Bolsena is a beautiful lakeside town, and the hotel is just across the road from the waterfront with its cafes and restaurants - an excellent place for a sundowner drink. The hotel is magnificent, the rooms large, and the beds comfortable with an excellent ensuite bathroom.

End of season, so maybe that explains the staff seeming to be bored. Advised our arrival time in advance, arrived early and dropped our bags and went for a beer on the lake-front. Came back 30 mins after the official check in time and it seemed our room wasn't ready. After a phone call our key was found and we were checked in. At Breakfast, yes, we did arrive towards the end of the period, and we didn't see any other guests, but that doesn't excuse the loud music playing (in a beautiful elegant well presented dining room) or the bored staff drumming an adjacent table with his fingers, nor the abrupt "we are closing in 10 minutes" warning given 15 minutes before the official end, or the reception staff helping herself to the remaining croissants while guests, us, were still dining.

The staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean and comfortable. The hotel room was quite big. The location is perfect, and Bolsena is a nice place to stay for a while. An old town with lots of history, and during the weekends we found that there are various places with live music. There is a pool at a hotel next to hotel Columbus which you can use.

Not much we didn't like. If anything, it would have been nice to have tea/coffee facilities at the room. The appearance of the room looks a bit 'old', but everything works and is comfortable and clean.

A perfect welcome as always and the position near to the lake is hard to beat. A lovely hotel with very nice features. Above all, the staff, especially the wonderful Fabiana, were top class. The breakfast selection and quality are hard to beat and far superior to other local hotels we have stayed in. Thank you once more. In addition the secure parking and good wifi are strong features at the Columbus.

Fantastic location, amazing area. Within a few steps from very nice restaurants, lake side stroll and access to the lake beach. The pool at the sister hotel(5 min walk) was very pleasant. Pet friendly

The surroundings(especially the backside where our room looked) and rooms should be updated or revamped according to original style. The view from our room was looking at a neglected terrace.

When you stay at Hotel Columbus you feel all the charm of a holiday by a lake. Everything made you feel like you were being pampered, from the welcoming hall decorated with paintings and sculptures, to the comfortable bed and superb view.

Friendly staff in reception and restaurant, helpful too. Location very nice but too many 'fine dining restaurants' in walking distance (we look for simpler fare and a hamber / fries is nowhere to be found it seems) though a nice bar for drinks and a sandwich (tramezzini) is right across the square with a view on the lake (lago). Had a very nice stay here (besides Venice and Gargnano NP the only place we stayed 2 nights in 16 days).

The bathroom was big enough to have a bath, but baths seem to have become unpopular (against the price we look for).

We had a lovely stay, reception was very nice and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Location was absolutely perfect!!

Our only issue was breakfast. Very good selection, but some of the pastries seemed stale. The coffee was pretty bad, which was done in a big coffee pot and tasted burned. That being said, we had enough choices to feel satisfied.

The location right next to the lake is wonderful and the breakfast had many choices. The room was really clean and housekeeping obviously take pride in keeping it this way. we particularly thought the people working at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, especially Fabiana.

everything. The breakfast room/restaurant was beautiful. Free parking was a boon! the location was amazing. The restaurant was very good, just be wary - the waiter was a pushy charmer and we ended up bursting. Otherwise, it was all superb. Beautiful bolsena.

View from back bedroom obstructed by trees that needed pruning. Lack of bathroom products considering it is a 4 star hotel.
