Location, Location, Location - and the fantastic pool and spa facilities

There was a noticeable lack of staff or willingness to provide drink service in the bar area, or around the outdoor pool area. One had to wait a long time and order the drinks at the bar and then take them out with you. In our opinion, fixing this issue will improving the rating to excellent.

The Vila Gale Ericeira is an older style hotel sitting on a headland overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The staff are very welcoming and professional. The room was comfortable with a shower over the bath. The breakfast selection was incredible with a wide variety of food to select from and there was even a chef in attendance to cook your omelettes, pancakes and eggs the way you want them. There is a large outdoor terrace overlooking three swimming pools and one heated indoor pool. You can order food and drinks while on the terrace. There is also a bar area with tv and a snooker table. From the hotel it is only a short stroll to the main square, where there are lots of cafes and restaurants as well as entertaining buskers. We visited Sintra from Ericeira.

The view is why I go to this hotel. The staff are always wonderful. We had a problem with the A/C and it was fixed quickly. Housekeeping was wonderful. They didn't tuck my sheets under and make we unstuck them every night. Shows the staff are trying to work with the customer. We had broken a glass and it was no problem. We showed them the glass in the the trash we had gotten and they took care of the rest effortlessly.

Some of the food could use improvement. We had sandwiches at the bar. While the Fries were the best I've had in years the sandwiches were not that great. Mine was tough and my friend's was unrecognizable. The burger was enjoyed by another in the party.

The hotel has an amazing location, facing the Atlantic, seconds from the beach, breathtaking view. You could not ask for more. Walking distance from the village center, with many shops, restaurants, cafes and everything around. People say it looks old school, vintage style, it is. But that is the charm of the hotel. I could not imagine any Ericeira postcard without this building on it. It is on my childhood memories since I was a kid.

The cleaning could just be a tiny bit more accurate. My floor vacuum cleaning could have been better and I all my toiletries were totally empty. At 11pm I didn't t want to bother with that, and it was a one night stay. Thats the only reason I didn't said anything at that moment.

This was an a rather self-indulgent treat for us - a stay in a rather more luxurious hotel than we usually choose, and it didn't disappoint. The hotel is a lovely building in a spectacular setting, and has a charm of its own - quite old-fashioned in a nice way. The staff were welcoming and helpful, with a special mention for Sr. Fábio in reception who first welcomed us. We lov ed the pools and the drinks and snacks (we recommend the club sandwich) at the pool-side bar. The breakfast was generous and quite lavish. Our room was comforatble, and although we hadn't paid for a sea view, we could see the ocean from our window! In general we appreciated everything.

Excellent location. Very good breakfast with plenty of outdoor tables. Three elevators. Lovely pool area with plenty of sun beds Comfortable basic room overlooking the sea.

Buffet dinner. We only tried it once on the night we checked in. It cost 27 euro per head. There was a nice salad bar but hot food was mainly comprised of rice, pasta, fried potatoes, fries, more rice and very little else! Definitely would not recommend based on selection that evening!

Fabulous location and attentive staff. If you can book a sea view with a balcony - it’s definitely worth paying extra for the stunning view . The hotel had a generator so during the recent European outage our stay continued as normal ! For which we were very grateful !

Everything was fine !

Location, and worth getting an ocean view room. Our balcony was special and the views were extraordinary. Our room had beautiful high ceilings and felt relatively luxurious.

The smell… everything smelled damp and musty. We had to keep the doors to our balcony open to air it out for our entire stay. We also had very noisy neighbors on all sides. Not a whole lot of sound-proofing so I wouldn’t recommend to light sleepers.

Loved the long leisurely breakfast on the sunny terrace. Great range of breakfast food hot, cold, savoury and sweet. Omlettes, eggs and pancakes cooked to order. Delicious pastries for after,. We had a lovely spacious twin bedroom with a balcony but no sea view this time. Overall can't fault this lovely hotel.

Step in bath shower. No problem for us but could be an issue for older people with mobility problems. We put a small towel in bath to avoid slipping.
