happened before in any hotel for over 40 years) and the rather extraordinary list of do’s and don’ts handed to you on arrival. If I were that insensitive or mendacious a leaflet would make no difference and if I am not it rather strikes an off note about your fellow guests!!!

I really loved this hotel. We stayed in two different rooms and without a doubt the hotel is fantastic. Both rooms were nicely sized, clean and comfortable. The Annex's pool is private and lovely. The main building is much more vibrant and the pool, restaurant, bar and gym were all great.

Not much of a view from any of the windows and the hotel is split into an annex and main building which can be disappointing if you aren't expecting it. I preferred the main property.

Beautiful property, spacious and clean and quiet even though it’s in the city. Provide purified water and coffee in room. Dining is delicious, although tourist prices expensive. The pool is beautiful. Large kids playground. Two macaw parrots. Just lovely in every way. The staff was so kind and friendly.

Only complaint is the road behind our room caused gentle vibrations every 30 seconds. Wasn’t a big deal, but at first I thought it was an earthquake. Once I decided to think of it as a low rumble of thunder, it actually helped me sleep.

The staff - particularly Jhoni with guest services - went above and beyond to help me get medicine when I was sick. Property itself is very pretty and perfectly situated. Lots of great spots to work from, including a roof terrace overlooking the pool.

Had not realized how big this property is - there’s a lot of big groups and it gets very busy and loud with crowds. If you want a small/boutique type experience this probably isn’t for you.

This is a very lovely hotel. Our rooms (we had 2 as a family of 4) were so comfortable, very clean and nicely decorated. There is filtered water in the rooms so great not to be buying plastic bottles of water and saving on all the plastic waste. The rooms were off a pretty courtyard with a seating area which was a lovely place to sit. The pool area is really nice, though we were so busy exploring Antigua we didn’t spend very much time there. The dining/reception/bar area is lovely - lots of fantastic artworks and decorative items. We enjoyed the New Year’s Eve dinner and festivities at the hotel. There was a huge variety of food and the whole event was well planned and decorated. Also there was a very thoughtful little bag of treats on our beds that night. The service of all the staff was very professional and friendly. We had a bit of communication with the hotel staff prior to our visit and we were very impressed by the friendly interactions we had. The hotel arranged a transfer for us back to Guatemala City and the driver was excellent and the van very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Porta Hotel Antigua and highly recommend it.

The hotel is super beautiful and the service is really really good. They even warmed up some food we bought outside and took it to our room. Food was super delicious, everything was super fresh and diverse

The schedule to use the pool is too short. They close at 7:30 pm which is too early. There were no towels for the pool in the room so you needed to take the ones from your bedroom

Location of the hotel was pretty central. The hotel concierge was great at setting up tours and transportion to our next destination and also from there to the airport when we had to leave. The hotel grounds are beautiful

Had requested a single queen or king bed at the time of booking (2 months prior), but when we checked in they said that none were avaible

Some of the staff does not speak English, which was a bit problematic, as they keep speak Spanish even when we told that we unfortunately don’t speak this language. We were celebrating New Year‘s night in the hotel and the variety of dishes was not the best for the price suggested. All drinks should be additionally paid and were not included in the price.

Great hotel, with amazing costumer service, everything about my stay in Antigua Guatemala was perfect thanks to people like Juan Carlos and Don Sergio. Gabriel, Daniel and Evelyn at the check in and Diego, Mariana and Genaro at the restaurant, Congratulations guys, I’m looking forward to come back to the beautiful Antigua!

The attitude of a guy at the front desk, but focusing on that would be unfair to the rest of the guys and girls at the front desk who did and amazing job.
