The Ring Farmhouse is like a refuge/oasis in the middle of the Birr, Offaly countryside. The location allows sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and from the breakfast room you can see the lovely garden (with cats) and beyond. It seems the cows almost come up to the sitting room window! The location is a couple kms outside of the town of Birr - a nice walk (for me). Carmel, the host, is an extremely welcoming, helpful, and friendly person - offering to collect me from the town of Birr and then leaving me to the bus stop (in Crinkill) after check out. The room was clean and comfortable with good facilities - TV, tea/coffee (very important) etc. I would absolutely recommend this place for a very peaceful and relaxing stay - perfect to recharge your batteries. I hope it long continues to provide visitors with a wonderful accommodation opportunity in (the other side of the county I live in!) Offaly.

There is no downside that I can think of. I had been thinking of staying here for a while, and I am glad I finally did. There was a mix up with my booking, but - luckily - it didn't actually affect me that much.

Carmel the owner was an absolute gem! So friendly & welcoming. I stayed here with my 83 year old mom & Carmel made tea for her whenever she wanted it. We sat off in the sitting room watch telly with Carmel & chatting. Also sat out on her comfortable outdoor furniture chatting . Our room was spacious, spotless & so comfortable. Beautiful white bed linen ; everything we needed in the bathroom, powerful shower; tea/coffee/ latte/cappuccino & biscuits available in our room - fresh milk available in fridge in sitting room (where we also had access to freshly brewed coffee!) The breakfast was fabulous- lots of choices of freshly cooked breakfasts ; freshly fruit , cereals & juices & freshly brewed choices of coffees!! The freshly baked brown bread & fabulous fresh scones with various jams were absolutely delicious. A real home from home experience. My mom had a fabulous time. From Claire & Kathleen

Everything was AMAZING

The host was amazing! So friendly and accommodating. Also replies quickly to queries on Booking.com Breakfast was great. Topped off with homemade scones and soda bread Rooms were very comfortable Location is so peaceful. You can't get to town by foot as far as I know but it's only a 5min drive to Birr town

Would have liked more tea making options. There was only herbal teas in the room.

excellent stay - quiet - you only hear the locals bed comfy handy sink for filling the kettle haha breakfast excellent - didnt have full but scrambled eggs were good easy to find

that i was travelling over this week again and tried to book but full - oh well gravel driveway (but thats not their fault - i just happened to pick 3 places in 5 days haha)

It is a beautiful setting. Room was beautiful and clean. Shower was great. Carmel was great and the breakfast was fab!! I think the two best two breakfasts I ever got were Carmels and Springview House in Urlingford. Freshly baked scones and brown bread. Fruit Bowl. Choice of cereal. Beautiful fry! Kept me going all day!!! Top class. I really can't praise it enough. Only disappointment was I had to be in Athlone at 9.25 and had to get up early and rush away. I'll defo be back!. Thank you!!

Such a nice house in lovely location. Our room was very comfortable and had a nice view. Carmel recommended The Thatch for dinner which was excellent and very nearby. My husband had the cooked breakfast at The Ring which was perfect and I had the continental which I really enjoyed, especially with the home baked scones which were the best I have ever had. If I travel in Ireland again I wouldn't hesitate to stay at The Ring Farmhouse.

There was nothing that we didn't like.

Carmel was naturally welcoming, accommodating and helpful to make the stay so relaxed in their beautiful home. Beautiful, peaceful home in the country. Room was gorgeous, it had everything you needed and it was spotless. Breakfast room was even more fab, a conservatory looking out onto the garden and fields with sun shining in - perfect start to the day...

Everything perfect

Very welcoming host, super comfy bed, excellent breakfast. Great attention to detail - fridge available for guest and fresh milk for tea. Blackout blinds on the bedroom window. Very quiet and interesting location but still close to amenities in Birr.

Shower cubicle was tiny with nowhere to put own soap. But the shower itself was great!

Quiet setting. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom and bedroom. Beautiful bursting with colour garden, creative and inspiring, whether a zebra looking out from behind a standing stone, a donkey and a pig standing on their patch, a wooden dog and pig, somehow full of presence, milk barrels, wheelbarrows and bicycle baskets teaming with flowers . Cows, cats and kittens. It's an idyllic place.

The location was ideal for me. I stayed in the B&B as I was attending a funeral. The breakfast was out of this world. Loads of Cereal, Toast, orange juice, coffee and a full Irish breakfast. A very enjoyable experience 😉

I couldn't have asked for more. An outstanding experience. Nothing negative to report here.
