I spent a full week at Villa des Gouverneurs with my elderly parents, sister and small son. I chose the place particularly for the proximity to the Ashram. Upon arrival we realized that my family booked room had a high staircase to access it which was difficult for my parents. The second day morning, Vasanth, in-charge of the hotel, swiftly organized two separate rooms for us instead on the ground floor at no extra fee. We were grateful for this kind act considering my parents' well being. Throughout the week, we were greeted and treated by the kind and helpful staff. The courtyard is a great place to sit-out with visitors and we enjoyed all the spaces in plenty. The building has a compelling history and we found interesting books in different languages (german, spanish, french included) in the lobbby for free reading by guests. Special thanks to the guard, library staff, and receptionists on duty who lovingly took care of my hyperactive 6 year old son! We felt at home, safe, and taken care of. I highly recommend the hotel for families, couples (with pets, yes), children or just singles.

The bathrooms need renovations and do not match the comfort of the rooms and the price tag.

Wasan and the staff are absolutely amazing. We were there during a tropical cyclone so the power went out and there wasn’t much for us to do. They looked after us really well, providing everything we needed including candles to get us through the dark night.

The property does need some maintenance. The outside area was in a pretty bad state even before the cyclone. There was also no backup generator when the power went off. Many other businesses in the area did have power.

It's a funky 9 room hotel, not suitable for people looking for 5* luxury. All the rooms are different..On two floors, no elevator. It is in a great location, with easy walking to all the sights. The staff, especially Vasantha Kumar and Monica,, were aiming to please and very friendly. Breakfast is really the only meal served but they were happy to organize someone to go out and find me some cold beers after a hot day. The beach is nearby but swimming is NOT allowed.

Need variety at breakfast.

Location was perfect - just a short walk to most areas in White Town. Breakfast didn't have the vast array of some bigger hotels but perfectly adequate and we were happy with it.

Room not serviced during our stay, despite being asked if we wanted it to be; this didn't inconvenience us. Sheets and towels could do with being replaced and certain "suspect" stains in room and around the place could do with being cleaned up. Felt a tad "tired" but didn't detract from our enjoyment of staying in the town.

Friendly staff and a perfect location close to churches, temples shops, restaurants and the sea. Very peaceful and relaxing after a busy Indian day . Rooms were large and showers hot. House care and reception super helpful too

The staff is excellent. Everybody is extremely friendly. Vasanth, the manager, was very helpful. The staff is also very honest: I gave my clothes for laundry and accidently left money in the pockets. They did not take the money but returned it to me. Thank you very much!

The room was with very good infrastructure but overall service is poor Specifically breakfast not good The money they charged is on higher side than overall facilities and experience Won't prefer for future staying

Room & location It was overall a good experience

The location was brilliant. Central and super close to the promenade and the various cute cafes of pondicherry. The manager Monica was lovely. Very helpful and very personal. A true asset to the villa. Jai too was very good and helpful.

Really nothing. Though there were no meals other than breakfast, it wasn't missed. The dosas offered for breakfast were yum!

The breakfast that was served was simple and to order.No menu, just what you would like to have. We are veg so needed to be specific. Good to explain all the at onset. The location was fantastic. In heart of city, walking distance to most sights and more amazing foods.

For the cost of the place the food could have been a bit better and thought out. Fortunately there were many places close by that were really good.

The location of the property was superb. In the middle of White Town with all the many local attractions in walking distance. There was a Ganapati Temple just opposite the property which in the time of Ganesh Chaturthi made the place all more special. Overall a great stay with great and helpful staffs.

There was no option for dinner or lunch which may be given in the future.
