We liked 99% of the staff. See comment below. The food was lovely. The rooms were very impressive. We stayed in the Donegal Suite. The location was excellent.

The night manager that was on duty of the 22nd of Nov did not give us a drink in the residence bar. We were residence. It was only 1 o'clock. There was 8 of us which was part of a wedding party from the previous night. He was rude and totally unpleasant. After all the money we spent on Thursday and Friday in the hotel, and that was the treatment we received. Totally unexceptable for any hotel especially a 5 star hotel.

The castle is beautiful, our room was really big with a beautiful view of the garden. You can really relax with all the seating areas throughout the castle. There is lots of free parking. The gym, pool and spa facilities were really beautiful and well maintained. I had a 2 hour spa experience and Ciara my masseuse gave me one of the best massages I have ever had. We went for a bike ride, but the bikes are really not rideable. There are horse and buggy rides , we did not do that activity but saw a few families head out. We wish we had stayed one more night to relax, but would have driven to Donegal for dinner.

There is very limited access to the lake or even a chance to see it through all the over growth. You cannot go on the lake, there are no row boats available or any lake activity or dock area. That was really disappointing, we have stayed in several chateaus in France and there is always access and activities on the lakes on their property. We found the restaurant and bar food to be much lower quality than we would expect from such a high end hotel . Many of our food choices we felt were pre cook and just so so. Ingredients were not fresh etc.

We loved the idea of staying at a “castle” really a 19th century manor. The grounds were beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. We felt like we received really personalized service at dinner.

One issue. We went for a before dinner drink in the lounge and there was a large family gathering for dinner in the middle of the lounge to the irritation of everyone else which you could see on their faces. We had a hard time getting the server’s attention and she pretty well forgot about us twice after our drinks were ordered and after we requested the bill. And there were a couple of children who were pretty noisy. We really expect a lounge to be quiet.

Beautiful castle building with well manicured grounds, cozy interior sitting areas with fireplaces, elegant, luxurious, huge room & bathroom. Free bikes to ride around the property & amazing full breakfast, anything you wanted, was included with my booking. The entire staff was amazing, caring & accommodating.

My initial room that they gave me was ADA compliant which I did not think that I booked. They told me that it was booked thru Booking.com? I do not need ADA compliant nor did I like the set-up of the room. The staff which was fantastic, eventually moved me to another room after about one hour because the room had to be cleaned and they were fully booked. That was the only drawback to my whole Lough Eske Castle experience & that was NOT the fault of the hotel.

The staff at reception and in the restaurants and pub were very friendly and always ready to help with our stay. The food was excellent. The breakfast the following morning was fantastic! The grounds and gardens around the castle are beautiful and well kept up. We enjoyed walking/cycling around the various trails and roads nearby. The public area inside the castle really does give one the feeling of being in a grand castle. Very well kept up, with wonderful paintings, furniture, photos in all the various rooms available to relax in.

Our room was not quite as nice as I was expecting. It seemed smaller, a little beat up in places, and did not have the view we were expecting. However it was a nice room and very comfortable.

I had booked a horse carriage ride for 12 noon on a Sunday and when I arrived at the hotel.they told me it was cancelled but yet they did not send me.any email.on this before arriving even though I have booking confirmation from April. They then told.me they would sort it out for me for.sunday then when Sunday morning arrived they once again told.me it's not happening today. A huge let down as it was organized as a birthday present. Extremely disappointed, the main lady on desk was apologetic but could of organized it to be done Saturday when we arrived.

Beautiful building set in lovely grounds. Pool and thermal suite were excellent. Really good breakfast. Staff were very friendly. Bed was very comfortable with really nice bedding. There was a kettle and coffee machine in the room. Bathrobes and slippers were also provided

We stayed in a courtyard room on the upper floor. The floorboards creaked really bad and quite loud creaking from above about 4 in the morning. It was hard to sleep. The bathroom was ok. The shower had a rainfall shower head and a separate hose shower. It would have been impossible to shower without getting your hair wet and the hose shower was so high I couldn’t reach it. Along the front door of the shower was mouldy and the sinks were just ok. Slats were missing on the blinds.

The staff were the friendliest, most engaged, happy, helpful and positive spirited I have ever experienced. From the moment I parked my car and was assisted to reception, to the moment we left there wasn’t a single member of staff who didn’t beam positive ‘can do’, ‘happy to help’ attitude. Whoever is recruiting, training and motivating the staff needs to be applauded. Higher star, higher end, more ‘exclusive’ establishments, of which I’ve been to many around the world, need to visit and take notes!

Downstairs bar was understaffed and never open to serve drinks whenever we tried. Given the hotel was near capacity over Christmas this was a glaring oversight.

Amazing location, beautiful scenery gorgeous food and excellent friendly staff

Maybe it’s just because it’s the old type theme but the main lounge has condensation drips coming down the wallpaper beside the fireplace which I thought strange and the floor was a little dirty but they were super busy so…..also the dust on the 4 poster bed posts at the top was an easy oversight. Skirting boards are well scuffed in the hallways too. Nothing that would put me off staying, just it’s 5 star so probably easy fixed

The staff were excellent. The concierge service 5 stars The public areas cery special. The Xmas themed decorations were tasteful and pretty. The open fires and the library space!! For a luxury room ... I couldn't find the hairdryer. You need a little sign. The coffee machine didn't perform well. For a property of this calibre the bedroom to look exquisite. Luxury thread Cound bedding A throw and the bed to look inviting rather than just clean and neat. There should be a pillow menu. I've experienced and it really makes a huge difference to your sleep. I enjoyed the breakfast but my Mum didn't.
