We've stayed at La Joya Balangan a number of times and find the property to be very charming, though not without the need for improvements. The restaurant and pool are lovely, with a great view of the sea. The staff are very kind and friendly, and the rooms are reasonably priced. Even though this property needs a bit of work (and has done for a while), we keep coming back.

Many of the rooms need some work - we stayed in a room (for the second time!) that has a door that doesn't have a lock, instead you're given a bike lock with a combination to secure the room. It's funny, but a bit silly. The shower in our room had pretty irregular water pressure and overall needed some attention. There was some construction going on around the second pool which was fine, but the pool itself seems to have deteriorated quite a lot.

The stay in La Joya is a wonderful experience. The bungalows are very private with large personal space, the staff is extremely diligent in guaranteeing a top notch experience and the view from the restaurant and the pool is outstanding. It also has an easy access to the beach, from up the cliff, and to view points. The restaurant food was also a great positive, with an amazing breakfast (6 different menu options to choose from).

I had some small issues with the cleaning in my room and with my designated guide (as he was much more a driver than a guide). Nevertheless, it shouldn't bring down the first-class experience

The service is the best in my opinion. The environment is very comfortable and the scenery is very good. It is close to the sea. It's a pity that we came during the rainy season and didn't see the sunset we wanted. But this makes me determined to come again next time.

My stay was very good. The sandbags at the door were always wet because of the rain, so I personally hope that a comfortable chair or single sofa can be added to the room, and the lighting can be a little brighter, which would be great! 👍🏻

Love the room style and gardens. Area around the restaurant and pool is lovely. Having our own private garden was gorgeous.

The pool at the back of the property needs some serious attention. Super slimy and in need of a good clean. Perhaps rather than building more rooms which is currently happening, more time could be spent on a little maintenance here and there. Having said that, it was very good value for money in that location. Breakfasts were great but I felt a little love was missing from the dinner plates. Not everything on the menu was available either.

Cleanliness of villa should be improved - we had situations that the majority of the place was made up but e.g., some litter/dishes left for no reason or towels weren’t changed Airport transfer - local drivers arranged by the hotel were super cool, however the pricing was almost double the price of grab (hotel and it’s vicinity maintain anti-app policy so the grab pick up point is located ~500m from the hotel

Loved the rooms and views of garden from them (note there is a toilet in the room but private shower is in own hut outside - we enjoyed it but was not clear when boooking). The views of sea and beach from pool and restaurant are great. The walk to go the beach was shorter than expected. Loved the yoga and husband loved surfing in morning. Great food and drinks. Very friendly staff. Amazing massage. Beautiful lush landscaped grounds.

Noises at night were a bit wild and loud (dogs, roosters and motorbike road noise). I got used to it but kids didn't like it and light sleepers would have an issue. However we were in hut in far back corner so other huts may not have been as noisy. Location is a bit out of main area but part of that is its charm. Only about 15mins back to main road.

The location is excellent. Balangan beach is a quiet area with just a few hotels nearby and some warungs on a beautiful and somewhat secluded beach. La Joya has its own beach access from an adjacent paddock where the lovely Balinese cows graze in the mornings and there are yoga classes in the evenings. There are 2 pools in the resort, both of which are nicely sized and well designed, set within beautifully maintained grounds that feel like a big tropical garden. Most rooms are private, detached villas with a deck and a garden screened from view by banana palms and other tropical plants. The villas themselves are very attractive and generously sized with comfortable king size beds and a great day-bed for lazing around and reading. There was good water pressure in the showers, air conditioning, a great mosquito net - everything needed to make the villa a comfortable place to relax. The best part of the resort is the staff - they were helpful and very friendly but not intrusive, providing whatever you ask and treating you kindly. Puspa, Martini, and Loly on the front desk and Komang in the restaurant were very helpful during our stay and lent the resort a very warm atmosphere - the best of Balinese hospitality. Also, the masseuses at the on-site spa were especially good. We came back for massages every other day and were fabulously pampered by Prama and Putri.

The hotel provides just one bottle of free drinking water per day, which really was not enough. Another villa we stayed at provided a tank of drinking water for each villa and something like this would be much appreciated. Most restaurants in Bali provide either bamboo, paper, or metal drinking straws with drinks. La Joya is unfortunately still using plastic straws which can contribute to the unfortunate plastic pollution problem on the island or, if burned, produce air pollution. It would be a small change to provide paper straws, and the right thing to do. There are no other negatives to report.

Very beautiful surroundings and a well-maintained yard. The pool offers a lovely view of the ocean. Convenient private access to the beach. The bungalow is comfortable, and the separate building for the shower in the garden was especially exciting. For breakfast, you can order a dish from a menu, which was particularly delicious. The spa services offer great value for money and are of good quality. There are two daily yoga sessions with a very likeable instructor.

The property was ideally situated very close to the beautiful beach of Balangan! The amenities were excellent and the staff were all incredibly courteous and helpful! The two swimming pools were stunning and we would be delighted to return in the future!

Not enough electoral power points in the room and the breakfast was a bit limited in terms of healthy options and gluten free choices
