Charming old country house - beautifully presented with lots of interesting things to admire. The rooms are spacious and beds extremely comfortable- we had a garden view and enjoyed seeing a family of hares running about. The bar area is delightful with a fire going and tasty bar food on offer. John is an exceptional and knowledgeable host and Helen, who provided a fabulous breakfast, was extremely friendly and helpful - it was lovely to chat to her. It’s a short walk into Ardara and the delights of Nancy’s bar, craft shops and cafes. We were spoilt for choice in terms of nearby beaches for swimming and walking. Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely nothing to complain about.

Traveled w/ spouse and 2 y.o., stayed in garden view room; staff was fantastic in all ways. Acommodations are welcoming and stately with recent upgrades to furnishings/furniture, gardens, etc. Modern touches while respecting the centuries old manor. Even had a toy bin which was handy. Breakfast was very generous, the dinner and bar was delicious and cozy. We were lucky enough to have time to chat with the owner, John, and other family/staff, giving us great insight into the area. Overall highly recommend, it is a unique gem in beautiful Donegal, even in rain.

n/a, the stay was great. fyi that in late Nov/Dec, most restaurants in the area are only open for dinner F/Sa/Su but taps and dinner at Woodhill were more than adequate.

Spacious room, welcoming staff, old school charm. I have noticed others complaining that it’s run down. It’s a country B&B, if you’re expecting international business class hotel then you will be disappointed. Our room was massive with huge beds with very comfortable mattresses. Also someone else said the road to town is dangerous. Nope, it’s a standard country road, yes no pavements…that’s country roads. The cars that did pass gave plenty of room and were not fast. If walking in the dark, bring a torch so you can be seen. We liked our stay. Beautiful part of the world

Yes it needs a little TLC but it’s pleasant and comfortable.

The staff were the best! John, Helen....so helpful. A beautiful setting and house. We had a walk around the gardens, loved the coziness of the room and the general relaxed feel. The bar was class! Lovely warm fire and good company. Thanks :)

We could hear the guests upstairs very clearly- turning in their beds, going to the toilet. A bit annoying in the morning. We informed the house before we got there that there were two vegans for breakfast. It didn't feel like much effort was made the first morning and improved slightly the next.

It was beautiful. We had the coach house room. Nice to have a little bar and food right on location. Breakfast in the morning was lovely. All the staff we encountered were very polite and helpful. Only a very short drive to town. The goodie bags in the room with water, coffee and tea were a nice bonus as were the heated towel rack.

The only complaint would be the cobwebs in the beams in the room, but the rest of the room was very clean.

If you are looking for a unique stay in the area , this beautiful period home is what you should book, Outside town, surrounded by nature, Woodhill House will let you experience a little of what country life may have probably been like in the past. The interior is decorated with great taste. We stayed in an upstairs large room with a modern bathroom. We were welcomed by the owner himself who also took the time to shows us the places we could visit in the area. The breakfast was delicious, the staff was very warm and friendly.

We loved the home but the outside of the house was not what we had hoped it would be. We like firm beds and the one we slept in was a bit too soft for us.

Woodhill House is a quaint, old, unique country house, nestled in a quiet countryside location, about 1km outside Adara. It was like stepping back in time, in a good way. I enjoyed what it had to offer. The host and staff are friendly and accommodating, breakfast was good. There is an on-site bar which is unique and nice for a pre dinner drink before going into the town, we received a great dinner recommendation from the host. We were offered on site storage for our road bikes while cycling the Wild Atlantic Way. I would recommend it to cyclists and guests who are looking for a place to stay in Ardara, a nice change from hotels.

The house is old so one can expect a bit of wear and tear. The bathroom had some repair issues (host mentioned trades men are hard to find), the emersion shower water was very hot, toilet flush handle was shaky. I would ask for a grip matt to put in the shower/bath if I was staying a second night. These things didn't really impact our experience, however, they may for some people depending on expectations.

This is a beautiful old house with lovely furniture and great views. Lovely garden which would be amazing in good weather. Bedroom and ensuite clean and warm. Very comfortable old bed. It has a lovely bar and dining room. Our host John was warm, friendly and attentive. We would return.

A lovely place but for balance there are two minor issues which might be a problem for some people. A short walk from town on a quiet road which would be great on summer evenings but dark in winter. Shower adequate but some may like more power.

Location was amazing, 10 minute walk to town through a lively country road, the grounds were perfect with a view of the mountains. We booked the double twin rooms two huge double beds and a balcony on to beautiful garden surrounded by a woodland walk. Staff were very friendly, great vibes, everything and everyone was super relaxed, they absolutely nailed it!!! Hotels like this are few and far between, irish hospitality exemplified, never change!! Lastly the breakfast, finally a breakfast cooked to order with soft eggs, 10/10...definitely coming back and bringing more people next time. Not to be missed

Our host, John was a delightful man who made sure we were comfortable with our room, then recommended a great place to eat in town. After dinner we sat down in the living area where there is a bar and enjoyed his company along with other guests. We left with a full bellies the next morning after a delicious breakfast that was gracefully served by a lovely woman ( unfortunately I did not get her name, but she was also a delight. If we visit this area of Donegal again, we will definately stay again.
