The location is ideal if you need to take the train. The rooms are quite spacious, though some are newer than others. The gym is small but rarely used, making it easy to access. The staff is very friendly and helpfully ! You can get food from the restaurant across the street—not the best, but decent. I had a delicious Dosa for breakfast.

To stay there, you must be a married couple and provide proof of it. We found a cockroach in our first room, so we requested a change. It took two hours to get a new room, but at least it was spotless. The breakfast might feel unusual for Europeans—only instant coffee instead of filtered and toasts available but no toaster. A security officer is present outside the hotel during the day, but there’s no one at night. There is constant music playing in the hallway.

As I expected from other reviewers, the breakfast was very good indeed. You always want to start your day with a good breakfast and if that is provided half the hotel's work is done.😊 The room service was also very good. Exceptional in fact.👌 The location was at a very central place. Upon stepping off the hotel you could flag any passing auto and as they all went by meter there was no trouble. Cab drivers on the other hand were very crooked and were asking 3 times the ola /uber rate after booking was made. Luckily on day 3 we found a decent cab company to take us to Udupi and other places.

All the hotels nowadays force you to use a comforter with the AC at low than a sheet with the AC at a higher temperature of 23 /24 or so. This was true of Royal Plaza too as we were provided with only a comforter and so had to keep the temperature of the AC lower than we liked when we went to sleep.

We (family of 3 adults) stayed in a "junior suite" for 3Nights. The junior suite is a little compact for 3 adults, but functionally well equipped with all one needs, including air conditioning, extra bed, king sized double bed, two TVs (with all channels functional). The hotel is well located near a prominent city landmark(Mangalore central railway station). Hence, easy to locate. Hop in and hop off metered autos available in "hail an auto mode" make local travel in Mangalore very easy for tourists. The hotel provided us a handly list of recommended places to travel to. The hotel staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Breakfast buffet from 8am to 10am was good, with minor menu changes daily and with a live counter for preparation of eggs, omlette, utthapam, dosa etc apart from cereals, idli, wada, halwa, mangalore bun, pasta, bread butter, juices, shakes, tea and coffee. Guests who stay longer than 3 nights at a stretch may however start to find the breakfast menu getting a little monotonous. The housekeeping sevices were prompt with the room, bedding etc always maintained immaculately clean. Bathroom and shower area was clean, but could do with more clothes hanging hooks. The in house restaurant called Coconut Groove now only serves breakfast. However, the hotel provides in-room dining through sourcing food from other restaurants. The street where the hotel is located has plenty of eateries, so access to food is not a problem at all. All in all, the royal plaza suites lived up to the 4 star hotel experience we expected and we would certainly visit them again.

Rooms a little compact.

Good and clean rooms with nice breakfast to start the day. 😊 Vegetarian breakfast is available makes it convenient!

We arrived late night, the reception was open. The staff mentioned we could have a late checkout but we were charged. We didn't even stay 20 hours there but paid a full day with extra. Other than that facilities & breakfast were good. There is no restaurant as well to host our family members there, so we had to go out again. Room have been better with nice paintings than a leopard one!

Highlight of this hotel is it's rooms, which are very big/spacious and sparkly clean. We liked the furniture as well, and it looks like someone paid attention to details in the room. TV provided was a large screen Samsung LED type - I've seen such a good TV in 5-star hotels only. Breakfast buffet was tasteful, having options for both north and south Indian food. The hotel is located very close to train station and you get plenty of options (taxis/autos) for getting around.

Nothing in particular

The breakfast is outsourced, but the variety, quality and prompt service was the hall mark of the arrangemenr.

The only negative point in this superbly ultra modern hotel is that they don't have a single onsite eating place in the hotel. No 24/7 coffee shop, no restaurant, nothing. They have made arrangement with outside agencies to provide food on order through the reception, and get the food in your room. They call it Cloud Kitchen. This is not standard for a hotel of such fine construction. Customer has no clue as to the source of the cloud kitchen, hygiene of the preparation etc, and eating a major meal in room and removing the used plates etc are bothersome.

Rooms service could be a bit better with details like complete cutlery sets, bottles of water, cleaning the set table without a prompt. Breakfast buffet could have a bit more variety and the live kitchen counter is great for eggs but the dosas can be a bit better.

Very nice rooms, with all amenities

Location is a little bit difficult to find. No restaurant in the property- have to order room service or go out- not too many nice places around the hotel to have dinner. However, can take auto and within ten minutes one can go to the city center and other areas.

The rooms, it's location and the staff at front desk and attendants - all very nice and satisfying.

Everything was very good, comfortable and conveniently located, except it missed an in-house restaurant of it's own for proper dinning facilities specially for Lunch and Dinner. Room service from outside restaurant is available but looks not healthy and not properly served.

- The location couldn't be better - it was right next to the central railway station in Mangalore. - The staff were very courteous. - The checkin and checkout processes were very quick. - I could easily book a cab to the airport through the reception despite heavy, incessant rains. - The breakfast was really good - many options, good spread between veg and nonveg, tasty and healthy. - The wifi was superb - very high speed, and ideal to get work done or to watch netflix.

Just a minor issue - one has to go into the basement in order to get to the reception. But this doesn't take away from the stay at all. So, all good.
