We loved Matera and the host of this stay was very accommodating. Very spacious room and great breakfast. Amazing to walk around and explore

Nothing really but just beware that if you have a car you can’t take it into the old town or close to the stay. Take the bus from the top and it would drop you right in front of the place

Wonderful location and very helpful & kind hosts who went out of their way to assist us. The terrace area was perfect to enjoy breakfast & also for aperitivo. Spacious room well fitted out with coffee machine & wine glasses.

The bathroom pump was unfortunately quite noisy, whenever the water was running or flushing the toilet, but probably can’t do anything about this in an old building

This fabulous structure is owned and run by Margherita, who's energy, enthusiasm and attentiveness are outstanding. Gradelle di San Nicola is perfectly placed for access to the center, it is comfortable, characteristic and charming. The breakfast is superb. Margherita also gave us excellent tips on a local guide (well worth doing) and where to eat in the evening. All round fantastic !

The curtain over the entrance door to our room didn't fully block out the bright light from the terrace, but that's a very minor consideration.

Super property right in the centre of Sassi di Matera. Lovely owners, really helpful and great breakfasts too! Local bus stop right outside, but everything is walkable. Many really good restaurants nearby. Top tip: Do watch the video sent from the owners with directions on how to find the property. It is not obvious to spot from google maps.

Everything was perfect. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, even offered to talk to a train operator in Italian to ask about an ongoing strike. The breakfast was always delicious. The rooms were very clean and had all amenities listed. The location is beautiful.

The location in one of the Sassis of Matera was central and perfect -- and interesting walks through the amazing scenery took us wherever we wanted to go in the town. Our host was very gracious -- she lives next door and made it clear that she would be available if there were any problems, and she helped arrange for a taxi to get us from and to our garage when we arrived and when we left (one cannot reasonably drive anywhere near the Sassi accommodations -- they are pedestrian areas with limited driving for deliveries, and so on -- a taxi can stop briefly). The room among the caves was bright-feeling and extremely well designed given it was not all that large -- the bathroom and shower were terrific. It all felt totally comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Breakfast was generous and very good. All in all we would definitely highly recommend this B & B.

There's a steep little stairway to get up to the room, but that wasn't really a problem -- and it's close to inevitable in the Sassis of Matera, with the amazing houses built into the cliff-sides. Our host helped us up the stairs with our luggage, in any event. So, this is really a minor thing -- just to let people know, if they have trouble with stairs. Actually, if one has trouble with stairs, it would be better not to stay in the Sassis, because there are uneven stone paths and stairs all over the place.

We loved our stay here! We were greeted (early) with a glass of wine and local food. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The terrace was a bonus and each morning Dominica served us the most AMAZING breakfast, offering a doggy bag for the amount we could not eat. The property is in the middle of the Sassi but has access to a vehicular road.

I spent four nights here. I loved every aspect of it. The room was a good size, comfortable, clean and quiet. The location in the historic center, Sasso Barisano, was ideal for me. I could easily access the hiking trails, get to the other Sassi area, and walk to very good restaurants, shops, sites, and interesting museums nearby. The breakfasts were outstanding and on a very nice terrace. But the best part was the host, Margherita. I've travelled for a long time to many places but she is the best host I've ever had, by far. Her attention and proactive service is beyond what I'd get at a 5-star hotel. She did whatever it took to make sure I had a great experience and I did. This started from before I arrived to after I departed. I'd ask about a restaurant or a post office or whatever, she shared recommendations and details, and she'd followup during the day to make sure it worked out for me. She simply cares about your experience and happiness. She is passionate about it. I'd highly recommend this place and would certainly stay here again the next time I'm in Matera. Nothing. Well, the breakfasts were great but there was too much for me to eat. I felt guilty either eating all of it or leaving anything behind. So, she encouraged me to take some for snacks during the day (and I did.)

We had a wonderful time at Luca & Giovanna’s, this place deserves more than 10/10! The room is centrally located, well decorated and equiped, Luca & Giovanna so nice and full of kind attentions. Highly recommended for a night (or more) in Matera !

The room was very comfortable and clean. It was also a good size. Breakfast was nice and it was pleasant sitting out on the balcony. The host was very helpful and kind. The location of the room was perfect and as there is very little traffic it is quiet.
