We liked 99% of the staff. See comment below. The food was lovely. The rooms were very impressive. We stayed in the Donegal Suite. The location was excellent.

The night manager that was on duty of the 22nd of Nov did not give us a drink in the residence bar. We were residence. It was only 1 o'clock. There was 8 of us which was part of a wedding party from the previous night. He was rude and totally unpleasant. After all the money we spent on Thursday and Friday in the hotel, and that was the treatment we received. Totally unexceptable for any hotel especially a 5 star hotel.

The staff at Lough Eske really make the experience. From the beginning of our stay- the man who took our bags to our room for us was INCREDIBLE! He shook our hands, he told us how welcome we were, he absolutely went out of his way to make us feel valued. I have never received a warmer welcome. It was the best hotel staff experience of my life. Thank you!

A few aspects of our room seemed a little dated and worn. The lampshades were all cracked/yellowed/stained. There were drip marks on the walls from the skylights. Our mini-blinds had seen better days and were broken. Etc.

The castle was grand and magical! The rooms were quite spacious and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, definitely felt like a luxurious experience. The bathrooms very large and lovely with a great towel heater. The robes and slippers were an excellent touch and the spa was wonderful and relaxing without too exorbitant of prices. The bar dinner was lovely, as well as the complimentary breakfast. The photo collection and history in the downstairs bar was very interesting! So many rooms to explore and relax in, we loved having a drink from the bar and playing cards by the fire. The grounds were wonderful and biking around with the complimentary bicycles was a lovely note to end the trip on. Wish we could have stayed multiple nights!

The Courtyard Room didn't have heat for some reason? The hotel was able to bring in a space heater which helped but seemed strange in Ireland. The Deluxe Room was heated!

The castle is beautiful, our room was really big with a beautiful view of the garden. You can really relax with all the seating areas throughout the castle. There is lots of free parking. The gym, pool and spa facilities were really beautiful and well maintained. I had a 2 hour spa experience and Ciara my masseuse gave me one of the best massages I have ever had. We went for a bike ride, but the bikes are really not rideable. There are horse and buggy rides , we did not do that activity but saw a few families head out. We wish we had stayed one more night to relax, but would have driven to Donegal for dinner.

There is very limited access to the lake or even a chance to see it through all the over growth. You cannot go on the lake, there are no row boats available or any lake activity or dock area. That was really disappointing, we have stayed in several chateaus in France and there is always access and activities on the lakes on their property. We found the restaurant and bar food to be much lower quality than we would expect from such a high end hotel . Many of our food choices we felt were pre cook and just so so. Ingredients were not fresh etc.

We loved the idea of staying at a “castle” really a 19th century manor. The grounds were beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. We felt like we received really personalized service at dinner.

One issue. We went for a before dinner drink in the lounge and there was a large family gathering for dinner in the middle of the lounge to the irritation of everyone else which you could see on their faces. We had a hard time getting the server’s attention and she pretty well forgot about us twice after our drinks were ordered and after we requested the bill. And there were a couple of children who were pretty noisy. We really expect a lounge to be quiet.

Beautiful castle building with well manicured grounds, cozy interior sitting areas with fireplaces, elegant, luxurious, huge room & bathroom. Free bikes to ride around the property & amazing full breakfast, anything you wanted, was included with my booking. The entire staff was amazing, caring & accommodating.

My initial room that they gave me was ADA compliant which I did not think that I booked. They told me that it was booked thru Booking.com? I do not need ADA compliant nor did I like the set-up of the room. The staff which was fantastic, eventually moved me to another room after about one hour because the room had to be cleaned and they were fully booked. That was the only drawback to my whole Lough Eske Castle experience & that was NOT the fault of the hotel.

I had booked a horse carriage ride for 12 noon on a Sunday and when I arrived at the hotel.they told me it was cancelled but yet they did not send me.any email.on this before arriving even though I have booking confirmation from April. They then told.me they would sort it out for me for.sunday then when Sunday morning arrived they once again told.me it's not happening today. A huge let down as it was organized as a birthday present. Extremely disappointed, the main lady on desk was apologetic but could of organized it to be done Saturday when we arrived.

The staff at reception and in the restaurants and pub were very friendly and always ready to help with our stay. The food was excellent. The breakfast the following morning was fantastic! The grounds and gardens around the castle are beautiful and well kept up. We enjoyed walking/cycling around the various trails and roads nearby. The public area inside the castle really does give one the feeling of being in a grand castle. Very well kept up, with wonderful paintings, furniture, photos in all the various rooms available to relax in.

Our room was not quite as nice as I was expecting. It seemed smaller, a little beat up in places, and did not have the view we were expecting. However it was a nice room and very comfortable.

Beautiful building set in lovely grounds. Pool and thermal suite were excellent. Really good breakfast. Staff were very friendly. Bed was very comfortable with really nice bedding. There was a kettle and coffee machine in the room. Bathrobes and slippers were also provided

We stayed in a courtyard room on the upper floor. The floorboards creaked really bad and quite loud creaking from above about 4 in the morning. It was hard to sleep. The bathroom was ok. The shower had a rainfall shower head and a separate hose shower. It would have been impossible to shower without getting your hair wet and the hose shower was so high I couldn’t reach it. Along the front door of the shower was mouldy and the sinks were just ok. Slats were missing on the blinds.

Beautiful grounds. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was good.

2 small things made it short of excellent. Bed pillows were very uncomfortable for us. Too puffy and hard. And we chose the less formal dinning option, sitting in the bar which we were told was first come first serve. We found that 3/4 of the tables were reserved. We ate on a coffee table that was ok, but had we known we would have reserved a regular table. Not make or break things, but I thought worth noting.
