A tranquil oasis about 6 kms from Ubud township. The rooms are beautifully appointed, a very comfortable bed and generous outdoor area which allows you to relax in the jungle setting. The gardens are beautiful as is the pool area affording jungle and rice paddy view. Many magnificent butterflies decorate the garden. The staff are excellent, and are very attentive. The breakfasts are delicious, extremely generous and offer a wide selection. The lunch and dinner menus are also varied and the standard is very high and at very reasonable prices. We ate there every night and were never disappointed. This resort is excellent value for money! If you are not familiar with the Ubud area please note that the traffic going to and from Ubud is diabolical due to the overwhelming number of tourists on scooters. Frankly this is a dangerous practice, many end up needing medical attention! Even though you are only 6 kms or 30 minutes by car it can take over an hour each way. This is not a reflection on the resort! They offer a complementary shuttle service so I would recommend earlier day trips in and out of Ubud.

An exceptional place to stay! The reception staff were always on time, precise, and incredibly kind. One of the best things was the WhatsApp service — super efficient. They respond almost immediately, and you can use it to book anything or ask for information or assistance with ease. When we first arrived in our room, we noticed the bed sheets had some stains and a few hairs. We reported it via WhatsApp and someone came right away to clean everything — very professional and quick response. The pool is nice, but what truly stands out is the stunning garden surrounding the rooms. It feels like the Garden of Eden — lush, wild, yet perfectly maintained. A real haven of peace and beauty. The restaurant was good, though not exceptional — probably due to the huge variety of dishes on the menu, clearly designed to cater to a very international clientele with diverse tastes and dietary habits. Breakfast, on the other hand, was excellent. Even though it’s à la carte, there was a good variety of options and everything we tried was delicious. Highly recommended overall — we really enjoyed our stay!

One small downside was the lack of a proper space to open and organize our suitcases. Since most of the room was taken up by the bed, the bathtub, and the desk, it felt a bit cramped and got messy quite quickly. A larger wardrobe would also have been helpful for storing clothes and keeping things tidy. The location is peaceful and away from the chaos — which we really appreciated — but keep in mind that reaching the city center can take up to 40 minutes by scooter during peak traffic hours.

The resort was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery and nature. The restaurant overlooks the pool, offering a stunning view that really adds to the experience. The rooms were nice and spacious, though there were some visible signs of wear and tear. The semi-outdoor bathroom is a unique feature, though it might not be for everyone. Being in the middle of nature, and with the bungalows not fully sealed, it's possible to encounter Tokehs (geckos) in your room. They tend to hide on the ceiling and can surprise you with their loud calls. The staff is happy to help remove them, although it’s not always successful. It’s part of the nature experience, if you don’t like that, this might not be the place for you.

The restaurant staff wasn’t quite as warm as we’ve experienced elsewhere in Bali, but still fine. The menu was quite extensive and on the pricier side for Indonesian standards. Our tip: consider a smaller menu and focus on perfecting those dishes.

After 4 weeks in Bali best accommodation (and we also stayed in some more expensive resorts). Bungalows seems new, very comfortable bed , ac worked amazing, semi outdoor shower is just out of this world! Territory is like a jungle garden very beautiful, big clean pool with views on small river and palms trees. BREAKFAST IS THE BEST , so tasty and wide choice, such a beautiful presentation and you can have it at restaurant, your porch or floating at the pool free of charge. We had dinner there as well, food was tasty. Balinese massage was good as well.

It’s just something to keep in mind when you plan your trip, it is a bit far from Ubud (which we knew) , but with crazy Ubud traffic it can take quite some time to get to the city. Monkey forest is 20 mins away, but Ubud palace will take you in traffic 30-40 mins. They have free shuttle couple of times per day and also it’s very easy to call grab taxi, so it’s not an issue just smth to keep in mind. This would definitely not stop me from coming again, because it was sooo sooo beautiful and comfortable, recommend it 100%

Incredibly beautiful & relaxing spot!! It feels like you’re living in the forest 🌳 The room/cabin was huge & had everything we needed. Food was amazing, we really appreciated having breakfast included. The pool spot was an absolute dream. The staff went above & beyond - always welcoming with a smile. The hospitality was beautiful. Absolutely loved it here, would highly recommend. It is on the outskirts of Ubud which we really loved because it was quiet and surrounded by so much local beauty but just something to be mindful of as you’ll need to travel through traffic into the city for “touristy” sites.

Surrounded by nature, it’s the perfect place to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with what really matters. We even started our 2 AM hike to Mount Batur from here, and coming back to the stillness of the resort and the smiles of the staff was just what we needed. If you’re looking for a place with soul—honest, intimate, and full of Balinese charm—this is it. We’d come back a thousand times over. Huge thanks to all the legends we met at Rumah Kayu. Everything was perfect.

We were thoroughly impressed by this property. Beautiful grounds - the property felt very private. Nice landscaping, good lighting, very clean. Staff was absolutely lovely and always available to assist via What's App. Great food at the restaurant, and we were even lucky enough with our timing to able to get a yoga lesson one morning before breakfast for free. Please note - it is not in Ubud proper - for us this worked very well as it was a bit quieter where the property was; but for some people they may want to be closer. A/C worked extremely well in our room.

No gym on site - but not a big deal as long as you are aware!

The whole area was amazing The room was quite nice You feel like you are in the middle of a jungle The amount of vegetation is so dense which makes it quite unique. It is great for relaxation and I’ll visit there again.

Given that this is a kinda cottage in the middle of a jungle, it is expected to see creepy things as I saw a gecko inside. But the Hotel team were quite helpful to get rid of it. So this is part of the nature of such a property and there is no complain. However, there is no sealing between the door and the walls and insects or lizards can easily come in. So I believe this should be improved. Also, the restaurant food is quite average.

We stayed at Rumah Kayu Resort for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. The facilities were amazing, offering everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel very welcome. The garden is beautiful and there is a lot of greenery. It was a truly enjoyable experience, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and peaceful retreat.

I wouldn’t recommend using the airport shuttle from the hotel, as the car was quite old. Grab is a much cheaper and more comfortable option for getting around. Additionally, there’s ongoing construction on the site, which made it hard to fully enjoy the pool and restaurant area due to the noise and disruption. The breakfast area is outdoors, but unfortunately, the fan wasn’t working, making it unbearably hot to eat there. While the concept of pre-ordering breakfast is great, there was quite a bit of confusion and a mix-up with our order, which impacted the overall experience.
