Exceptionally comfortable bed, clean and sophisticated room and facilities. Although close to the main road, you don't hear the outside noise. Staff are friendly and helpful, especially the front desk staff. Location was pretty central and close to city centre.

The grand kitchen restaurant was a disappointment. Food and service quality was sub optimal. Mutton curry means no meat, but only bones and fat. Fish delicacies were authentic and tasty. Service was overall a let down. On the other hand the madhuvan veg restaurant was good. Nice tasty local recipes. Staff were professional and helpful. I forgot my bag, in the restaurant which contained a mobile phone, but when I got back to my room, it was promptly returned to my room. They really deserve recognition for their service. Roads near to the hotel were dangerous as there were no pavements (foot path) for ordinary people to walk by, which is sadly an overlooked fact of life in mangalore city.

New well run property

The check in staff refused to change my tariff from double occupancy to single occupancy as my wife could not travel at the last moment. They blamed it on Booking.com and stated that if I had booked directly with them, they would have changed. The room telephone could be used only to connect to front desk and they did not pass on my request to housekeeping.

The shower pressure was excellent, and everything else was decent too. Room sizes are bigger than average rooms in the city.Staff is very helpful, even the guard outside. He helped us with an umbrella and also arranged for our transport in the rains

The breakfast could’ve been better. It’s very basic and average. The Dosa counter was somwhere far inside the hotel, took long and was cold by the time it got to our table.

AJ Grand Hotel is located on a busy dusty street in central Mangalore. I didn't see a lot of the city, so I can't really say whether this is a good area or not. The hotel is better than most in this price range and the rooms are relatively well-maintained. There is a swimming pool and a small gym. My real rating for this hotel is 7.8/10.

Every member of staff has excellent customer service, extremely polite and helpful and will go above and beyond to ensure we have the best stay at AJ Grand Hotel. Jayson who works out the bell desk of the hotel is brilliant. He always went the extra mile with his gesture and was very kind opening and holding car doors open for us and making me feel so valued as guest at the hotel. All members at front desk, concierge were extremely friendly and welcoming and super helpful. The restaurants are excellent and Breakfast was delightful with lot of options.

Nothing negative about the property. Just constructive feedback it would have been better if all the associates had the name tags.

The hotel was very modern and had all the facilities you'd expect from the industry today. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. The rooms very very spacious and clean and we're a really good place to come back to after a full on day in the Mangalore heat. The restaurants on site had delicious food catering to vegetarians as well.

Front desk staff were not very nice. The property provides only one key card even for a family. Not very convenient. Even after requesting the answer was no.
