We stayed for two nights at Uday Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel and overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable experience. The hotel is spacious, welcoming, and offers a lovely ambiance—especially in the evenings with live piano music in the lobby. --- Check-in and Staff: The check-in process was smooth and efficient. A special mention to Surya Santhosh at the reception who greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel welcome. The gentleman who assisted with our luggage and guided us to the room (apologies, we missed his name) was extremely courteous and helpful. --- Rooms and Facilities: Our room was clean, cozy, and featured a well-stocked mini-bar with snacks and drinks. The bed was comfortable, and we had a lovely view of the courtyard. There’s a dual-door setup—one for the hallway and another providing direct access to the pool and courtyard restaurant, which we found very convenient. We did notice a small leak from the toilet flush switch, but it was minor. The hotel provides mosquito repellent in the room, which helped, though a few still managed to sneak in. Despite this, the bed and linens were very comfortable and kept us well rested. --- Dining: The dining experience, especially breakfast in the courtyard, was delightful. There was a live kitchen serving fresh dosa and appam, and a good mix of South Indian and Western options like muesli and pasta. The staff during breakfast were friendly and attentive, even though we couldn’t catch their names. Dinner was okay but didn’t quite carry the authentic Kerala flavor we had hoped for. --- Pools and Recreation: We enjoyed the pools—there are separate ones for kids and adults, and the water was comfortably warm. However, some maintenance is needed, especially in the kids’ area where there were broken tiles and exposed electrical cables that should be sealed. The men’s changing room also needs attention, particularly the locker area where some keys were missing.

I liked the caring attitude of UDS staff. The ambience of UDS as a whole, decor, vibrant environment has touched our heart.

The towels were not clean enough, needs improvement.

Great location. Enjoyed the beach and the waves from the Arabian Sea although if you are a light sleeper don’t get your room close to the sea as the waves were pretty loud all night. Breakfast buffet was very good.

Generally poor management but the staff was kind and courteous. Management did not delegate work and had to ask permission for anything. This resulted in poor customer service as we were kept waiting before the staff got answers from management. Seemed like the accounting department is running the hotel and not sales and customer service people. All in all it is a 4 star property at best and not 5 star.

Had a fridge problem and it was sorted in 15 minutes. The menus are hard to read online so bought 2 eggs and coffee for the cost of a complete buffet breakfast. Nice pools. The filtered water bottles do not work as the bottles are not properly cleaned ( hotel informed) Nice rooms and if you ask for something it will be acted upon. Walk out to the seawall and to your left is a nice restaurant called the 3rd Rock. Room service food good and quick.

Spacious hotel lobby, huge and beautiful room. Fantastic breakfast. Vast evening dinner buffet. Exit to the beach at the back of the hotel - with some nice local restaurant/bar there and local ayurvedic center, we got there very nice massages for 2000 rupees. Don't use the beach straight there - instead walk 10 minutes left to reach Grove beach, it is much nicer. The hotel is also used for conferences and weddings - most of the hotel guests were there for these reasons, not much foreigners. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but I wouldn't say that something was extremely special here, so next time we would probably choose another resort.

A bit older property, we expected it to be a little but more luxurious for the same price, but probably Kovalam is more expensive location that we thought. Hotel spa center is very expensive and offers only exotic massages (like swedish or hawaian).

Didn't really like my room, it wasn't what I asked for. If the room I wanted was more expensive, then they should have just said, and I would of paid for it. But I really enjoyed my time there and am going back in 8 days' time. I have found out he class of room I wanted and have booked it.

The only thing I hated about the hotel was the restaurant staff lack of ability to speak English. They say they cater to international clients. I know it is classed as not the peak season, so 99% of clients were Indian. But they should arrange some kind of English lessons, as Hotels in Egypt, UAE and lots of other countries do.

Loved the room and breakfast was brilliant. Swimming pool was good.

There were no inflatable rings available for the kids. Also some play items like inflatable balls for the pools could have been nice. Also couldnt find pool towels and there were no one around to ask also. Room service was a bit slow. Luggage was brought in after 3 calls and almost after 1 and half hours of check in and i still had to go half way through to the front office when they brought in the luggage.

We have been a regular visitor at UDS every year on our vacation and the excellent ambience, cleanliness, facilities and staff have all been a major criteria that keeps us wanting to come more to this facility.

There is nothing much to comment on this.. everything is perfect.. but would love if the prices would be less.. :)

The room was good. Breakfast was well spread. The lunch buffet was good. The service of the team was excellent. They accommodated all our requests

There was too much noise due to some work happening. I have also seen many crows in the property. They charged us 3500 just because we brought an outside photographer. If it is a big event, it is justifiable. We were just a group of 10 celebrating a wedding anniversary. This is one thing that pained me.

There was a number of wedding events, exhibition festivals etc which all contributed to there being quite a noisy environment. Also being near the beach constant barking from a number of dogs throughout the night.
