Great location just steps to the major piazza8 and Sassi district, also close to train station and some intercity busses (e.g.Bari Airport) The reception desk was very accommodating, polite, and professional. The room was very comfortable and clean. Our request for a higher level room was fulfilled. The breakfast was very tasty and consisted of a variety of choices. Very comfortable and pleasant stay. Thank you to all teams of this hotel.

We wish the room to be equipped with a kattle for tea/coffee. The hotel management should consider changing carpets in the halls.

While you can't see Sassi di Matera from the hotel, it only a 100m walk to Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the predestrian road atop of Sassi. Because the Via Roma in front of the hotel is one way and restricted access you get very little traffic noise, which was good as I was in 1st floor room facing the road, and good to know if you are driving your own car as the Via Roma splits to oneway in each direction in the middle. Once you get the right direction the underground parking is easy and well spaced. The breakfast had a great choice, including good fruit and plenty of seating area. I think if you are visitiong Matera with a car this would be one of the top picks.

If I could take home one thing from Italy, it would be our shower at this property. The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the Sassi, but has all the modern comforts and more! The breakfast was insane and the service was top notch. My daughter was recovering from a sickness and they lent us a tea kettle so I could boil her some hot water! Parking on site was very easy and we had no issues with the ZTL. We love Matera and will be back!!

The hotel is splendidly located, at a 2 minutes walk from the Palombaro Lungo and about 5-10 minutes from the Sassi. The rooms are well organised and nicely decorated, and the bathrooms are spacious and perfectly clean. The breakfast was one of the best in Italy, with a large variety of foods, both salty and sweet, fresh fruits and a good choice of beverages.

The staff has been helpful, but they didn't seem quite happy to have us there, asking for one thing or another. There is no electric cattle în the rooms, which I think is mandatory for a 4 stars hotel.

Parking was an issue upon arrival due to a conference. Thankfully the reception staff found us a space. Towels provided on day one looked like someone had tried to repair a car with them; stained black. Blanket provided in the room was torn. Breakfast was not well organized. Cereal station with no bowls, spoons or milk. Rows of jams but no bread. Coffee service from the bar was difficult.

Fantastic location just a short block from stazzi and main square and tourist office. Breakfast selection and room excellent with many very good choices... Top notch. Room very nicely done in light wood panels and bathroom very nice. Staff helpful. Parking under building was very convient. Just an excellent place to stay.

Hotel is well located minutes from the historical centre. Property is clean and well maintained. Included breakfast was good. Secure parking was also much appreciated as street parking is almost impossible in Matera.

Internet was excruciatingly slow and we finished using the hotspot on our mobile phones to connect.

Parking is underground and subject to availability. You have to stop outside and honk to get them to open the gate. Otherwise easy to access. Breakfast was great. Staff were very friendly. Great location.

Internet access is a little wonky on Apple devices but can be fixed. The rooms have a very fruity fragrance in them which I didn’t like but the windows open and there was a good breeze to clear it out.

The staff were very cordial and helpful. The breakfast had many choices and was very good. Our room was very nice as was the bathroom. Good shower!

NO AIR CONDITIONING! They told us that by law it could not be turned on until next month. Our room was hot at night ,after 80 degree days, and very uncomfortable.

To be honest, I was skeptical about this one. I needed to book the hotel last minute (like literally the previous night), so seeing an old-looking building (probably constructed in the 1980s) was not really encouraging BUT I wanted to see Matera, so I went ahead. The hotel surprised me and by a lot. First of all - yes, the building is old BUT all inside is renovated, so all is great. The rooms are good in size (not too small at all, just right) and everything is very clean. You have a full minibar if you want something and the hotel has a working restaurant and staff at reception 24/7. The breakfast is phenomenal (like, literally anything any traveler could want) and the staff are helpful and friendly. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Basically, there is no other hotel in Matera which is closer to the Sassi and the historical center. You just need 5 minutes of slow walking (entrance to the old town square is just behind the hotel :) ) and you are at the viewpoint and the cistern. There is a vending machine for snacks and drinks just less than 10 minutes away down the street from the hotel (in the old town) and any sights and amazing places to eat are within the same 5-10 minute distance. If you want to see the historical center of Matera, this is the place to stay (you won't regret it, trust me!). The hotel is very popular with Italians visiting Matera, so keep that in mind and if you are not travelling solo, like me, better book in advance :) The prime location comes with a single downside and a few things to consider (listing them here as they are just things to keep in mind and not something that is a huge issue) - the proximity to the Sassi means you will be quite far away from the bus station (3 kilometers) and the train station (1.5 kilometers). The distance is not that much BUT it is an uphill slope 90% of the time, so if you have a lot of luggage, better take a taxi.

I loved it, so nothing, really, I just want to continue what I started above with the things you should keep in mind when visiting. If you come by car, make sure to notify the hotel in advance, as it is within a restricted parking area and parking lots are limited. Also be aware that the hotel is busy (as I said, very popular with Italians visiting) and check-in starts at 15.00, so if you come in earlier than that, you may need to wait. The staff would do anything they can to accommodate you early, BUT if you plan on arriving before noon, better notify them, to get your room ready. The hotel also have luggage storage, just so you know. Did I say I loved it? Just to repeat I can't wait to return!
