It is possibly one of the best in terms of location. Situated on the promenade, which is closed to traffic, with clear views of the ocean from the rooms, or most of them. Being there on January 26, gave us a ring side view of Republic Day celebrations. A lot of great places to visit, including many must-visit restaurants are within walking distance, Was a little concerned after reading some of the negative reviews, but realised that those probably arose from an expectation mismatch. Yes, it is over-priced and since the hotel claims to be a five star, the expectations of service are thus set. It isn't a five star, barely a four. Once that is accepted, expectations are reset. The members of the staff at the restaurant(s) are friendly and helpful, or at least most of them. A shout out to the housekeeping team as well. Breakfast was a fairly grand affair, one area where they can rival a five star hotel. Has an excellent rooftop bar, with great views, if you have the right table. Great cocktails.

As it's not a real five-star, not all are properly trained. The chef, who used to hang around outside the kitchen during breakfast, was just rude and abrasive. I understand it's not his job to deal with breakfast orders, but then what was he doing standing around outside? The person at the reception who checked us in, could do with a crash course in non-aggressive communication. I understand that a late checkout may not be possible over a weekend, but a "no" need not be accompanied by a lecture.

Location was excellent, just beside the rock beach. Room was a bit small than expected, but it had all the facilities for a comfortable stay. Complimentary breakfast was excellent and was wide spread. There were more dishes for one person to even taste all, it was a mix of south Indian, French and continental dishes. There was a spa which offered the guests some discounts or free services in the list.

There could have been a bath tub for the price that I paid for the room. The prices of the food was too costly then the MRP on them. The door handle of the room was loose, and the staff who showed us the room couldn't open it properly in a single shot maybe because of this.

Fantastic experience. The location is unbeatable—right along the seaside, with vibrant and lively surroundings in the evening that truly bring Pondicherry to life. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and always ready to help, from the reception to housekeeping, the bar, and the restaurant. The breakfast: excellent, a wide variety of delicious options. I also loved the pool area—it’s a perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring. The entire hotel was clean and well-maintained, adding to the comfort of the stay. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Pondicherry!

Location.location. Location. It's on the promenade with a lovely courtyard. The cafe is nice and the staff are young and very warm. They reached out the day before check in to inform us about car parking / valet arrangements

Staff are young and a bit inexperienced. They are very warm and friendly - but could be better trained. The superior room is very tight for 3 people - with an extra bed there is almost no space to walk around. So unless the third person is a child - a party of 3 should get two rooms or the suite

Location - Excellent , beach facing and probably the best in area. very near to all major landmarks and walking distance to white town. very nice restaurants nearby. Breakfast - decent spread with lots of options. patisserie goods are really yummy. Inhouse Dining is the star here. they provide excellent seafood options. we had the most awesome lobster served. Small pool but lot of fun. Overall , i highly recommend it,

Room - big and well appointed but needs maintenance. bathrooms should be upgraded and cleaned thouroughly.

Great location on sea front, staff were really nice, breakfast was pretty good, coffee excellent. Hotel is a bit dated and could do with a bit of modernising but I suppose it gives a sense of old worldly charm that some might like. Expected this so was not a surprise and overall it met our expectations.

Roof terrace restaraunt although fine has quite a high level glass screen around perimeter which is grubby and it obsures what should be a great viewing area out over the sea front.

The Promenade overlooks the Promenade beach - it feels like a private beach. If you really understand continental food, you will realize that the food is excellent! Every dessert (tiramisu) and main course (tenderloin steak, red snapper, fettucine pasta) was just perfect. The Egg Benedict at breakfast was a dream! Also met Mr. Dilip Kapur, founder of Hidesign and owner of The Promenade. Wonderful gentleman and a great person!

The location was great, right on the beach. Delicious breakfast with lots of options. The staff was extremely nice and helpful with any requests we had. The hotel provided pick-up and drop-off at Chennai airport. The driver was very polite and professional. Stopped on the way to let us eat and get some tea. Will definitely stay here again, and hopefully get the same driver to pick us up next time.

The room was nice, however, the view out the window was quite poor. There was really no view. Luckily we didn't stay in the room much so it didn't really bother us. The floors were very cold, so perhaps some small carpet could make the room a bit more cozy. The washroom was quite small and after a shower, most of the floor was wet, which due to humidity kept our bathmats and towels wet. (Also there was not much space to hang and dry the towels so we needed to ask for some extras).

We were given a very bad room at first but the staff cooperated and gave us the best room after we showed discomfort !

The front desk staff took the payment via UPI on check in itself but they hadn't received the payment in account. They did not tell us about this for our 2days stay and while checking out created a chaos for us as our taxi to Chennai waited for almost 1. 5hrs thus delaying all of our schedule. Thankfully our flight from chennai was next day else we would have surely missed. The reception staff should be a bit more smarter to handle such issues.

The property was right on the rock beach street and almost all the places to cover in white town were in walking distance. You can just get down and watch the sunrise. Take a stroll in the evening. The place was very lively. The complimentary breakfast was an absolute killer! The chefs and staffs were so friendly and attentive. The bar had most of the drinks and the outdoor seating was a great spot to sit and chat.

There was some construction work going on nearby and that could be disturbing in the mornings. The room service took quite some time. It might be because of the checkin rush. However, all the requests were met later. The floor drain in the restroom was a problem, the water clogged every time one took a shower.
