Staff really friendly. Peaceful setting with nice garden, pond and pool. Location was good, short 10-15 minutes walk to the centre, and close to a few restaurants and supermarkets. The rooms were fairly well cleaned and looked out on a nice jungle view with balcony.

Our room was damp and had black mould growing in various different areas. We notified staff who were able to move us rooms but only after our second night out of 4. The fact that the hotel was allowing guests to stay in the room with this mould was inconsiderate to our health. I have asthma and j woke up in the mornings wheezing and having difficulty breathing. The hotel also offered us a free massage as an apology which was a welcome gesture, but this did not fix the fact that this issue happened in the first place. The hotel is closing in November for a month to carry out major works to fix the damp issue so it should be sorted soon, but we paid too much for this hotel considering the issue and lack of comfort.

The property is very authentically Balinese. It situated in central Ubud and backs onto the rain forest. We traveled with a family of 5 (3 teenagers). The property is situated 5min walk for the main street in Ubud. It is lovely and quite, has lovely gardens and pool. The staff were outstanding and helped us with everything. The breakfast is excellent. Way more than we could eat. The on site massage is wonderful and we booked in daily! We also walked into town every evening for dinner (approx 7min walk to the main square) and approx 25min walk to monkey forest.

Our stay in the bungalow was absolutely gorgeous. Waking up to views of lush greenery from our balcony was such a peaceful and beautiful experience. On the other side, we had a direct view of the pool, which was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. They also made a gorgeous decoration for our arrival too! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming—each time we returned, they greeted us with warmth and made us feel right at home. They were always available to assist with anything we needed, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The pool was a highlight for us—serene, clean, and the perfect place to lounge or take a refreshing swim. It really added to the relaxing atmosphere of the hotel. The location was ideal—within walking distance to the center of Ubud, yet tucked away enough to enjoy a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle. Every walk back to our bungalow was a delight, surrounded by natural beauty and a sense of calm. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy both convenience and serenity in Ubud.

Lovely grounds and pool area. Room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast, particularly the pancakes were lovely. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The bathroom could be upgraded we felt. It was a little far out from the main area of restaurants and cafes. We had an incident with a huge spider in our room, as someone with a fear of spiders it wasn't ideal and affected the rest of my stay. I know this is nothing to do with the hotel but just something to be aware of being that near to jungle if you do have a fear, I had never considered it! Thanks to the staff who removed it the next morning ☺️

Relaxing and quiet location a short walk from main Ubud street, which was very busy. The bungalows are off the main north to south road but as you walk into the compound and through the gardens you walk away ftom the traffic noise and towards the countryside behind. We could hear a river and bird noises, very tranquil. Pretty gardens, a good pool with sun loungers. The staff are great, very friendly and helpful and speak good English so easy to communicate. The breakfast choices excellent and the night before we chose our breakfast time and dishes. We enjoyed the mixed juices and fruit selection followed by either Eggs Benedict or mushroom omelet. The rooms are spacious with a large balcony with furniture and view over the trees and plants behind. A bonus was having a pure water container on tap in our room so we didn't have to keep walking to shops to buy large bottles of drinking water. We filled our glasses and drinking bottles in the room, very convenient and helps reduce plastic waste, a nice touch, the only accommodation on our trip that did this out of 4 accommodations. The staff helped us with local information and booked us a local guide who was very experienced and spoke fluent English. We enjoyed a day touring different villages, Mt Agung, waterfalls and the holy water temple. We packed in lots in an 8 hour tour and leant about Balinese culture.

The bungalows were located within the beautiful, peaceful, and authentic Balinese compounds where the owner and his family reside. Although situated along a busy street, the atmosphere was calming and relaxing once we entered the gate. The pool was clean and we enjoyed our time relaxing and cooling off from the afternoon heat. The staff was welcoming and attentive. The breakfast definitely exceeded our expectations.

- Located on a busy Ubud street without parking or place to stop, so if you have considerable luggage, prepare to juggle - Very limited veg options in the breakfast

The Gunung Merta Bungalows is a great place for a stay in Ubud, with its spacious and homely rooms. It gives us the experience of staying in a traditional Balinese compound with its moss grown walls and the greenery all around. There was an artistic touch everywhere to the place that made the stay more pleasant. The service was fantastic and even on a rainy day when it was pouring down, we had ordered something to eat and it arrived in a very short span of time and the food was delicious. Overall, the aesthetic feel of the place combined with the hospitality of the people and the fact that it is right in the middle of Ubud made our stay in the Gunung Merta Bungalows a memorable one. Moreover, the Ubud Palace, the Art Market and the Saraswathi temple are just a 10 minute walk from here and these are sights you wouldn't want to miss.

I loved every single thing about this place. The property is in walking distance from the central Ubud. Within the property owners residential area and some other buildings all in traditional, and the hotel is deep inside facing the jungle side. So even though you're staying one step away from the big road, you hear nothing but the birds chirping. Oh the staff members - they were the kindest people I've met in the entire trip, and I mean Balinese are all kind but these staff were the best. The breakfast was amazing too. You can either have them delivered to your room or have it at the restaurant. During our stay, we tried almost all kinds of breakfast they offer and we were not disappointed once. I loved the big pool too. It's not private but there weren't that many people using it. I prefer this big pool over the private pools at the two other places I stayed in Bali.
