Very central B and B in old part of town… family owners who care, and are good at, hospitality… good breakfast with wider European options, not just cakes… our rooms were lovey, the terrace perfect for people watching and star gazing, the bathroom shower was superb, modern and powerful but fitting for the renovated building… all in all, we loved it and would definitely return to this excellent bed and breakfast… Erasmus recommended 2 restaurants, both good but Pico was exceptional, highly recommend.
The second bedroom had a vaulted ceiling, I’m 5’4 and I struggled to avoid it… it was not suitable for my friend who is 6’2.

The hosts were very nice, gratuitous, and friendly! We were greeted by Rafael, who chatted with us for about 10 minutes regarding Matera and the B&B. He offered us coffee and water right away. He also helped us carry our luggage to our room. Our room had a large terrace with a beautiful view. Great for having a drink before dinner. The room was very authentic. The breakfast was served in a breakfast room, with homemade sweet and savoury items. They were also able to accommodate gluten free. They explained everything at the breakfast and made fresh coffees. The shower was spacious and had good pressure and the towels were large and comfortable. Excellent location - very easy to get around. The B&B arranged a taxi for us on our last day.
The mattresses were just okay. The bathroom could use a shelf to store your toiletries. But really no complaints!

Amazing little family run boutique hotel. Hosts are amazingly friendly and welcoming, breakfast is a spectacle for the eye full of fresh home made products, location is one of the best you could stay in Matera within the pedestrian upper area of the old town and all the most important attractions just a short walking distance, rooms are beautifully decorated with all necessities. It felt like being in family home, in a town that resembled paradise. Breakfast time feels like being home with hosts helping you out planning your day with maps, suggestions and recommendations. I can’t wait to be back

This is a small, family owned hotel, consisting of nine rooms. Our room was inside a cave. It was clean, comfortable and well furnished. The host was very friendly and helpful. The property is centrally located in the historic district.
While not a problem for us, there are steps to most of the rooms we observed and would probably not be suitable for a person who is seriously physically handicapped. Of course, to be fair, Matera is a city that has been continuously inhabited for at least 12,000 years, so there will always be challenges to be overcome. I am sure the host could accommodate most any issue such as that.

We had the double deluxe room with view and balcony. Words can’t describe how beautiful it was. The owner greeted us and explained the area and the past history, and which restaurants he liked. He was on hand all the time when needed. It is a family run B&B where the Mum makes all the cakes and helps with breakfast, which was gorgeous.
Nothing at all but of if I had to say anything it would have been nice to have a kettle/coffee machine and wine glasses in case we wanted to drink wine on the balcony. However if you asked I believe they would have given you some. All in all 10 out of 10.

The hosts were very informative, welcoming and hospitable with a beautiful property and spectacular outlook over the Sassi. The breakfast was exceptional too with many delicious local specialties which we loved. This is a particularly good area to stay in, as close to secure parking, no steps with bags, many restaurants nearby and no flying bugs (as we found on the North side of town).
The single dorm beds with one pillow pushed together in the largest room… A mattress topper and more pillows would help but a King or Queen bed would be more fitting for the price and huge room, even with the three singles left in.

The property is conveniently located in Matera. If you’re traveling by car I thoroughly recommend you take the advice of the owner & book guarded parking. We were greeted by a family member (it is a family run business) who went through relevant information regarding our accommodation, showed us a map & marked sites he thought were worth a visit & recommended restaurants etc. Breakfast was fantastic (all hand made by the mother) & was served with freshly made coffee. The owners always had a smile on their face.
There was nothing to dislike.

Matera has left a special place in our hearts and certainly the apartment was a major part of this. Couldn't have asked for a better place and host. From the spectacular modern cave apartment with all of the amazing features, to the central location. What made it extra special was the family-feel of the B&B, including the fab breakfast made by Erasmo's mother! All the staff were friendly. The parking can be tricky, but once we found a space all was well. Would highly recommend and we look forward to returning.

Location. Matera is stunningly beautiful. Hill top town so there’s plenty of walking to do. Our apartment had its own terrace so we could sit with our coffee and watch the tourists all stroll around. Quirky apartment with very good bathroom facilities.
Our apartment was on a tourist thoroughfare and was very noisy during the day. It quietened down when the restaurant opposite closed at night. Continental breakfast with no cereals or eggs available. However Pastries and homemade cakes were delicious.

We were situated down in one of the Sassi. Really gave you a great feel for the area. Very authentic accommodation but modernised. Large bedrooms with comfortable beds. Good size kitchen with fantastic coffee machine. Nice terrace for a glass of wine in the evening watching life go by. Very cosy.
This isn't a negative but just highlighting (depending on age). Lots of steps which just goes with the area. Some of the accommodation is available at ground level so if you don't like climbing steps, request these rooms.
