We spent 7 days at Deep Roots and we adored it. First things first, the staff. It is difficult to describe in words how kind and open hearted they are. Each and every one of them makes you feel welcome and they would all do the extra mile to accommodate you. Always smiling and spreading positive energy, we will really miss them! Second, the facilities. We had massages and the therapists were very professional and highly skilled. We also tried yoga with the lovely yoga teacher Gizelle, which was also fantastic. They have 2 yoga sessions per day that you can join, along with meditation sessions and more. Moreover, the pool is very enjoyable and so it is the rest of the property which is basically a botanic garden full of tropical plants providing shade and coolness. Just amazing! We also did 3 days of diving with the manager of the diving center, Leo and his crew. This guys are simply amazing! Very skilled, extremely professional and, most importantly, calm, kind and very sweet. We loved the dive sites and the whole diving crew and we will miss them a lot. Third, the villas. We stayed at the Mountain view villas which are beyond beautiful! You will find lots of space, a king size bed in the room and a small tropical garden in the bathroom. And the view from the terrace is to die for. Last but not least, I want to mention the food. Some reviews here say the food is not satisfactory. However, as someone dealing with food professionally, I can guarantee that a whole lot of thought has been put into the development of the menu, balancing dishes and plating. Each and every dish was carefully prepared and freshly made with high quality ingredients, possibly local. I cannot overstate how much I appreciate their cuisine. We also met the owners who explained a bit more about the background concept of Deep roots. We hope some day we will come back for Mola Mola and the lovely locals on this magic and beautiful island. And we will for sure stay again at Deep roots.

Absolutely nothing.

Exceptionally well fitted, great staff and world level high quality standard, clearly setting it apart from other Bali facilities. I also made use of the Deep Roots Dive Center and wonderful massage offerings. Really great place to be and relax at high standard. The dive center has super nice managers and instructors and I even got my diving certification, even if I did not plan on getting it. But they were so nice and the whole resort felt so good that I went for it!

The road to the property was not that good. Common issue on the island and in Bali.

The resort is truly incredible. Everywhere looks so beautiful, the rooms are very modern. Everything was clean, you could see the ocean from the pool, and every single member of staff was incredibly friendly. We also enjoyed the breakfast, and our dinner there was also very good. The diving school was also particularly special for us. All the diving instructors are very friendly and made every effort to ensure we had the best experience. The concept of having a diving school right on site really makes sense. We went on a snorkeling trip and went scuba diving – both highly recommended! A stay here is worthwhile; we wish we could have stayed longer.

As opposed to many of the other resorts on the island, Deep Roots fits very well into the environment. It feels private and zen in all the right ways. The staff were nothing short of incredible, and we left feeling like a part of the family. The owners were on site more often than not, and always up for a chat. We went diving with Deep Roots as well, which felt safe and authentic, and we could tell that the instructors valued the environment in a way that many do not. They also organized a day trip around the island for us. Regardless of what we wanted or needed, a solution was found. Everything you will need in a stay on Nusa Penida, you will get at Deep Roots. The staff was super friendly and helpfull! Our daughter enjoyed the constant entertainment by the staff en loved her stay. Everything was super clean. The food was amazing and healthy. Would recommend!

Everything! The resort, staff and management were amazing. We wanted a place to relax and lounge at after traveling around Bali for two weeks, which the resort met. Our rooms were comfortable, clean and when we needed resupplies for our coffees or towels, we received them within minutes, the service was amazing! We also appreciated the attention to detail the resort offered visually and thoughtfully to make you feel at home with privacy but also making you feel pampered at the same time. A typical day would be waking up and doing Yoga before breakfast at the beautiful, lively restaurant. Followed by either a diving lesson or a tour around the island which was easily organized by the resort. The afternoon was spent lounging by the pool, reading a book, relaxing or playing in the pool with the kids. Finishing the day off with a tasty meal at the restaurant.

Beautiful setting, perfect location and large property with nice facilities. Very well maintained, room was super clean, bathroom was incredible. The staff were awesome too.

Nothing not to like, I would go again every time without hesitation. Only thing that I would like to see is a refresh on the food menu, as there are not very many options and we tried almost all of them during our stay.

Staff is incredibly kind and helpful to make you have an amazing time, so all credits to them. Bungalows have everything you need and even more. Pool is great to relax at. Breakfast and drinks options were great as well. You almost dont really need to leave the resort because they offer/organize plenty of activities for the guests, like cooking classes, yoga, theme nights and of course they have their own diving school.

Perhaps some of the food options for dinner were slightly flat taste wise (we ate all nights at the resort). The BBQ night could have some improvement portion and taste wise.

Really nice new property in Penida with really kind staff. Offering yoga, diving, trips around island and many others. Also has a christmas program for us. :) The owners of the property are also very nice and always made sure that your stay was pleasant.

Unfortunately some dishes were not so good in The terrace. It would like to season the food more. another thing is the prices for transportation around the island, for transportation 15-20 minutes from the accommodation and back 500k idr is an awful lot compared to the whole of Bali. even when compared to how much is paid on Penida for full-day trips to the east and west.

We spent 5 nights at Deep Roots and would have liked to have stayed a few more nights. This was by far the best accommodation on our Bali trip. The small villas are very spacious and beautifully furnished. The bathroom in particular is fantastic and looks even better in real life than in the pictures. We were particularly impressed by the view we had from the terrace, although we had booked garden view, we could see the sea. The staff was always extremely friendly and courteous. Our highlight was the diving course with Beth. Although I had a lot of respect for it, thanks to Beth it felt like the most normal thing in the world and like going diving with a friend. We can only warmly recommend Deep Roots and the diving school.

That's just a small thing. However, breakfast sometimes took a long time. One day we had a lot planned and had to wait 40 minutes for breakfast, even though we were the only ones there.
