Ida is a super host. She gave me a lot of hints to visit the city. Her house is located in the old part of the city

I liked city very much , but nothing in a property.

I wasn't so happy about this place, the room was very tiny, not like on the photos .The air conditioner working very loud. In description was written that we can use kitchen and balcony, but in fact it's not organised like this. Also we have to pay for very small dog ( chiwawa)+ 30 €.The breakfast was very poor. You can book other places twice cheaper (5-10 minutes by walk)in same area. I wouldn't recommend to book this place . Even more: I was travelling by car, and choosed the place with free parking, this place is in restricted for cars area, and I had to park my car far away from the place. Property is not so easy to find we have asked help from the owner to help us out, with no response. Only when we called directly , Property owner has replied on time when we were almost desperate to find this place. And many more small disappointing moments... which cannot be covered here

The location is perfect as it is in the middle of the old town of matera. Easy to find with the location you sent us. The owner was nice and friendlly

- Terrace is not part of the common area, is part of the private house of the owner, which she was nice and let us use it. But its not as adverticed in the comments. We didn't have keys to enter and use it for sunrise as we planned when booked as we had to message the owner to let us in. - We got a different room than the one we booked, we tried to explain in italian and that we thought the terrace was ours (also in the booking said our room had a terrace) no room has terrace. We would have never spent so much money on a room with no balcony as it was the only reason we booked it. We didn't ask for our money back and open a claim on booking because they let us use the balcony (even if its suppposed to be shared which means not private) and use the linen cloth for our photos and the family was nice and kind. - Very expensive - We got the cave room by mistake, which when we booked it it was 45$ cheaper than the one we booked but after we have checked during summer months is a lot more expensive. - I would just change in the information about the terrace and explain better it is NOT common space as we didn't have keys to enter and the owner of the house let us use while she was in the living room.

no signage to property no information sent to find it in the warren of streets appalling handling of our booking. wasted 2 hours of my life trying to get into the b&b, which we never did! my advice would be dont bother book somewhere else

Excellent location, nice clean bedroom with own toilet and shower with exclusive access. ‘Shared’ access to kitchen, living/dining room and large balcony with wonderful views. Host very attentive and eager to ensure all needs are catered which as many of the reviews attest to, is greatly appreciated by most. Ida provided extensive instructions and we used them to easily find a free parking space on via Gattini. Particularly liked that we could wander round the old town early in the morning before anyone arrived. ‘Slow’ travel at its best!

Instructions on access to ‘ZTL’ zone and when to access without getting a fine, could be clearer. Only really an issue if you have a lot of luggage which we did. Would have been nice to avoid the walk down to the property and then up again to the car with all bags. However, another option is to leave car in a specific carpark (sorry can’t remember name) and to take the small red bus from the carpark down into the old town. It stops almost outside the accommodation. The other issue was trying to find space in the very large fridge. We only stayed for one night and so didn’t have that much food and drink to store but if staying for a few days, we would have wanted much more space than was available. It was literally a case of forcing things in where you could find some space. Finally, and as per my comment above in ‘what we liked’, Ida is a lovely person and it was great to sit down and to talk with her. However, it was our wedding anniversary, a fact that we made known and we would have appreciated having a more secluded dinner on the balcony in the evening. I’m sure that checking paperwork in the kitchen just next to the balcony could have been left to another time.
