Apartment is in the middle of Sassi di Matera. You are surrounded by the beautiful Matera town and all attractions are just a few steps away (and some stairs - be prepared for that :)). Apartment is in an old building with a window view in to the underground museum directly from the kitchen. The place is very authentic and stylish, still very comfortable with everything you need (good aircon, comfortable beds, kitchen, small outside terrace etc.)

Nothing to complaint. The place is great. Just a note: for breakfest you get some snacks and fruit leaved in the room, be prepared for walking with many stairs.

The location is amazing right smack in the middle of the historic Stassi region of Matera and the rooms are built into the caves as a result. The breakfast is a large quantity of food that is left on the table and in the fridge. Bread, jams, cereal and cookies on the table. In the fridge, tomatoes, fruit, juice and milk.

Because its the historic district, we had to park in a parking garage that closed by 8p and also needed to pick up the car by 1p the following day because the parking garage closed for Siesta. Also didn't realize that some of the rooms were not near the check-in and had to walk 100 meters (uphill and stairs) to a different location to access the rooms. Its tough for those that are handicap or cannot walk up stairs well.

We stayed in a charming cave house with Hotel San Giorgio. Our room was large with a nice bathroom, big shower, a kitchenette and a small seating area. Breakfast is provided by the hotel with fruit, breads and croissants, jams, cheese and meat left in your room each day. The room was very clean and had everything we needed for our short stay. The location was right in the Sassi. We parked in the Nicoletti parking garage and they shuttled us to the hotel and picked us up when we checked out. Our specific room was still a good walk up from reception but the man who checked us in helped carry our bags. The price was a great value compared to other cave houses in the area.

The location of the hotel was perfect to do your sightseeing. 3 very good restaurants were a stones throw away and all were highly recommended by the hotel. We were aware that you cannot park in the old town, but used one of the parking garage services that they recommended and it was no issues. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Our room was very clean and the bathroom and shower were also very good. We just wished now that we actually would have stayed 2 nights to really enjoy Matera.

Location of the hotel was ideal for a walk up to the old town of Civita and also Sasso Caveoso; Sasso Barisano where the hotel is based has lots of restaurants to choose from and is lovely to wander around. Not too busy even though the hotel fronts onto the main street. The suite was enormous with a great choice of food offered for breakfast - I had to turn food away so it did not go to waste! The suite had a private entrance and air conditioning to die for! The staff were very friendly and took time away to show me around; they were happy to spend time talking to you. Cannot recommend it more highly.

Pillows were rock hard and the towels were on the small side.

For our short stay in Matera, Hotel San Giorgio was perfect, location is central to the old town, perfectly placed for seeing the sites of Matera, great friendly staff communication, there is no tourist parking in Matera old town, so we followed their guidance on parking, all very easy but definitely recommend the shuttle bus, our room accommodation was great, homely and comfortable, breakfast was included and all good.

Very nice bedroom and dining area inside, lots of available space, in central area of Sassi with pleasant seating area outside. Comfortable bed and good shower.

Couple of minor niggles. Felt the manager could have been bit more receptive, we asked some Qs about history of area and local restaurants but he was brief and non-commital. Also somewhat disappointed with breakfast with nice fresh items in fridge but sealed bags of bread and croissants and paper plates isn't a great experience. Many other B&Bs we visited in Puglia had arrangements with local establishments to offer a light breakfast and feel that's something the hotel should consider to improve experience.

Super friendly & accommodating staff.Thank you Pierre, Benny & Bessy!!! Stayed in the San Giovanni suite located behind the lobby.Spacious room with a loft sleeping area and private outdoor space. The complimentary local meats, cheeses,tomatoes and bread were perfect on the outdoor patio with a glass of vino. Great location to explore the magic of Matera. Highly recommend.

Great location & very central within Sassi,the room felt very authentic to the past of Matera ( cave living on a modern scale )Breakfast was most adequate to start the day , prepared the day before to have in your room or on a terrace.

Larger bathroom towels need to be introduced, hot water to the shower was inadequate most of the time ( felt like a poor quality instant HWS )Wifi can be non existent at times , best to have your own back up or try outside for a better signal.

Everything. I twisted my ankle just before arrival and the staff were very kind and patient. The room was absolutely stunning, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was great and we were enchanted by Matera. Sadly we were only here for one night but we would absolutely return to Matera and this hotel in a heartbeat. Thank you so much Benny at reception
