the room size was good the gardens were lovely and it’s in a good position on a lovely street. the staff are really nice too

the breakfast was not good but that changed while we were there and it was better - still not sure they have it quite right yet - the food was nice but very limited ok for a couple of days but very repetitive if you are there for a week the bedding needs to be replaced with new bedding some of it was freyed with holes in and the towels were clean but old, worn and discoloured umbrellas round the pool area would be handy as there is no shade

Pros: Location, really easy to walk to the centre, lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, jewellery making, tours, monkey Forest yet in a very quiet lane. Swimming pool, very well kept, almost always quiet, perfect to refresh. The staff, are so attentive and friendly. Had a lot of attention to detail. Size of the hotel, since there are only 16 rooms, it has a great feeling of being safe, family friendly and quiet. If you would like to order something to your room you would almost immediately get it. The terrace at the room was really nice to sit down, unwind and have a beer in the afternoons The menu from the restaurant had kids options and it was really simple but delicious. Since the location is great you can use the app grab and get almost any food delivered to the hotel.

The bathroom has a funky smell to humidity and it needs to be renovated, but it was cleaned everyday and the water was really hot. The breakfast is really nice but simple, after 5 days you may get tired of the same two options.

The room was large and spacious enough to do yoga practice, which was lovely. The bathroom was clean and well-appointed. And when there was a problem with the shower, it was immediately resolved. The breakfast offering was simple, but tasty. The staff were especially accommodating with providing chilli on request. The pool was sparkling and clean. The gardens were delightful and perfectly manicured - a real oasis. Location was superb - quiet but close to everything in the heart of Ubud. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. My kindest regards to Feby, Kadek and everyone at the Reception and Restaurant. Finally, I had to cut my trip short due to a respiratory illness and the hotel was incredibly accommodating - allowing me to reduce my booking, with just a small penalty. This was completely at the discretion of the owner/manager, Dewi and displayed a level of compassion rarely seen in today's commercial profit-driven world. I am forever grateful for their kindness.

A few things which others have mentioned but not really a big issue: the towels and bed linen are frayed (but clean) and the bed was quite hard, which may not be to everyone's comfort. The room had been partially repainted, which made it look somewhat tired.The doors to the balcony did not close properly, which meant having to spray with mosquito spray to avoid being bitten.

I had a wonderful stay at Batu Empug - the staff were very helpful, and the facilities were generally good. The location is exceptional, super central to everything in Ubud. My room was clean, the aircon kept me cool and the wifi was reliable.

The aircon was very noisy - I would definitely recommend bringing earplugs for your stay. There were a few small issues - eg. the guest upstairs flooded my room, the hot water (gas bottle) had not been replaced and ran out, and there was a power cut (which made using the bathroom impossible as no windows). On the whole, these issues were very minor, and the stay was enjoyable, spacious and clean, with staff willing to assist whenever possible.

The staff was very cooperative with well maintained rooms and beautiful property.

Spacious room and bathroom. 6 minute stroll to the main shopping and dining strip. 15 minute walk to monkey Forrest. The breakfast was very good considering this is small venue. We had choice of American, Indonesian or continental breakfast. All three had fruit platter tea, coffee, juice. American had eggs, toast, bacon, potato, tomato, baked beans. Indonesian had nasi goring. Continental had croissants, bread, toast, muffin etc. Dodi and his staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much for them. We would definitely come back to beautiful Batu Empug 😃

We liked everything!

We had a wonderful large room that overlooked the pool area. The room was cleaned daily and bottled water was provided each day. Very comfortable bed and large shower. The staff at Batu Empug Ubud make the whole experience, particularly Kadek! Kadek went above and beyond for myself and my partner throughout our whole stay, I would highly recommend anyone staying to book day trips/ tours through him as he is an amazing tour guide. Kadek kindly provided us a tour to the Aloha ubud swings and the ATV tour and was so patient while we completed our activities. It also happened to be my birthday whilst staying at Batu Empug and the staff kindly decorated our room and sang happy birthday to me. They truly made my birthday so special. I would recommend this hotel to all!

The staff is absolutely wonderful. The hotel itself is small with only about 16 rooms around the pool so it has a family atmosphere. The pool area is quite nice and the little restaurant serves a good breakfast made fresh when ordered. The location is perfect for walking around Ubud, central but quiet. On the street there is Radiantly Alive, one of the best yoga centers, there is Bali Buda and HerbLibrary, two amazing restaurants with fantastic food and to the Palace and the Market it’s a 15 Minute walk along the main road with some nice cafes and shops.

As the doors to the balcony don’t fully close due to what the humidity does to wood (like in every hotel around here) it would be nice if they had mosquito nets installed over the bed.

Rooms are clean and big. The restaurant is very good. The swimming pool is perfect. But, the most appreciable thing is the staff ! We would like to thank all the staff. You were amazing. We appreciated your good vibes and the conversations we got about your culture during our stay. Take care of you !

Nothing, if we come back in Bali, for sure we'll choose this hotel.
